Evie's scream split the air, charged with fright.
Tommy was in the study when he heard the sound. He scrambled to his feet and ran up the stairs. He burst into the bedroom with wide eyes, heart hammering with fear of what he'd find.
"Evie!"
She was standing near the bathroom doorway with a towel wrapped tightly around her. Her face was ashen as she pointed to the fogged mirror, her hand trembling severely.
Tommy stepped inside, the slap of his shoes echoing on the marble. His gaze followed her finger and saw the creepy message.
Welcome back home, princess.
He didn't waste a second. He swiped a hand against the mirror but paused before wiping it off completely.
"Get dressed," he bit out through clenched teeth. "Now."
Evie nodded mutely and turned back into the room. From the sound of her footsteps, she didn't bother going back to the guest bedroom, just headed straight to the closet and rifled through the clothes she had left behind.
