Chapter 3 - Chapter 3- The Fated Meeting

The flying boat glided through the sky, its powerful spiritual engines cutting through clouds like a blade through silk. Hours passed in silence as I observed the world below—floating cities, vast mountain ranges, and ancient beasts flying freely in the skies.

Then, I heard a knock.

Knock. Knock.

"Young Master, we are approaching the Lin Clan," a guard's voice announced from outside.

I stood and straightened my robes. My black crown shimmered under the sunlight spilling through the crystal windows. The moment had come.

The guard led me to the front deck of the boat. Before us, the Lin Clan appeared—smaller than the Wu Clan, but still impressive. Built on a spiritual plateau with jade pavilions and guardian beasts etched into every stone, the place radiated noble heritage.

As we descended, I could see figures waiting in the courtyard—elders, disciples, and one girl standing slightly ahead of the rest.

Her presence was like a sword wrapped in silk—elegant, but deadly.

She had long, flowing black hair, her features sharp and captivating. Her eyes—clear and cold—were locked onto me as though she could see straight through my soul.

A screen popped up again:

My heart skipped a beat.

So she really does have fragments of her past life's memories… No wonder she looks like she wants to kill me.

I stepped down from the flying boat, my steps slow, confident. The ground beneath me seemed to quiet as I approached her.

"Greetings, Lady Yun Ling'er," I said, offering a slight bow.

She didn't return it.

"You're late," she said coldly.

The elders laughed awkwardly. One stepped forward. "Ah, forgive us, Young Master Wu. Ling'er has always been direct."

"It's fine," I said calmly, my gaze never leaving hers. So this is the girl I betrayed… the girl I killed…

But now, things were different.

I wasn't the same Wu Tangge, and she wasn't the same Yun Ling'er.

She studied me for a long moment, her eyes narrowing. "Something's different about you."

"Different?"

"You look the same," she said, tilting her head. "But you feel… weaker."

My eyes twitched. Weaker?!

"I guess even an Evil God can wear a sheep's skin," she whispered so only I could hear.

I froze.

She knew.

I forced a smile. "You're quite observant, Lady Yun."

She turned and walked ahead. "Come. They're waiting for us in the Hall of Unity. Let's get this engagement formality over with."

I followed her, my mind racing. This is worse than I thought. If she really remembers everything… I'll be dead before the wedding even starts.

Ding!

I clenched my jaw.

Just great. If she tries anything, I might really die in this world.

But as I looked at her walking in front of me, something strange stirred inside my chest.

Why do I feel… guilty?
