Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: "The Oldest King"

Countless high-ranking officials of Uruk had all gathered in the grand hall.

"The Oldest King"—this was a video related to their most magnificent, most ancient, wealthiest, and most powerful king.

Now, the King of Heroes himself had summoned everyone to witness it together.

As everyone assembled, anticipation filled the air—

"The great king must have been supremely wise and deeply beloved by his people back in the day, right?"

"Just a nameless heroic spirit? If he dared appear before the king, he'd only end up as the king's most loyal subject!"

"Exactly! That guy only managed to win over King Artoria and the French Saint because he's handsome enough!"

"Let's see how the supreme King deals with this nameless heroic spirit!"

On the throne—

Clad in shimmering gold, Gilgamesh rested his chin on his hand, a faint smile on his lips. Just as he had said before: a mere nameless heroic spirit—how dare he stand before him?

Compared to that, the pleasure-seeking Merlin was much more suitable as a vassal.

That guy just needed a bit of nurturing, and he'd surely discover the same kind of joy!

Now then, let this king see what this video is all about!

The opening was the same—

[Chronicles of the Nameless Servant!]

[No one knows your name, but your deeds shall live on forever!]

The screen slowly shifted.

The perspective seemed to be from some colossal being, gazing down at the western lands from above the ocean.

A calm and powerful narration began—

[Humanity slowly flourished, gradually abandoning ignorant faith.]

[To ensure humans would forever worship them, the gods created "wedges" to restrain humanity.]

[One such wedge was born—two-thirds god, one-third human, bearing the blood of the god-king Anu.]

[The oldest King of Heroes, born to be the king of heroes!]

[His name was—Gilgamesh!]

This narration was basically the most fundamental of facts.

Especially when it came to top-tier heroic spirit like King Artoria and the King of Heroes, they had fanatics all over the world.

Even non-fans would have long since heard of them from various sources.

The King of Heroes was revered as the wisest and most virtuous king.

Wiser than the gods themselves, he brought absolute order to his nation, overseeing everything from economy, livelihood, education, politics, and military.

Single-handedly, he rebuilt his country from ruins.

Everyone wore smiles on their faces, worshipping the King of Heroes with utter devotion.

The so-called Epic of Gilgamesh, which described him as a tyrant, was clearly slander by later generations!

Some people were simply jealous of the king's greatness and hurled filth at him without restraint.

How could such a wise and virtuous figure possibly be a greedy, over-the-top tyrant?

"It's the King of Heroes! My favorite!"

Kirina's big eyes sparkled, as if she were seeing piles of shining gold coins.

This was, after all, the wealthiest of all heroic spirit.

His [Gate of Babylon] led to the Golden Capital and held endless riches.

She thought about the related lore and nearly drooled.

"Oh my god, if I could be the King of Heroes' little sister or daughter, I could buy whatever I wanted!"

"Wake up. Young people should be preparing to work 996. Stop dreaming!"

T/N; 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, six days a week)

Sanjiro rolled his eyes.

That golden brat was so cute as a child—how did he grow up into such a cocky, edgy loudmouth?

Fortunately, with his warm, considerate, and kind-hearted mentorship, he had managed to steer the kid back to normal again.

These two absolutely couldn't be allowed to meet—otherwise, raising that troublemaker would get ten times harder!

"Hmph! I'm not doing 996. I'm going to find a job with a four-day work week," Kirina responded confidently.

Even though she had zero magical talent and was just an ordinary person—with her intelligence and wit, her future would definitely not be ordinary.

But… why was that cat staring at her the whole time?

Kirina clenched her teeth in frustration—

So flashy, but won't let her pet it—what do you even want?

"Fou… Fou (What's this weird one trying to do?)"

Fou sat squarely in Sanjiro's lap.

Hogging the softest, warmest seat available.

It continued to stare warily at the girl.

This one may look like a human girl, but in truth, she exuded an aura as terrifying as its own.

The most frightening part—

She was wrapped in mysterious energy that seemed endless and untraceable.

As if born from countless human histories… and the collective fear and curses of humanity.

A being drenched in sin.

Who exactly are you?

"Alright, stop staring at her. Focus on the video."

Sanjiro gently patted its little head.

If outsiders knew that these two were living in his home, the entire world—and every heroic spirit—would surely descend into chaos and terror.

This video seemed like it was going to expose some black history about him and the edgy golden one… like how they used to call each other "son" in their dorm—just thinking about it made him feel publicly executed.

He had only wanted to protect human history, but who told that golden brat to be so annoying? After having just fought him to the death on another timeline, he had zero goodwill left for him.

Of course he'd give him a character correction punch and turn him into the most beloved Virtuous Gil!

"Hmph!" Kirina snorted coldly.

She could tell something was off with that little cat. Was it here to repay a debt or something?

Well, no use overthinking. Better to keep watching the video.

On screen—

A beautiful youth appeared, with golden hair, crimson eyes, and covered in gold from head to toe.

Anyone could instantly recognize him as Gilgamesh.

The oldest King of Heroes, born of two-thirds god and one-third human.

However, unlike the majestic King of Heroes from the 21st century, this one was more of a teenager in form.

ICastFart-[Whoa, young Gilgamesh is so handsome!]

AlphaSigma-[Why does he give off such a cocky, edgy vibe?]

YaoiBreed-[Where's Nameless ? This time it's a guy—let's see how you charm him now! I wanna know the techniques! Don't forget—King of Heroes might swings both ways!]

ConstipatedProcrastinator-[Stop talking! I need to start drawing doujin now!]

Prime Minister's Office.

Mordred stopped her work, eyes glued to the screen:

"Could it be… Nameless's even going to win over the King of Heroes?"

If that were true, it would be terrifying.

Among all heroic spirit across the world, the King of Heroes stood at the very top.

No no, she was overthinking it!

That couldn't be possible!

The King had publicly scoffed before—

[Tch. Women will always be women, trying to fight over a man. Nameless heroic spirit, if you dare appear before this king, you'll only end up submitting and offering your loyalty to me!]

To this king, even someone as powerful as Nameless meant nothing.

"So… what identity does Nameless have this time to approach the King of Heroes?"

Mordred focused on the video.

Earlier, Merlin had contacted her, saying he had a way to find Nameless.

But that bastard had pissed her off so badly she'd rather cut him down than work with him.

If she could get the King of Heroes' help, she could find the Nameless faster than her father!

The video continued.

Uruk seemed to be in a state of famine.

Countless people lined the streets, gaunt and weak, squatting in exhaustion.

In the distance, corpses lay strewn across the ground.

The terrifying monster Humbaba had taken over the entire forest, preventing Uruk's people from cutting trees or gathering fruit.

This was the gods' punishment—punishing humans for their lack of faith.

Teen Gilgamesh frowned as he looked over his people:

"What can this king do to save the nation?"

"Well, you could always ask me for help."

That familiar red cloak appeared.

"You can help this king?"

Gilgamesh tilted his head slightly to look at the man.

The red cloak fluttered in the wind as the man smiled brightly,

"Of course I can. First, you just need to become my disciple!"
