The birds weren't exactly doing much to hide their hakis, he could sense that the weakest of them was D rank and there were probably thousand of them.
There were even seven at C rank, they were easy to identify as their feathers were a shade darker and they were larger, with a wingspan of close to 200 metres.
He watched her from hundreds of kilometres on the ground, she looked like a speck from this distance. You really crazy, he said softly.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Athena watched the flock of birds in front of her. With the brat out of the way, she had no reason to hold back but something plagued her mind.
Creatures of this rank even if they have a low grade bloodline should still have enough intelligence to tell that picking a fight with her would not be wise but they did.
She stretched her shoulders, she hadn't had a chance to stretch herself in a while. Being the vise guild master was a really troublesome job, it gave her the same administrative work she ran away from back home.
It was fortunate she had Lisa with her, that girl was really good at that stuff. The biggest bird, the one that blocked her attack screeched and flew towards her.
It was almost as fast as she was, which means it could move multiple time the speed of lighting. She materials a hundred metres long sword from her golden energy.
Instead of attacking the bird infront of her she flew around it, the wings on her back flapping with speed, each flap increasing her speed by multiple levels.
The space bent with her movements, if the space of this Star world was not so compact she would've broken it. She arrived in the middle of the flock and swung her sword.
The air split apart from her swing, tens of the things were splits apart, blood and organs falling to the ground like rain. She continued dancing between them.
Luke a reaper, every swing tasted blood and life was extinguished yet they still showed no fear which confused her. The seven C rank birds kept chasing after her shooting their crystal feathers at her which grew back immediately but they all missed, infact they sometimes hit their own.
They were fast but they were also much larger than she was so she was using her size against them. She flew between their wings dodging their attacks causing them to hit each other instead.
With beings of their level everything happens incredibly fast, it had been less than two seconds yet she had killed over 60 percent of the D rank birds.
They were useless against her, she was so fast they looked like they were standing still to her, normally that would be not be the case.
D rank beast would be fast enough to react to her but it seems these ones could not. They appeared stronger than they should be, she knew these birds and they were not this strong.
However even though their strength had increased, it appears their intent is gone and they lack will, two very fundamental aspect in a fight of this level, they are closer to ownerless golems as they are.
She had her suspicions why that is and it involved demons, they seem to be making their move. She needs to report this to her father but she had to settle the brat first.
Without intent their speed and reaction is dulled, only the C rank ones seem to still contain a fragment of theirs. A few seconds later only the seven were left.
She turned her sword into pure energy and absorbed it back into her body. Two smaller swords that fit her hands appeared on each of her hand.
A golden Haki covered her body. The pressure in the surrounding increased, the wind picked up and dark clouds suddenly covered the sky.
This was her battle intent. Crystal like red intent covered the birds but it looked fickle like a dying old man. They looked at each other until one of the birds screeched and flew at her.
She moved, she was not running from them this time. The other birds followed, the first tried to peck her with it giant beak but she rose higher and it head passed below her.
She swung her right sword at it neck, a golden crescent slash flew at blinding speed to the creature. There was a bit of resistance from it crystal intent but a moment later it head flew.
She had decapitated it, she did feel like it body was much more durable than it normally was for their kind but not enough to stop her sword. As she was fighting a messenger pigeon appeared next to her with a note, she read the note and frowned, she got distracted for an instant.
The others were already upon her, one waved it giant wing at her, she raised her left sword to block. The collision sent shockwaves flying for hundreds of kilometres, fortunately there was no settlements nearby and the kid was protected by her barrier.
She flew under the bird and split it stomach open, blood and guts fell out, she grinned with a tiny satisfaction, in normal situations the remaining 5 would be vigilant of her but as they were, they did not know the word fear.
They chased after her, splitting the air like a cloth with their speed. She turned and looked at them, she clapped her hands together like she was praying. Sorry but I have to end this, she said to birds, not expecting an answer ofcourse
Golden chains materialized in the air and bounded the annoying things. I don't have time to waste with you anymore so be gone, she said clicking her tongue.iron maiden.
She whispered, a kilometre tall and hundred metres wide iron maiden descended from the sky splitting the clouds apart, it had the face of a beautiful woman whose saddened face was captured in melted gold. The birds screeched in anger but the chains held them tight.
The iron maiden appeared to descend slowly but it was actually incredibly fast, this was one of her most powerful techniques and it took quite a chunk of mana to cast.
The iron maiden opened like a mother welcoming their child with a hug, long golden spikes with a faint white aura appeared on all sides of the iron maiden, it enveloped the birds and closed with a bang that shook the air, she could still feel them shaking trying to break free but she knew it was pointless, their deaths were inevitable.
As mana costly as the technique was, it was quite powerful, it spikes could stab souls and it does not even leave a corpse behind. Within seconds the maiden disappeared with the dead birds inside.
She sighed, damn things wasted my time
