Kathryna's eyes fluttered open slowly and a soft gasp tore out of Sophie's lips.
"Mom?" Sophie called, and lightly tapped Kathryn's cheek. "Are you okay? I was just about to call the hospital. You scared me."
Kathryna blinked, slowly registering her surroundings. She was home, inside the mansion. But why did it feel like the floor had been ripped out from under her?
"What happened?" Her voice came out hoarse, like it hadn't been used in years.
"You suddenly collapsed." Sophie's voice still held a tinge of panic. You collapsed when Anna…" she trailed off, pointing to the TV.
The screen was blank now. The interview was done but staring at the screen jolted Kathryn's memory.
That interview.
Anna had been live, seated beside the country's top TV anchor, calmly declaring that Kathryna, Sophie, and Warren had tried to kill her.
That announcement has shocked Kathryn, causing her to suddenly lose consciousness.
