Chapter 289 - Chapter 289: Godhood, My Master

In the blink of an eye, the crimson pillar of light unleashed by the fully synchronized soul tool attack array of the entire Sun Moon Empire Navy engulfed the charging Demonic Empress.

The red glow reflected sharply on the Snow Empress's icy visage, highlighting the trace of disdain and contempt in her gaze toward the Demonic Empress.

At the same time, deep within Snow Empress's heart, she couldn't help but feel a touch of reverence for this attack. Even she, with her formidable power, wasn't sure she could retreat unscathed if she were the target of such a blow.

On the decks of the warships, the navy soldiers—having witnessed firsthand the overwhelming might of the linked soul tool attack—fell into a brief, stunned silence. But soon after, fervent cheers erupted like a tidal wave:

"This is the strength of our Empire!"

"Long live the Sun Moon Empire! Long live the Chief Architect!"

"May all enemies before us be reduced to ashes beneath this might!"

". . ."

When the crimson light finally faded, what was revealed was a Demonic Empress—wounded, disheveled, and barely clinging to life.

Overwhelmed by rage and arrogance, she had dismissed the incoming attack from below. She'd believed that her million-year deep-sea devil whale body could easily withstand even the most fearsome blow from humans.

But once engulfed in the crimson beam, she discovered, to her horror, that she couldn't move. Her entire body was being eroded by a fearsome energy sourced from the "Origin Array." The pain was unbearable. It was then that the Demonic Empress realized—she had been terribly, horribly wrong.

Indeed, this newly developed linked soul tool array by Mingde Hall was based on the principle of fission and fusion reactions, channeling vast amounts of soul power to drive the Origin Array and release devastating attacks. It was, without exaggeration, the most powerful individual-target soul tool weapon in the history of the Sun Moon Empire.

This weapon was also one of the key reasons the Sun Moon Empire Navy dared to venture so far into the open seas. Along the way, even when operated at only ten percent of its full capacity, the attack array had effortlessly slain a hundred-thousand-year sea soul beast that blocked their path.

Earlier, in order to show the Demonic Empress the overwhelming power of humankind and to force her into submission—thus creating the opportunity for her to willingly aid Huo Yuhao in vengeance and become his soul spirit—Huo Yuhao had specifically instructed Snow Empress not to resist. He had anticipated that mentioning Tang San would ignite her fury and cause her to lose reason, making her vulnerable to a full-power strike.

"How does it feel now? Do you believe what I said?" Snow Empress's voice was cold as frost. "Stagnant sea soul beast... You thought being a million-year deep-sea devil whale and falling into darkness made you invincible? In truth, without a divine position, you're nothing."

The Demonic Empress, weak and breathing heavily, slowly raised her head after hearing Snow Empress's words. Her face, once fierce, now showed a hint of bitter mockery.

"Heh… yes. The heavens have never been fair to our soul beast kind. That Tang San, in a mere thirty years, slew the love of my life and ascended to godhood. And me? I could do nothing. Now, I've even been wounded this badly by humans."

Her voice trembled as rage surged once more. Then she snapped, "And what about you?! I know who you are—you're the ruler of the far North, aren't you? So what? Are you any better than me?! You don't have a divine seat either! Aren't you just serving humans as well!?"

Snow Empress paused.

"Pfft."

Her cold, unyielding expression broke for the first time. The Demonic Empress's words had caught her off guard, making her laugh aloud. "No divine seat? Serving humans? Yes, yes… You're not wrong. Hahahaha!"

Now it was the Demonic Empress's turn to be stunned. Had the ruler of the far North lost her mind? If she was admitting the truth, why was she laughing so freely?

"But what you don't understand… is why I've chosen this path," Snow Empress replied calmly. "Ever since the Dragon God fell, the path to godhood was closed to soul beasts. Our kind lost the right to immortality. Every hundred thousand years, we face calamities from the heavens, powerless to resist."

"But if I become the soul spirit of someone with the potential to ascend to godhood… then when they become a god, so too shall I. It's as they say—when one man ascends, all those close to him rise as well."

"That's why I chose to serve a human. Years ago, a man approached me and invited me to walk the path to godhood together. I judged him worthy. So I made a contract with him. I await the day of his ascension."

"That's the reason. Do you understand now… Demonic Empress?"

The Demonic Empress was utterly speechless.

Because what she had just heard completely shattered her understanding of the world.

Immortality with a human?

She wanted to scoff, to call it madness—but she couldn't. A horrifying thought crossed her mind:

What if… Ten thousand years ago, her husband had chosen to cooperate with Tang San rather than oppose him?

Wouldn't they have already ascended to the God Realm together as a family?

But it was impossible. That accursed Tang San had treated the deep-sea devil whale king as an obstacle on his divine trial. Their enmity had been carved into fate itself.

Still, she couldn't deny that Snow Empress's words made sense.

She fell silent.

Snow Empress, sensing the shift, smiled slightly and pressed forward. "Heh… I know. A thousand years ago, Sea God Tang San killed your husband. You want revenge. But without a divine position, how can you hope to accomplish it?"

The Demonic Empress's expression once again turned dangerous. But this time, she did not erupt in blind fury.

"Hmph! How do you even know all this? I know what you're trying to do. What now? You want me to do the same—to become like you, join your so-called path to godhood with some human?"

"Exactly." Snow Empress smiled faintly. "My master has taken a liking to your strength. He promises that if you are willing to cooperate, he will help you get your revenge. When my master becomes a god—it will be easy."

The Demonic Empress snorted. "Sounds like a bad joke."

"Then see it for yourself."

As Snow Empress's words fell, the Demonic Empress noticed something. The light above her… dimmed.

She instinctively looked up—and her eyes widened in shock.

What she saw… was an eye.
