Roberto cleared his throat, drawing all attention to himself. "If Genevieve wants Rossi to be her guard, then I guess I have no choice but to approve."
"You will be disapproving it," Adrian deadpanned.
"Why would he?" Genevieve spoke up. "You implied minutes ago that you didn't want to be my guard anyway. Remember?"
"And I'm saying now that I want to," Adrian said flatly. He looked at his father, gaze unwavering. "I will act as her guard, not Alejandro. Take it or leave it."
"But…" Genevieve started to argue.
''No buts,'' Roberto said gently, releasing her hand to pat her back. "I will trust your safety the most only when you're with my son. Don't be scared of how he looks, just request what you want and he will provide it. He's not that scary.''
Don't be scared of how he looks?
Genevieve almost scoffed out loud but managed to tamp it down within herself. The real warning should be don't be attracted to how he looks; be scared of how he looks!
