Chapter 20 - The Dragon Capital

After more discussions about the situation, the Premier and his aide came up with a plan to put the Draugr in their place. They considered informing the world about the actions of the Draugr but as leaders in the empire, they had to consider the bigger picture. If the public were to know about what the Cursed Princess had done, there would be an uproar with many powerful families that had lost their children calling for the invasion of the Draugr domain. Even if the Premier were to still stand his ground under all the public pressure, some of these families were so powerful that they had their own private armies. They would invade on their own and the Draugr could use this as an excuse to start a much larger war. Since there were no benefit to informing the public, the Premier decided to go another route.

Back in the Draugr Domain, Hildr came to a decision about the academy she would be joining. She chose the most prestigious academy on the continent. This academy was ranked number one among the Grand Academies of Lemuria. This meant that during the tournament in seven years time, this academy would undoubtedly be invited to the Dragon Palace. The only issue remaining now was to actually join the academy. It was called the Argonaut Academy and to join it, one had to pass the hardest examination on the continent and probably the world. This examination was not just of one's classroom abilities but also their power, bloodline, and many other things. Some people were even stopped from joining due to their lineages. The examination was very thorough and no one could join without passing. The academy had enough power and backing not to care for the pressure of the various kings and even the Night King could not simply demand that his daughter be admitted. Hildr had to pass the examination. Fortunately for their plans, this was not something they had to worry about since Hildr had never failed at such things. She was very smart and her power and bloodline were most glorious.

A month came and went like the wind. On this day, the capital was filled with excitement as people came from all over the continent. These people were all bringing their children to join Argonaut Academy. Of all the academies, Argonaut Academy was the only one located in the capital. All the other were not allowed to establish themselves in the Dragon Capital. It was finally time for the new students to join the academy. Powerful noble families arrived with each passing minute. They used various means to arrive outside the capital. Some appeared in explosions of the elements such as fire, water, wind, and someone even arrived from within the earth. Some came using flying brooms and other came as transformed flying monsters from legend. All the students had to arrive before the first assembly. This was a rule that had been set by the academy. Anyone that arrived after the assembly would not be allowed to join the academy. The academy did not explain themselves and no one dared question them too harshly on this matter.

The weather had been nice with the sun shining and the sky clear but suddenly the sky was covered by dark clouds and it began raining cats and dogs. The people that had gathered to watch the arriving powerhouses of the continent were left with no choice but to leave the city walls. "This is an omen," someone said. "What kind of monster is coming to the capital?" an old man cried out. Boooom, thunder shook the heavens and lightning lit up the world. Everything was rapidly turning apocalyptic. Boooom, a thick bolt of thunder went through the world and at that moment, everyone felt as though the devil had finally crawled out of hell and come to the world of the living. It stopped raining and the rain water fell from the heavens like some sort of waterfall. Everyone was left shaken by the power it took to do something like this. By doing this, it showed that the person responsible for this had the ability to control the weather with a mastery that had not been seen in a long time.

The waterfall from the heavens suddenly parted and when people looked through the opening, they did not see the other side but a completely different place. They saw a mountainous landscape filled with lake and rivers. There were many icy mountain and endless greenery. They were seeing all the way to the Draugr Domain but very few people were able to make the connection from what little they saw. When Hildr came out of the opening in space, everyone present felt their heart skip a beat due to her great beauty and then go cold soon afterwards since this was the Cursed Princess they were looking at. Hildr was followed by a retinue of servants and soldiers. In total, there were over one hundred people that had come with her. After that over thirty carriages followed them through before the waterfall disappeared and the portal closed. These carriages were pulled by the finest Pegasus in the world. A single Pegasus was so expensive that some domains could bankrupt themselves trying to buy one but right now, over thirty of them were being used by the same person. This was unbelievable until one remembered that this was the princess of the Draugr Domain, one of the wealthiest domains, if not the wealthiest.

The most luxurious carriage that was made from the finest wood with golden decorations moved closer to Hildr and a young pretty maid opened the door for her. She got in and the carriage entered the city. She was followed by the other carriages that had been boarded by her soldiers and servants. The space inside the carriages was more than large enough for all of them to be comfortable. The Pegasus did not use the gate. They flapped their wings and flew above the city. All the Pegasus were as black as ink and the carriages were grander than imagination. Many people had arrived in flashy ways but Hildr had outdone all of them.
