"Dawg, when am I going back home?" I asked, looking over at my friend.
"Come on. I just got you out of the house, and you're already wanting to go back?" he said, turning to me with a look of exasperation.
"Well, I like my room very much," I replied, a slight edge of annoyance in my voice as we continued walking.
We stopped outside a brightly lit convenience store.
"Get anything you like," he offered.
"Yeah, yeah, sure," I mumbled, already heading inside and quickly grabbing an energy drink and a large bag of chips.
My friend followed, shaking his head. "Bro, you should be eating healthy foods, you know."
"Eh, this is good enough," I said, ignoring the he's advice.
"Man, you should be taking care of yourself. You're not even going to school, and you're doing this to yourself," he sighed, his hand running over his face in frustration. "Just... Take care of yourself, okay?"
After we left the store, my friend got a call, his face immediately turning serious. He muttered a quick apology and said he had to go.
"I guess I will be returning home then," I said, carrying my haul of chips and drinks, already plotting my return to my beloved room and play some games.
Just as I started heading back, my phone buzzed. I pulled it out of my pocket.
"Huh?" I said, reading the message.
[It's a nice day, right?]
The text was innocent enough, but the next thing I saw was a massive truck barreling toward me.
"Wait, this is an alleyway! Why is a truck coming towards me?!" I shouted, my eyes widening in terror. I dropped my snacks and tried to dive out of the way, but the vehicle was impossibly fast.
*Thud*
A heavy sigh escaped me, even as everything faded to black. "Well, that was very insane..."
I guess this is it, huh? I thought, preparing to close my eyes for the last time.
Wait! My browser history! Wait, I can't die yet!
The panicked thought was the last coherent thing before a brilliant flash of light engulfed me.
I opened my eyes, instantly knowing I wasn't on Earth anymore or at least, not the Earth I knew.
"Why are there magical girls and... is that the Grim Reaper!?" I shrieked, only to realize my voice was different. Higher.
"Wait... ah... ah... ahhhhh," I tested my new vocal cords, then checked myself over.
"... Fuck!" I swore. I was now wearing a pair of gray pants, a white shirt under what looked like a doctor's coat, a tie, an ID badge, a satchel, and a tactical belt complete with a holster but no gun.
"I need a mirror," I muttered, quickly checking the satchel. Inside, I found a small hand mirror.
"Wow..." I was surprised. I had emerald green eyes, and my face looked unnervingly emotionless, almost bored.
"Well... wait a minute... I just found out I am on top of a building!" I realized, carefully checking my surroundings. Fortunately, I was alone.
"Oh, wait, let me check my ID," I said, looking at the badge hanging around my neck.
"Doctor Rin Agnes C. Schneider," I read aloud, repeating it a few times to commit it to memory.
"So I'm a doctor, mhm... Wait, I don't even have experience being a doctor!" Panic flared in my chest, but I fought to control it.
"Deep breaths... Inhale, exhale," I repeated, forcing myself to calm down.
"I am in a new world with a new body and life... I miss my family," I admitted, a wave of sadness washing over me as I sat down on the cold rooftop.
"But I must keep going. That's what they would want," I said, standing up and straightening my coat.
"For my own survival in this world, I have to adapt," I declared, heading toward the only rooftop exit.
"Wait, if I got isekai'd, then I must have a System, right?" I wondered, trying the usual suspects.
"System!... Yeah, not that. Status?... Not that either..." After trying every phrase from every isekai anime I had ever watched, nothing happened.
"This is just a waste of my time," I sighed.
"It's getting late. I have to get off the rooftop."
I opened the exit door. The interior looked like a hotel or apartment complex. A memory suddenly flashed in my mind, stopping me mid-step.
"Wait..." I checked the satchel again and found a key card.
"Oh... I guess I live here. That makes sense." The memory was of my (or rather, Dr. Schneider's) room.
"Oh, here it is," I said, slotting the key card into the lock, which instantly opened the door.
"Very convenient... I guess I can tap into the memory of this person, huh? Well, if you can hear me, I am sorry for taking over your body," I whispered, unsure if anyone was listening.
"Well, the room seems okay," I observed before removing the coat, my shoes, and the satchel. I spotted the bed and leaped onto it.
"Ah, so soft~" I moaned contentedly, before the comfort was shattered by a searing headache.
"Ahh!"
