Elder Lucas's patience thinned to breaking at his grandson's reluctance and deception which forced his expression to darken. His hands folded into a steady, clenched fists.
"Leave now," he commanded, holding back his wrath from not spilling.
Noah wasn't satisfied with the outcome and thought of persuading him a little more.
"Grandpa…"
Before Noah could finish his words, his grandfather grabbed a book and hurled it at him. It struck Noah in the chest, causing a dull pain, and Annabelle shifted to the side.
"Leave! You and Zane are just embarrassing and rebellious, doing whatever you like! If you can't get married after his wedding, get ready to live on the street!" he threatened.
Elder Lucas turned to Annabelle and said, his voice grim. "You shouldn't hang around someone this unserious with his responsibilities. Find someone better. You deserve it."
