The teacher's eyes narrowed as she looked down at Nina.
"Report to the detention hall after school."
Nina's jaw dropped.
"Seriously? For saying I wanted to skip school? That's too much!"
The teacher raised an eyebrow.
"What was that?"
Nina straightened her posture immediately, her voice unnaturally sweet.
"Oh, I didn't say anything. Nothing at all. Must've been the wind."
Her teacher didn't press further, but the unimpressed look on her face said she wasn't buying it.
[Sharp ears for someone unawakened. You should be careful. She might not have power, but her instincts are better than yours.]
Her Patron said with a hum of amusement.
Nina muttered under her breath as she trudged to class.
"This is so unfair."
All day, she kept grumbling about her detention. Every time her teacher's face flashed in her head, she felt the urge to throw her pen across the room.
