Chapter 15 - Intertwined

Jack's beastly appearance;Yet still human ran through the chains of ice, the frozen sword drawing closer. Jack furiously evaded the blade of frost, his roaring still vigorous. Both spoke.

"HOW COULD YOU!"

His shouts continued in a strike of claws against ice. In Kal, confusion could still be seen through his actions. The frozen apparition's movement became more erratic, dodging Jack's claws as well as commanding the sword to attack the ravaging human. They exchanged blows, making the ice below shudder. The human—now clawed and furious—screamed once again.

"YOU TRIED TO GET INTO MY MIND!"

His claws hit the frozen sword once again, only this time the strike felt stronger.

"YOU TRIED TO MAKE ME, KILL!"

Once again, his claws felt more potent, pushing Kal back slightly. Making kal place himself in a defensive stance.

"YOU KILLED OUR FAMILY!"

Hitting a final strike—this time pushing him with the sword—Kal's body was thrown into a wall, making it crack. Shards of ice of the broken wall dispersed in the surroundings.

Jack's breath started to catch up. Not roaring anymore, he gazed at Kal's ice body that was dropped on the floor far away. This time Jack's voice didn't roar; it made the whole cave shake.

"Sole willer of ice, you say?"

"Pathetic."

Jack's furious gaze became sharp.

"I don't care who you are, what you are."

Jack gave one step as his hands hung from his body, already bruised and worn out.

"You will pay for it all."

"My life with my parents."

He took another step, this time his voice turning rough and beastly.

"My life in the forest."

And another—now both Jack's and the beastly voice could be heard.

"They were precious to me."

Jack grabbed his heart as he walked, each step cracked the frozen floor. His very soul aching—as if fusing with another.

What is happening.

"Agch—"

Jack fell onto both of his knees, placed his hand on his neck, pressing it as if something was strangling him. His claws and furious eyes remained. The cold floor shivered.

Kal stood up, his ice form now almost fully broken. Cracks appeared on his armor, but more than that, his body was also cracked. He used his sword to help him stand, gazing at Jack with cold eyes.

He walked forward as if nothing had happened, with his sword in hand.

"HOW DARE YOU, YETI!"

"YOU DIDN'T SUBMIT TO MY WILL AND NOW THIS!"

Jack coughed, his hands now on the floor. Not understanding the meaning of his words. His claws still remained, clutching the ice.

Now Kal, already in front of him, spoke in a darker tone filled with rage, raising his sword slowly.

"GOODBYE, BOTH OF—"

Jack let an unseen smirk fall onto his mouth, his eyes suddenly normal, the pain gone.

He quickly slashed at the man of ice, tearing him into multiple pieces fragmented over the floor. The sound of ice breaking echoed in the cold room.

Jack stood up slowly as he regained composure. His throat hurt due to his screams.

"Cough—"

"Cough—"

His voice still rough, yet more tranquil than before.

A piece of Kal's head lay below him. He gazed at the crystalline head.

"The wild is ruthless..."

As he wiped a tear of sweat that fell from his cheek.

The mouth of ice still moved, giving Jack a wild smile.

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAAH—"

"Your luck is out of the charts!"

"YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS!"

"I ALREADY MURDERED THEM—NEXT IS YOU!"

The ice was slowly disintegrating into blue sparks. The sword that lay near also slowly disappearing from the hilt upward.

Jack looked at the ice face pitifully.

"Come at me then, bastard."

Kal's mouth was almost disappearing until one last echo of the ice left his mouth, followed by a sinister laughter.

"The wilderness is ruthless—"

Jack stared at the last bit of ice vanishing, but right then, before it all disappeared, a piece of blade from the sword of ice aimed for his heart.

Jack's gaze widened, attempting to dodge to the right. The half-vanishing blade missed his heart.

Yet Jack wasn't fast enough.

His own words bit him back.

The frozen blade pierced his arm through, tainting the blue cold floor in red. Burning him with the emanating frost. His arm fell onto the cold ice, torn apart from his body.

Jack shouted in agony, his face crumbling in pain.

"AAGH!"

His breath became rougher each second. Things began turning blurry. His eyes fell shut. His knees gave up leaving him to fall on the floor. There Jacks mind felt like a crash. Everything about himself was blurry. The only emotion clear was hatred. Hatred for Kal. Hatred towards the monarch of Frost.

Jack slowly opened his eyes. He was in a place devoid of light. Nothing as far as the eyes could see. Jack wasn't even sure if far itself existed. He looked down at his arms—both in place. His body was shining in white light in the middle of the void. Nothing to catch the light that spread through his body.

What the—

Suddenly, far away, a small hole of daylight could be seen slowly engulfing the dark void. Until the whole void shone, revealing a beautifully cold forest. It wasn't snowing, there was a lake in front—not frozen at all. The light of the sun reflected on the still water. Jack felt weird. He felt heavier than ever. Yet, the weirdest thing was he felt cold…

Jack had long lost the feeling of cold. The yearning for heat. Suddenly, behind him, the voice of a small beast could be heard. Yet it sounded as intellectual as the yeti.

"Dad."

Jack turned around, noticing his body felt weird. There in front of him, a small yeti walked towards him on all fours. The small yeti was covered in white fur. His face light blue and innocent. Devoid of anything someone would say beastly. Jack spoke—his voice growled.

"DAD?"

His beastly eyes widened at the sound of his voice. Jack stared down at his hands once again. His hands, now covered in white fur.

He had become Yeti.
