Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Severing the Connection Between Gods and Men – Absolute Separation of Heaven and Earth

The terrifying Bull of Heaven, like an apocalyptic demon king, was destroyed just like that!

Everyone was a little in disbelief.

This was meant to be the gods' terrible punishment upon humanity, intended to utterly annihilate mankind.

With just one stomp, the entire world trembled.

Countless houses in Uruk collapsed in an instant.

Gnarled cracks split open the earth.

But now, this horrifying divine beast, previously impossible to resist, had been slain by the combined efforts of three people!

On the screen,

The once densely packed cheering bullet comments turned to utter silence.

Everyone froze for a long time, then erupted into a frenzy of excitement—

HistorianWithWifi-[Holy crap, they really killed it?!]

ConstipatedProcrastinator-[Incredible! The god-king Anu just declared the Bull of Heaven would punish humanity, and now it's dead? What a slap in the face!]

HolySimp999-[I thought it would be an incredibly tough battle, but the trio practically one-shotted it!]

BoobVenerate-[Don't celebrate too early. The gods are still watching from the heavens!]

ICastFart-[We're doomed. This will definitely infuriate the gods. No one can resist what's coming now!]

As many feared,

A far more terrifying divine punishment descended!

The glorious figure of Anu, King of the Gods, appeared before everyone's eyes for the first time.

He wore a dazzling crown, a shining golden robe, and held a divine staff that governed the heavens.

All the gods stood behind him, preparing to deliver final judgment upon humanity for their lack of faith.

"I declare: You are guilty!"

The King of the Gods spoke, unleashing an irresistible might.

Under his powerful divine pressure,

Nameless and Gilgamesh both felt as if mountains were pressing down on them, forcing them to kneel and grovel.

They couldn't breathe! Couldn't escape! Couldn't resist!

It was as if the entire cosmos was rejecting them, and all of existence was judging them.

This was a god who ruled the very laws of the world!

"I, the King, am not guilty!"

Gilgamesh gripped Ea tightly, his expression cold as he looked up at Anu.

No matter how much power the god wielded, even if the whole world tried to crush him, he would never bow his head.

With a voice more arrogant than even the god-king, he declared,

"Among Heaven and Earth, only I am the true king. Even you, so-called King of the Gods, are nothing but a petty thief who stole the world's authority!"

At those words, the gods instantly flew into a rage.

One after another, they denounced him coldly—

"Gilgamesh, you're just a dog we reared. You've brought about your own destruction!"

"Sinner! You shall suffer eternal punishment! You will watch your kingdom fall, and you will writhe in agony from endless regret!"

"All your struggles are utterly futile!"

The booming voices of the gods resounded across Heaven and Earth.

All mortals collapsed to their knees in growing terror.

Despair was written all over their faces.

To them, the gods were supreme and untouchable. There was no resisting them.

"To expect humans to remain rational forever… truly a delusion."

The majestic voice of the King of the Gods echoed, delivering the final judgment.

"Gilgamesh, because of your sins, Uruk shall be destroyed by a flood!"

"Divine Weapon, you who are but a clay doll, shall return to clay!"

"Nameless visitor from another world, we shall follow your karma and destroy everything in your timeline!"

The gods began their true apocalyptic cleansing.

A flood of unimaginable magnitude surged into view, threatening to destroy all of Uruk!

And that wasn't all.

The divine weapon who had fought alongside them began to crack all over. Like a dried clay doll, it was about to shatter and collapse!

The gods had created it—naturally, they could destroy it too!

Nameless held it in his arms. "En-chan…"

"Nameless, don't be sad for me. I'm truly grateful to you for giving me a 'heart,' for letting me truly live."

Enkidu's emerald eyes glowed with warmth, and its smile was radiant.

Once a mindless weapon, under Nameless' influence, it had become truly human.

Enkidu was happy.

It had enjoyed having a "heart."

Even though the time was short, even though it wanted to continue living, even though there was still so much left undone…

It was enough.

This kind of life was a luxury, and every second of it was precious beyond measure.

Enkidu broke free from Nameless' embrace and once again activated its final form—

[O' Humans, Let Us Restrain the Gods — Enuma Elish!]

Dazzling golden chains shot up from the earth to the heavens.

Using these chains to bind Heaven and Earth together.

No—

This was his true form: the bond that connected the heavens and the mortal world, never to be separated!

"Nameless, it's time to proceed with the plan. The loss of a weapon isn't failure. Victory will still be ours!"

Enkidu's smile grew even brighter. "Come, cut me down!"

"En-chan…"

Nameless sighed heavily and reached out to the king beside him. "Golden Shiny, lend me Ea for a moment."

"But I refuse! I, Gilgamesh, enjoy nothing more than saying 'no' to fools like you!" Gilgamesh coldly snorted without hesitation. "The King shall bear everything alone. You two bastards better stay put!"

His expression was filled with fury, as though he'd suffered the greatest humiliation.

As the proudest of kings, how could he allow others to shoulder the cost?

However—

Nameless didn't care about his anger at all.

"As King, bear the entire world properly, bear everyone's future. Don't think of escaping! You want me to manage this whole mess for you, you bastard?"

Nameless strode over and directly snatched Ea from Gilgamesh's hands.

"You're such a damn bastard!"

Gilgamesh tried to stop him, but in the end, he lowered his hand.

He was the King. He bore the whole world—and now also the future entrusted to him by two dear friends.

In the sky—

The gods were suddenly struck with panic.

At this moment, they finally realized what their opponents were trying to do!

"Lowly ants, stop right now!"

These fools—were they really trying to sever the connection between Heaven and Earth?!

Thousands of years ago, outer-world horrors descended, and the Age of Gods began to fade.

The gods' heavenly realm and the human world began drifting apart.

So the gods created the "Wedge of Heaven" as an anchor.

Using the "Chains of Heaven" as links, they tried to bind Heaven and Earth together.

But now—

The Wedge and the Chains had both slipped out of their control.

The gods thus sought to destroy humanity, so they could raise a more obedient anchor and chain!

But now, their enemies were trying to sever the link themselves!

"I know I can't win—but I must stand here. If even the last hope is abandoned, who can defeat the gods?"

Nameless, holding Ea, looked up at the gods in the sky.

"With this strike, I will sever the connection between gods and men! This is my final—"

"Enuma Elish! (The Star of Creation That Split Heaven and Earth!)"

Unlike when the Hero King used it, this time, Nameless poured his entire being into it, becoming the ultimate fuel to fully unleash this reality-severing Noble Phantasm.

To truly cleave apart the world!

Nameless raised his sword to the heavens—

"Arrogant gods, accept humanity's final defiance!"

His entire body began to burn, transforming into a golden sun that lit up the world shrouded in the gods' shadow.

Boom!

A brilliant pillar of light followed the golden chains straight up to the sky.

Crack!

The golden chains shattered!

Crack!

The final link between Heaven and Earth broke!

With one strike, the connection between gods and men was severed—absolute separation of Heaven and Earth!

From this moment on, Heaven above and Earth below—gods and men—shall forever remain in their own worlds, never to interfere with each other again!
