Anna slumped back into the seat, Clara's words echoing through her skull like a bell struck too hard.

She stared blankly through the window as her pulse thundered in her ears. A thousand questions flooded her mind at once, none of them with answers.

Fred glanced at her in the rearview mirror. "Everything okay?"