Multiple memories, sharp and painful, flooded my mind. The last thing I remembered was collapsing.
"Ugh, my head," I groaned, the throbbing pain still present as I stood up and staggered toward a drawer near the bed.
"Well, I did expect something," I muttered, opening the drawer to find a black gun case inside.
"Let's see here," I said, opening it up. "A Glock 17 Gen 5, fires 9mm, and..." I expertly racked the slide, checking the chamber before pressing the trigger. A satisfying click echoed in the room.
"Nice. It feels very good. And I have four mags with FMJ rounds and tracers mixed in. Whoever this person is, they are packing heat," I noted, closing the case and putting it back.
"Alright, I'm changing this belt. I'm not going anywhere looking like a tacti-cool civilian," I decided, switching the tactical belt for a regular one I found in the closet.
"How many clothes do women wear?" I grumbled, closing the closet door.
"Okay, if I want to survive, I need to find out more about this world. Even though I have some of this person's memories, I still need to see it with my own eyes. Plus, having some of her memories means I can do basic medical stuff, so I guess I don't have to worry about being a doctor," I reasoned, suddenly feeling a pang of hunger.
"Mhm..." I went to the kitchen and opened the fridge. It was stocked with a startling amount of energy drinks and several bento boxes.
"Well, I guess being a doctor is stressful," I joked, grabbing a bento box and tossing it in the microwave. After a short wait, I ate.
"It's good," I admitted, finishing the meal quickly.
"Okay, time to go."
As I started to leave, a strange urge, a kind of automatic muscle memory, took over.
"... You know what, I guess it's better to bring something for self-defense," I conceded, my hand automatically finding and grabbing a canister of pepper spray from the tactical belt I had just taken off.
"Weird," I thought, before leaving the room and quietly pulling the door shut.
I found the stairwell. A quick look at the floor numbers confirmed I was on the tenth floor neat.
"Okay, get information and head back home," I told myself mentally as I hit the streets.
I immediately noticed many people were looking at me, likely because of the doctor's coat and my seemingly bored expression.
My senses feel sharper, though. Maybe I should have changed my clothes.
Suddenly, a Magical Girl was fighting a grotesque monster a few blocks down, and people were running in every direction.
"Magical Flare!" she shouted, and a massive beam of light pierced the monster's chest. It fell dead, and the Magical Girl struck a cute victory pose before flying off.
"Well, that was very interesting," I commented. Moments later, people in suits arrived, blocking off the area while construction workers immediately began fixing the property damage.
"Well, not my problem," I shrugged, continuing my walk. I then noticed two people in a dark alleyway, clearly engaging in questionable activity.
"Wow, in broad daylight too? That's crazy," I muttered, starting to ignore it, as it genuinely wasn't my business. Yet, a peculiar tug in my soul, a disturbing curiosity or something, pulled at me.
"Fine," I sighed, heading into the alley.
"Hey! Dude, you shouldn't be doing that here," I called out, getting their attention.
"And who are you, huh? Or will you join us?" the man leered, a comment that made me feel instantly sick.
"Hey, lady, are you okay with him?" I asked the woman, but she was too far gone to care.
"Hey, don't disturb us! Go away!" the man snapped, while the woman's face was a mask of pure ecstasy.
As I was about to speak again, my new, sharper senses warned me of a presence behind me. I spun around. A person was holding a cellphone, clearly aiming to flash its screen right in my face.
"Shit!" I instinctively covered my eyes and brought up the pepper spray.
"Eat shit!" I yelled, blasting the person square in the face. They dropped the phone.
"Ahhhhh! My eyes!!!" he screamed as I turned back around to see the other two had already vanished.
I clicked my tongue in irritation. "Tsk."
I turned back to the wailing man on the ground. "Rub your eye, and it will go away," I said dismissively, leaving the alleyway.
This world... Wait a damn minute. A phone with a brainwashing app, two people doing the business in broad daylight, Magical Girls, and other stuff... which means... I combined all the unsettling evidence.
"I am... I am in an NTR world / Hentai," I whispered, immediately returning to the alleyway and stepping forcefully on the phone, breaking it with a crunch.
"Ay, what was that?" the man on the ground whimpered, hearing the crack.
"I will return home. I could just check the internet... Yeah, it's safer there than here," I decided, scanning my surroundings before briskly walking away from the alley.
