As Rias and her group moved into action, four swords, radiating a holy light, hovered in the center of Kuoh Academy's courtyard, forming a magic circle around them.
In the center of the magic circle stood an old man, the one Irina and Xenovia had mentioned—Valper Galilei, exiled by the Church for his research on the holy swords.
"It's finally beginning. The merging of the four Excaliburs." Valper said with glee.
"The recreation of the original Excalibur! Even the Lord would weep with joy at my achievement!" A feverish smile played on his lips; Valper was lost in his dream.
"Valper, how much longer until the Excalibur fusion is complete?"
An impatient voice echoed from the sky! Kokabiel, bathed in moonlight, appeared.
He sat leisurely in a floating chair, looking down with anticipation.
"Less than five minutes, Kokabiel."
"Is that so? I'll leave it to you, then."
Kokabiel's gaze shifted from Valper, then he muttered to himself.
"Will Sirzechs come? Or Serafall?"
"Sorry, but eliminating you doesn't require those two Devil Kings."
With a faint smile, Arthas appeared in the courtyard, bathed in moonlight.
"Oh… the Devil King's sisters are hiding in fear? And you sent this weakling to die? Hahaha… how amusing."
Kokabiel paused upon seeing Arthas, then burst into arrogant laughter upon realizing Arthas was just an ordinary lower-level devil.
In Kokabiel's eyes, Arthas was an ant, easily crushed.
"Merging Excaliburs? That's your goal. It's quite interesting." Arthas said, amused, looking at the holy swords. While not suppressed like ordinary devils, Excalibur's aura still disgusted him.
"Five minutes left. Let's play for a bit. I'll kill a Gremory familiar first. As for those hiding…"
Kokabiel easily sensed Rias's group approaching from the side, and cheerfully snapped his fingers.
"Let them play with my pets from Hell."
With Kokabiel's snap, something emerged from the darkness.
It was far beyond human imagination.
A colossal, black figure, dozens of meters tall. Four thick legs, terrifying white claws, and blood-red eyes that glowed even in the darkness. From its mouth protruded menacing fangs, white breath emanating from between them.
A gigantic, dog-like beast, except it had three heads.
Woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof!
As the figure emerged fully from the darkness, a deafening roar echoed. All three heads howled simultaneously.
"Cerberus, the Hellhound." Rias identified the legendary monster, realizing they could no longer afford to stand idly by.
The monstrous Hellhound was immediately struck by a massive lightning bolt.
Woof woof!
Roaring, Cerberus looked to the sky, searching for its attacker.
"My, my, what a cute puppy. Let's play." Akeno, in a red and white miko outfit, took to the sky, crackling with electricity.
"There are more. Charge! Stop the old man from merging Excalibur!" Without Rias needing to command, Yuuto charged, his greatest enemy before him.
The Hellhound lunged, snarling, at Yuuto, who was at the forefront of the charge.
Numerous demonic swords materialized around him, propelling him upwards.
The Hellhound howled, its mouth full of dust. Six slender demonic swords appeared around Yuuto.
Woof woof woof!
A scream echoed. Yuuto landed gracefully, continuing his advance, leaving the Hellhound with six eyes pierced, howling in agony.
But its howls were cut short as Koneko and Xenovia swiftly dismembered it.
"His improvement is remarkable." Xenovia marveled, impressed by Yuuto's precision in piercing the Hellhound's eyes with six swords.
"He's facing his greatest enemy." Akeno sighed from the sky.
"It's done!" Valper's excited voice rang out. The four Excaliburs in the courtyard began to glow intensely.
Kokabiel clapped his hands in the air.
"Finally, four Excaliburs into one?"
Holy light spread across the courtyard.
It was so bright that Yuuto had to shield his eyes. He could see the four holy swords merging.
Excalibur was originally one sword. Though split into seven, four were now recombining.
After the blinding light subsided, a holy sword emitting blue-white energy stood in the courtyard's center.
"Thanks to the light emitted during the Excalibur fusion, the following ritual is complete. The city will collapse in less than twenty minutes. To stop it, you must defeat Kokabiel." Valper proudly announced this shocking news.
But fear didn't appear on anyone's faces.
Valper had no time to ponder why. The magic circle encompassing the courtyard glowed, gathering an energy capable of destroying the entire city.
"Valper Galilei, wield this merged Excalibur. This is what you've always desired, isn't it?" Kokabiel called from the sky.
"With pleasure." A twisted gleam flashed in Valper's eyes.
"See? I was right, Lord. Do you see? Excalibur's light shines in my hands again… what a glorious light."
Grasping the Excalibur in the courtyard, Valper laughed maniacally, then pressed his face against the blade, lost in ecstasy.
