Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: Enkidu

Heading to Japan?

Mordred was momentarily stunned before she suddenly realized—

Nameless is in the Japanese Archipelago?!

Let's not forget: during the Knight of the Round Table knighting ceremony, Artoria had turned it into a Heroic Spirit summoning ritual.

She had wanted to directly summon Nameless to Britain—summon him to her side.

After Nameless gave no response, Artoria used the Avalon she had previously left within him as a locator to determine his whereabouts.

And now, Artoria's sudden visit to Japan clearly had one purpose—

To use a public diplomatic visit as an excuse to meet Nameless!

They absolutely must not leave her behind!

Without hesitation, Mordred said, "Then I'll go too!"

"Oh~"

Artoria looked at her with a slight smile, her expression seemingly gentle.

However—

Mordred felt a chill run down her spine.

Damn father... she's trying to make me back off by being nice—well too bad, I won't!

She raised her head defiantly and met that gaze head-on without flinching!

In the end—

Artoria nodded. "Very well. You'll accompany me. Gawain will remain in charge of domestic affairs for now."

"I shall obey, my king!"

Gawain immediately saluted in response.

As her trusted right-hand man, naturally, he was the one to oversee Britain while she was away on a foreign visit.

As for Mordred—

Sorry, with her notorious black history from the Battle of Camlann, not a single Round Table Knight agreed to let her take charge of Britain!

She was just a merciless paperwork-processing tool.

"Yes, Father."

Mordred's mood instantly brightened.

She could go to Japan to find Nameless and escape the endless pile of paperwork—what a win-win!

Even watching the video became enjoyable.

Wait—

It's impossible to feel relaxed right now!

Mordred ground her teeth, glaring at Gawain basking in the golden sunlight.

From the video, the relationship between the King of Heroes and Nameless seemed to imply they were already close friends.

Damn it! That potato-head tricked me again!

Gawain's smile was brighter than the sun outside. "Mordred, no need to rush. Let's keep watching!"

Mordred... I, Gawain, am a man who's read the script!

Think about it—considering how much Alaya favors Nameless, do you really think it would release a video where Nameless fails to win someone over?

Exactly. Gawain never once considered he might lose.

With the setup of the first two videos, how could he possibly fail?

With his beaming smile and Mordred's gritted teeth—

On screen—

After the two goddesses came and left in a flash,

Nameless smiled at the King of Heroes.

"See? I told you. The gods made a divine leash just to chain up a disobedient dog like you!"

"Hmph. A mere divine weapon? I'll destroy it without lifting a finger!"

Gilgamesh snorted coldly.

Ever since he defeated the divine beast Humbaba, his Gate of Babylon had been filled with numerous new treasures.

Each Noble Phantasm greatly enhanced the power of Ea, and he feared no challenge.

I am invincible in this world!

However—

Nameless responded even more aggressively. "As a king, you should sit on your throne and behave. I'll take care of this."

"You damn… bastard, as arrogant as always!" Gilgamesh glared. "Want me to toss you a few Noble Phantasms? Don't come crying to me for help later, hahaha!"

"Get lost. I'm not a coward like you, scared of even facing the gods."

Nameless snapped back bluntly.

Then—

He walked toward the location where the divine weapon had descended.

Behind him—

The previously calm and arrogant King of Heroes rubbed his chin with a smile, "A mere Nameless... Guess I'll tag along and watch how you die!"

This prideful king was secretly tailing Nameless from a distance!

The onlookers were instantly amused—

SinMommy-[Why does the King of Heroes seem more and more tsundere?]

Animalistic-[Clearly worried Nameless might be in danger, but still acts all arrogant!]

AlphaSigma-[Its not arrogance you fool! His just built different!]

YeetTheInfidel-[Haha, just like my annoying friends. Always saying "go die" but secretly the most concerned ones.]

HolySimp999-[Didn't the King of Heroes publicly say Nameless could never be his close friend? This is the classic "tsundere reversal"!]

...

"Sanjiro, I think you were right. The King of Heroes really has started seeing Nameless as a close friend," Kirina murmured in a daze.

The supremely arrogant King of Heroes actually acknowledged someone even more arrogant than himself? Was he a closet masochist?

"Maybe," Sanjiro replied, not wanting to keep watching.

That bastard Alaya—it wasn't just exposing his relationship with the King of Heroes that annoyed him.

The problem was that it also exposed the video of him flirting with the goddess sisters!

Back when he encountered Ishtar, he remembered her infamous title in a past life gam—

"The Girlfriend Outside the Shield"

(T/N: I think this refers to Ishtar being seen as a female character you do not own but stick closely like a 'lover' to your character in fgo?)

As a "Master," naturally, he had a soft spot for these kind, cute… and freely-giving Heroic Spirits.

He had just made a couple of casual comments back then—not seriously trying to woo her.

As a traveler through human history, Sanjiro knew his limits.

Unfortunately, he had still underestimated the consequences of "free affection"...

"I wonder what Artoria and Jeanne will think when they see Nameless flirting with other women like that," Kirina muttered, clicking her tongue.

These videos were being broadcast globally.

Artoria had just bestowed the title of Knight of Holy Light upon Nameless and wanted him to meet her.

And then bam—this video airs, revealing even more incidents.

Terrifying... Would the ensuing love triangle destroy the world?

Fortunately—

Nameless was far away from her. No need to worry about the fallout!

She could just sit back and enjoy the show—so satisfying!

The scene shifted.

Across a field blooming with endless flowers, a glowing figure with green hair walked toward Uruk.

This person had an androgynous charm, transcending gender and common sense.

Though appearing as a 16-year-old girl, there wasn't a trace of human emotion in its expression.

No different from the wild beasts of the plains.

A familiar figure in a red cloak stood in its way.

Its eyes flickered,

"Commencing assessment. Beginning status analysis. Just an ordinary human. Step aside—you are not my target."

Despite having a human appearance, its voice was as cold and emotionless as a machine.

It walked around the person blocking it and continued toward Uruk.

Nameless caught up and stepped in front of it again. "Chains of Heaven, stop. I can make you truly human—grant you a 'heart' as humans should have."

"I am merely a weapon. I do not require a 'heart'. You are hindering me. That makes you my enemy."

Massive magical energy surged around the divine weapon.

From the ground around it erupted golden spears, shooting straight at Nameless.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Nameless blurred into motion, easily parrying the attacks with Kanshou and Bakuya.

But then, countless chains surged forward like a swarm of serpents.

Nameless instantly projected a strange longbow.

It was the Noble Phantasm of the Greek hero Heracles, used to slay the Hydra—

[Nine Lives – Shooting the Hundred Heads]!

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Nameless drew and released his bow, projecting nine arrows at once—each striking a chain.

Explosions echoed as the arrows and chains collided and disintegrated.

Nameless drew again.

The divine weapon summoned even more spears.

It had been created to bind the Wedge of Heaven, to link heaven and earth, ensuring humanity's eternal worship of the gods.

She possessed Wisdom of the People, akin to the Gilgamesh's Gate of Babylon, summoning endless swords and spears from the earth itself.

The battle raged on for a long time.

In the end, it was a draw—but a strange friendship was born from the fight.

"Your strength has earned my recognition."

The divine weapon's emerald eyes remained emotionless as it placed its hands on Nameless's shoulders.

"Please… turn me into a true human being."
