Chapter 5 - Rags to Riches

"Boxing's a poor man's sport. We can't afford to play golf or tennis. It is what it is. It's kept so many kids off the street. It kept me off the street." - Sugar Ray Leonard

I never knew that boxing would earn us quick buck by just winning, as William goes out of the ring and walks out with Coach J as I get up from my seat and followed them as I see William all pulped up being treated by Coach J.

"It really is brutal not gonna lie, If I was in there I wouldve lost or died" as I respond sitting on a stool slightly shivering thinking about it

Coach J: "Well this is the DBC afterall, many fighters lose and die here, anyways heres your guys payments from bets and etc." as he handed both of us a small brown envelope, as it contains 2000$ in it."now you better spend it wisely and not loosely, fespite we won both fights dont get too carried away by pride or such."

William: "I know that gramps, well still thanks to the advice and treating my injuries, he hurts like hell." He responded back smirking as on his face was bandages and cotton swabs (or just cotton) on both his nose due to the bleeding on his nose.

Coach J: "quit ya whining, you can recover in a week or so, anyways Binta you should head home first, I'll take William back to his home."

He said to me as he helps William up and put him back to the car and drove off towards his home, as I took a bus back to the dorms and collapsed onto the bed tiringly as the fatigue finally catched up to me immediately, as Michael was busy reading and studying as usual.

Michael D: "welcome back, how was your first fight? You look roughed up." As he looked at me adjusting his glasses like a nerdy otaku who enjoys reading, despite his cold-ish demeanor he is slightly worried about me.

Me: "of fucking course I'm not looking too great, i didn't know adults hit very hard, my first fight was short but painful, lucky I had won, otherwise I will be turned into a pulp." I said in response looking at Michael while my body is sprawled open letting the injury lighten up knowing how painful it felt and stings after that fight.

Michael D: "Well now you know how pain feels for the first time, wait...did you say adults?" As he said very curiously looking at me thinking he had misheard it.

Me: "yeah, why? You think I was fighting same people like me?" I said curiously because his reaction wasnt as stoic and sarcastic in the end knowing I caught his interest.
