In the end, they didn't resist at all as they told me everything that I wanted to know and I learned what this 'society' was.
The 'society' that they referred to was actually called the Undead Society.
It had an impressive sounding name, but what it really was was nothing more than a gathering of necromancers.
Necromancy, that was a class of magic that was looked down on by everyone.
Not only was it considered dirty, it was considered immoral.
That wasn't surprising considering what the nature of necromancy was.
However, it was still a form of magic that existed in this world.
For one reason or another, as long as it existed in this world, there would be people that would learn it.
Those that learned this form of magic would be shunned by the world and would be disadvantaged if they were all alone. That was why those that were shunned by the world for learning necromancy actually grouped together to form this Undead Society.
However, this Undead Society wasn't that weak either.
After all, they were confident enough to kidnap and kill the would be students of the Magic Tower. That meant that they were confident enough to take care of the magicians that would come to investigate this.
It seemed like the teens could tell that I was a bit worried when I heard about the power that the Undead Society had.
That was why one of them suddenly said, "You're just a lowly undead, do you think that you can go against an entire group of necromancers? If you follow us now, we'll bring you into our folds and you'll be…"
Before he could finish what he was saying, there was a bony foot that hit him in the stomach.
I looked down at him and said in a cold voice, "There won't be a second warning."
All of their eyes shrank and they felt a chill run down their spine.
Though they didn't seem like they were fully convinced, it also didn't seem like they were planning to cause trouble right now. Instead, it seemed like they were now trying to find a way to escape.
I didn't care as I continued organizing what they had told me.
After a long silence, I finally said, "Where is your base?"
They all revealed bitter looks when they heard this before looking around them.
It was clear that they were saying that the hut that I burned down was their base.
But I wasn't actually asking this.
In a colder voice, I asked, "Where is your base?"
"What do you mean? You've already destroyed the place that we're using as a base. What else do you want from us?" They complained when they heard this.
I raised my hand and gathered the flames again before pointing my hand at them.
That was when they lost the tone in their voice and said in trembling voices instead, "We really don't know what you're talking about."
"There's no need to remain loyal to those people. Tell me what you know and I can consider letting you go."
All of their eyes lit up when they heard this, but then they quickly dimmed since they realized what they were being asked of.
This wasn't a simple question at all, it was a question that was very much loaded.
And as the implications of this question sunk in, they knew that if they actually answered this question…
"Why do you want to know this? You should know that there's an executive who is at the base, he's someone that you definitely wouldn't be able to match. He is someone that controls several liches and even an elder lich. If you try anything, there's no doubt that you will die or fall under his control."
The teens started to give all kinds of information and all kinds of reasons why I shouldn't go to their base.
Though it wasn't because they were scared of me that they were giving this information.
It was clear that they were scared of whatever was at the base.
If it was known that they gave this information to me, then there was no doubt that they would be kicked out of the Undead Society. Since the Undead Society was an underground group in the first place, being kicked out wasn't just being kicked out.
It would mean being banned from interacting with any necromancers in the future.
At the same time, it would mean being hunted down by the necromancers that were a part of the Undead Society.
These weren't the kind of people that would allow traitors to go that easily.
Seeing that they weren't actually giving me the information that I wanted, I just simply decided that it wasn't worth waiting for them to actually give in.
So I released the flames that were around my hands.
Seeing me release the flames like this, the kids thought that I was giving up on asking them this question.
Only my next words made the hope that had appeared in their eyes for a second disappear.
"You better not resist. This is my first time using this spell, so I'm not the best at using it. If you resist, there's no telling what kind of pain you'll feel."
As soon as my voice fell, there was a green claw that came from my hand and entered the head of one of the kids.
As soon as the claw entered his head, he started to convulse.
"Soul Search…" The other kids said in a voice filled with awe and terror.
They recognized this since this was one of the spells that came with necromancy, but they never expected this lich to be able to use it. After all, this was a spell that was considered a high level spell.
It was also at this moment that they looked around as if they were planning something.
Before anyone said anything, they all started to run off in different directions.
After all, using the Soul Search spell meant that one would be vulnerable while using it.
So they were planning to escape while their friend was being subjected to this Soul Search.
