Aidan patted his pants pocket to realize he had left his phone back in the apartment.
"Shit!"
He had come down to make a call. He had to look for an excuse to come down and there he was, without a phone.
He cursed beneath his breath again, and turned back to the elevator when he saw Fred pulling to car to a stop at the curb.
He had asked Fred to pretend to want to pick him up after dropping Anna off at home so she wouldn't suspect he was home.
Fred parked the car and stepped out.
"You didn't let me know she was at the door already, I couldn't pull off the surprise properly."
Fred shrugged with nonchalance. "Good for you."
Aidan shot him a glare and mock-punched the air beside his head. Fred chuckled, leaning out of reach before tossing the car keys to him.
"Good night, boss."
"Good night, Fred."
He watched Fred walk off, knowing full well that a car would be waiting for him by the roadside already, to pick him up.
