Chapter 223 - Chapter 223

The curly-haired blond white man looked ordinary, but Kurohane found something was seriously wrong with him. Kurohane's telepathic ability had no effect! It wasn't just a mental shield; it was like punching a black hole. There was no resistance, just an endless void. An existence so strong, yet so empty.

"If I didn't have the Phoenix Force, maybe I wouldn't be his match," Kurohane thought, his interest piqued. "Could he be the Sentry?"

The man, who also felt someone trying to enter his mind, tilted his head and looked around. His eyes trembled, searching for something invisible. But of course he found nothing, because Kurohane was not a part of this reality.

"His physical fitness is ordinary, so why do people say he's on par with Superman?" He wondered. "Ah, I'm curious!"

A portal opened, and Kurohane appeared in the underground part of the building. A lift clanged, and in the main room, White Widow, US Agent, Ghost, and Taskmaster were attacking each other. Each person was a target for the other, part of their crazy mission. After the chaos, Taskmaster lay on the ground.

Kurohane appeared in the middle of them, sudden and unexpected, like a "catfish in a sardine tank." The three remaining people were shocked, immediately pointing their weapons at Kurohane, but he ignored them. His eyes were fixed on the white man hiding behind a pile of boxes. If there was someone in this room who could be a threat to him, it was only that man. What's more, there was a bomb on his head?! A strange setup. "Is this how Avengers 5 and 6 start the story?"

"Mr. Kurohane, why are you here?" Yelena was the first to snap out of it and lower her weapon. Years of being a spy had made her accustomed to betrayal. Seeing a third person at the mission site, she knew something was wrong.

"Valentina is being targeted by her political enemies, and they're looking for evidence to bring her down," Kurohane replied in a straightforward tone. "This place is a warehouse of her illegal experiment evidence."

"But what does that have to do with us?" Ava, the Ghost, lowered her helmet.

Kurohane pointed at the three of them, then at Taskmaster lying on the ground. "You four are the evidence of Valentina's crimes, so of course you must be eliminated!"

"No way! I'm a nationally certified Captain America! She can't do this to me!" Walker didn't lower his gun, pointing it at Kurohane. He didn't know the man, but he felt a terrible, hard-to-explain threat.

"You were Captain America for two seconds, then you killed a guy in the street," Yelena taunted. "The shield was taken. What are you holding now? A kid's toy?"

Kurohane smiled at her. Yelena was indeed an expert with her mouth. "I know you don't believe me, but if you can get out of here, just pretend I never said anything."

Kurohane's hand pulled Taskmaster's soul out of the air. "Fortunately, this version is a woman," he mumbled, then sent the soul to the Heaven Dimension. "The Valkyries' arena needs fresh blood. A combat master mimic like this will be very useful."

He didn't resurrect Taskmaster (named Antonia). According to the original storyline, Antonia was indeed fated to die here. This was a part of destiny that had to happen, although Kurohane would ensure Antonia's soul found a new place.

Ava still didn't believe it. She put on her helmet and walked to the door. "Since I have the ability to phase through solid objects, no door can stop me!"

Beep!

A sharp sound was heard, knocking Ava out of her intangible state. She covered her ears and knelt in pain. The others also looked very uncomfortable. Only Kurohane looked relaxed. A holy sword appeared in his hand and he swung it, cutting through the wall and destroying the sonic weapon.

"Now, do you believe me? Valentina is here to kill you."

Kurohane pretended to be casual, then kicked a pile of boxes. The curly-haired man was revealed, and Kurohane's holy sword extended, resting on his neck.

"Friend, please tell me your name and background."

The man was wearing a hospital gown. "My name is Bob. I just signed up for a medical experiment. They took my blood, then I passed out. When I woke up, I was here. I don't know anything else!"
