Chapter 71 - To Bear the Burden Part 1

With preparation for the secondary parties underway, I could now focus more on my own group.

"Darius, how much experience point you got from that last battle?"

I asked him as we were returning to the lobby's second floor.

"Not much. Only 3 points. It barely levelled me up."

He answered.

"Now that you're on level 3, you would get even less if we stay on the fourth floor trial."

"In that case, we would need to go to the fourth floor at least fifteen more times so I could level up again."

"You've plateaued just like us. I doubt master would send us to the fourth floor again tomorrow."

I said.

My comrades' attention suddenly directed to me.

"Are you saying we're gonna climb to the sixth floor tomorrow?"

Shanny asked.

"Possibly. There is no value left in attempting the fourth floor anymore."

I said.

"Do you think the sixth floor will be just as hard as the fifth?"

Jonah asked.

"Only one way to find out. At any rate, ready yourselves to continue climbing."

Nobody knew what the future holds. Not yet, at least.

The best we could do was to be ready for anything.

As my comrades made their way to the training ground to continue practicing, I returned to the magic hall.

Instead of the alchemy lab, I descended to the magic training hall below ground.

I positioned myself right at the center of the vast chamber and began casting a spell.

It had been many days since I started studying this form of magic.

I had practiced its formula calculation hundreds of times in my head.

It was time I put my theoretical knowledge to the test.

I opened my mana vessel and channeled the pure magical energy to the edge of my fingertips.

Whoosh…

I felt my mana gathering beneath my hands.

It was time to move into the next stage of the spell. An unfamiliar one to me.

Instead of condensing my mana into this dense hot ball of energy, I sliced my particles of mana into thinner parts, stretch them out like a thread, and let them move and flow.

Sshhhh….

I felt the threads permeating through my skins, manifesting into a gentle cold breeze.

While maintaining their delicate form, I made the converted mana flow faster.

Whooshh…

A steady current was forming on my palms.

I channeled more mana, sliced them up, stretched them out, permeated through, and fed them to the current, causing it to grow stronger.

Maintain, slice, stretch, permeate, maintain, slice, stretch, permeate.

I repeated the process over and over again. I could feel the millions of threads that I had to control without them losing their form.

Whooshh…

The current of mana was turning even stronger.

A small whirlwind began to form around me.

I sensed the coursing threads of converted mana began to drift away from the flow I was arranging.

They were begging to be thrown off course.

But I maintained the current and supplied it with more mana.

Whooshhh!

The threads flowed faster, forming this raging spinning ball of air on my palms.

The calculation was complete.

This entire process would had been easier to do had I chanted the spell at the beginning.

But I did not want to do this the easy way.

That was not how I practice my spells.

It would not necessarily help me casted it faster, anyway.

It simply helped me focus on the spell's formulation, which defeated the purpose of me trying to practice it in the first place.

Now the entire stages had been completed, it was time for me to finally chant the incantation and marked the spell's maiden casting.

Second Circle.

[Maha Vayu]

The flowing threads of mana shot out from my palms as a heavy gale stream.

It formed into a spinning torrent of wind which raged forward like a tornado.

Boom!

The powerful air current clashed against the far-off wall of the training hall, forming a massive cracked dent.
