Chapter 23 - Times Square

"System, I choose the first one."

The moment Lin Hao made his decision, the familiar mechanical voice echoed in his mind.

> Ding!

"The host has selected Option One — Times Square, Shanghai. Estimated value: 6 billion RMB. The property ownership certificate will be delivered to your residence by courier at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning."

Ding.

"System upgrade in progress...please wait."

As the system's words faded, Lin Hao's eyes widened slightly.

"So… I just became 6 billion richer?"

The next moment, the system confirmed it.

> "Net worth updated. Total assets increased by 6 billion RMB."

After this, there was no answer from the system.

At first,he was amazed at his luck that he was able to code such expensive black box that it helped him cross the 10 billion RMB goal and double his net Worth at the same time.

Lin Hao leaned back on his bed and chuckled softly. "Alright, that's pretty damn good. And it's being delivered right to my doorstep? Now that's efficiency."

Yawning, he exited the system. "Alright then, I'll check it out in the morning."

After all, it was still early — and billionaires needed their sleep too.

Though,he was excited but now that he has the system he can't get excited at everything and make himself look like a fool.

---

The next morning.

A sharp knock knock jolted Lin Hao awake.

Blinking the sleep from his eyes, he glanced at the clock. "Eight o'clock… oh, right. The system delivery."

Without hesitation, he jumped out of bed, pulled on a T-shirt, and rushed to open the door.

"Hello, please sign for your package," said the courier politely, his helmet glinting under the morning light.

"Sure, thanks for your hard work," Lin Hao replied, quickly signing the delivery receipt.

The moment the door closed, he tore open the package with eager hands. Inside was a black folder sealed with a golden emblem. He flipped it open — and his breath caught.

> Property Certificate — Times Square (Shanghai)

Owner: Lin Hao

For a moment, silence. Then, a slow grin spread across his face.

"I… actually own Times Square."

The thought sent a strange thrill through his body. Though he had already gained a few luxury assets, this one felt different — real estate in the heart of Shanghai.

He signed the last page of the document without hesitation. After all, he trusted the system more than most humans.

Just as he finished, his phone started ringing.

"The night gave me a pair of eyes, and I use them to look for light…"

He smirked. "At least that's better than The Vast Horizon is My Love."

Answering, he said, "Hello?"

A professional yet pleasant female voice came from the other end. "Hello, is this Mr. Lin Hao? I'm Wang Xue, the general manager of Times Square Property Management."

Lin Hao leaned back on his sofa. "Yes, this is Lin Hao. What can I do for you?"

"Mr. Lin, congratulations on your recent acquisition," Wang Xue said respectfully. "We've received confirmation of your ownership transfer this morning. Our staff and I would like to invite you to the property office for a short verification meeting and to formally welcome you as the new owner."

"Alright," Lin Hao said casually. "I'll be there later today."

After hanging up, he smiled faintly. "Times Square, huh? That still sounds unreal."

He stretched lazily.

Thinking back to the days when he used to work so hard to just afford eating and a bit of other stuff.

Lin Hao didn't mind. "I've got assets that work for me now."

---

That afternoon, Lin Hao decided to head out.

He decided to go by his Big-G.(I think he just loves his Big-G.hahaha.Well,I sound like a fool now (>y<))

When he arrived at Times Square, the place was already buzzing with energy.

Several men and women in suits stood neatly at the entrance. They looked both nervous and respectful — clearly waiting for him.

"Looks like I'm the star today," Lin Hao murmured with a smirk as he stepped out of the taxi.

On the other side, Wang Xue had been preparing non-stop since early morning. She had ordered the cleaning staff to polish every tile and glass wall, notified all the store owners to maintain cleanliness and good manners, and even lit subtle air fresheners throughout the lobby.

It wasn't overkill — it was survival. A single bad impression could mean being replaced overnight.

By the time Lin Hao arrived, Wang Xue was waiting at the door, her professional smile perfectly in place.

"Mr. Lin, welcome! You're even younger and more impressive than in the photos," she said warmly, bowing slightly.

Lin Hao returned a polite nod. "Thank you, Manager Wang."

"Please, this way," she said, gesturing him in.

As they walked through the lobby, Lin Hao took in the sight of spotless glass, gleaming marble floors, and the respectful greetings from merchants.

So this is what owning a multi- billion-yuan property feels like… not bad.

Inside the office, Wang Xue guided him to the manager's seat — her own — and handed him the latest rent reports.

Lin Hao began flipping through the pages, scanning each line carefully.

Quarterly rent for shop No. 07: 120,000 RMB.

Shop No. 08: 108,000 RMB.

Shop No. 15: 140,000 RMB.

There were nearly a hundred stores in total. Even a quick calculation told him that the property was a goldmine.

He couldn't help but mutter under his breath, "At this rate, I could just collect rent and retire."

Wang Xue, noticing his silence, grew anxious. "Mr. Lin, are… you satisfied with our management?"

"It's fine," Lin Hao replied calmly without looking up. "The property seems well maintained."

Wang Xue immediately relaxed, though her nerves still lingered.

Lin Hao finally looked up, smiling faintly. "Don't worry. I'm not here to replace anyone — as long as you keep doing a good job."

Relief washed over her face. "Thank you, Mr. Lin. We'll continue to maintain the highest standards."

He nodded. "Also, here's my account number. Once all rent payments are collected, transfer them directly to me."

"Yes, of course!" Wang Xue said quickly.

Lin Hao stood, adjusting his sleeves. "One more thing — inform everyone that this month's salary will be doubled, and starting next month, it'll be increased by 15%."

Wang Xue's eyes widened in disbelief. "Mr. Lin… you're really generous!"

Lin Hao waved casually. "If you want your horse to run, you need to feed it well. That's basic management."

And with that, he turned and left.

---

After Lin Hao departed, Wang Xue's staff immediately surrounded her.

"Sister Wang, what did Mr. Lin say? Is he replacing us?"

"Are we losing our jobs?"

"I don't care about the job — I just wanted a chance to date him!"

"Stop dreaming," another said. "You think a man like that would look at you twice?"

Wang Xue sighed, then raised her voice. "Quiet, all of you!"

Everyone froze.

"Mr. Lin is very satisfied with our work," she said with a proud smile. "He asked us to continue managing the property."

Cheers erupted instantly.

"Long live President Lin!"

"Thank you, Sister Wang!"

"Calm down," Wang Xue said, though even she was smiling now. "That's not all — he also said everyone's salary this month will be doubled, and future pay will increase by 15%."

The room went silent for half a second — and then exploded with joy.

"Seriously?!"

"President Lin is the best boss ever!"

"I'm going to work overtime for free tonight!"

Wang Xue chuckled quietly, shaking her head. "Alright, everyone back to work. Mr. Lin has treated us well — we should show we're worth it."

As her staff dispersed, she sank into her chair, exhaling deeply. "Hah… exhausting, but totally worth it."

Meanwhile, Lin Hao strolled down the bustling Shanghai streets outside, hands in his pockets.
