"Xenovia's just tsundere." Irina said with a laugh.
"I am not! Irina, don't say that!"
After Xenovia finished eating, the four of them returned to the Occult Research Club's living room.
"Reluctantly, this mission requires collaboration with you devils." Xenovia, her blush still lingering, spoke formally.
Seeing the amused expressions on Rias and Arthas's faces, she blushed even deeper.
"Hey, hey, when did I agree to collaborate?" Rias didn't speak, but Arthas chuckled.
"Hey, you broke Xenovia's holy sword. Don't you feel a little sorry?" Irina pouted.
"Didn't I compensate you with another holy sword?"
"The holy sword you gave us is completely unusable!"
"Only a holy sword, or your strange artifact, can destroy Excalibur. The Fallen Angels obtained Excalibur; who do you think they'll target? It's likely to be you devils." Xenovia analyzed seriously.
"So, helping us destroy Excalibur benefits you devils, doesn't it?"
"That's true, but won't your superiors punish you for collaborating with devils?" Arthas asked curiously.
"There are no devils who can use Excalibur. We're merely cooperating with the priests and nuns here." Xenovia said, looking away.
"That doesn't sound like something a devout believer would say." Arthas chuckled.
"I do this for the glory of the Lord. Even He will forgive me." Xenovia said firmly.
If your Lord knew, He'd cry, Arthas thought, twitching at the corner of his mouth, unsure how to respond to her use of faith as an excuse.
The collaboration was decided. Not only Rias, but Souna was also informed by Arthas, and the time was set for 10 PM.
The three factions, despite constant conflict, observed a basic rule: never displaying power beyond human comprehension in front of humans in the human world.
The world would descend into chaos if they did.
"Xenovia, you've lost your holy sword, so don't linger if you find the enemy. Escape immediately, understand?" Irina said earnestly before their departure.
"I know the stakes. I'm not going to throw my life away." Xenovia nodded.
"We'll handle the enemy, Miss Rias, Miss Souna." Irina politely addressed Rias and Souna before splitting up with Xenovia.
Rias and Souna warned their familiars to be careful before joining the search.
Arthas acted alone in the darkness. Genshirou Saji's modification had likely occurred in the past few days.
Afterward, the Fallen Angels released him to test the results, only to be unlucky enough to encounter and be eliminated by Arthas.
The time difference was short. They probably hadn't been gone long since discovering Genshirou Saji's death. Even if they fled the city, it wouldn't be that quick.
What puzzled Arthas was why the Fallen Angels conducted their experiments here, knowing the next heads of the Gremory and Sitri families were in this town.
Anyone would know the Fallen Angels wanted Excalibur to target devils, but why would they dare experiment with it in the Devil King's territory?
Unless their goal wasn't Excalibur at all.
He searched abandoned buildings, but as midnight approached, he found nothing. His phone remained silent, indicating the others had no leads either.
…That aura is…?
Arthas paused. A brazen aura emanated nearby, seemingly taunting, wandering through the town.
"Showing themselves so openly. Arrogant." Shaking his head in annoyance, Arthas headed towards the source.
By the time he arrived, Rias and Souna were already there, their expressions grave.
A male Fallen Angel, with black wings, was flying against the moon.
One, two, three… five pairs of black wings!
The young Fallen Angel wore an ornate robe. Seeing Rias and Souna, he grinned cruelly.
"This is our first meeting, daughter of Gremory. Beautiful red hair. Reminds me of your hateful brother—makes me want to vomit."
"And you must be the daughter of Sitri. Your sister is also dearly missed."
"Hello, Kokabiel, Fallen Angel executive. And my name is Rias Gremory. Remember it. Also, the Gremory family and our Devil King have a unique relationship—close yet distant. If you're here for political maneuvering, it's pointless."
Kokabiel, a Fallen Angel executive? Arthas didn't recognize the name, but seeing the five pairs of wings, he knew this wasn't a minor figure.
Fallen Angel wings represent strength. Two, four, and six wings usually represent lower, middle, and upper-class devils. Ten wings… are near Devil King level—like Souna's sister and Rias's brother.
Kokabiel's tone suggested he knew Souna's sister and Rias's brother. This wasn't just any Fallen Angel executive; he was a big shot.
"He's more than a big shot. He's a Fallen Angel mentioned in the Bible—a survivor from the ancient wars."
Seeing Arthas's curious expression, Xenovia explained Kokabiel's background with a wry smile.
