It was early in the morning. Usually, by this hour, Alexander High School would be preparing to receive students. However, today, the front entrance stood eerily empty.
On the top floor of the building, a woman in a school uniform was speaking on the phone.
"Send a message to all students. No one is to come today."
"Understood, my lady."
The voice on the other end hung up.
Lady Miya walked toward the large window and looked down. Police cars were parked near the school gates. She clenched her teeth.
"Who did this...?"
CRACK
Her phone's screen shattered as she crushed it in her hand.
A knock echoed at the door.
"Come in," she said.
The door opened. A tall young man with green hair stepped in, wearing the Alexander uniform.
"My lady," he greeted.
"Joshua."
He handed her a few photographs.
"These are from the security cameras. It seems the man disguised himself as one of us to get inside."
"Why was he allowed in?"
"The guard claims he doesn't remember exactly why he let him pass. Looking at the man's face, he was clearly far too young to be a driver."
"He doesn't know?" Miya asked sharply.
"Yes. We suspect he's covering for the organization behind this attack," Joshua replied.
Miya studied the photos.
"The man did a good job dodging the cameras. We couldn't get a clear image of him. Based on what we have, he appears to be a young adult—early 30s, fair skin, black hair, and brown eyes."
"Besides the skin tone, I doubt any of that is useful."
"What do you mean, my lady?""Here."
Miya pointed to a detail in one of the images.
"Look at his head. Some parts of his hair aren't moving—clearly a wig. That alone tells us that whatever can be camouflaged, has been camouflaged."
"I... I see."
"Give me the sequence of events. Every detail. Don't leave anything out," Miya commanded.
"Yes, my lady! So, after the intruder entered the premises, he went to the fifth-floor bathroom. There, he assaulted two students and stole their uniforms."
"What about the students? Do they recognize the attacker?"
"They're in the hospital—unconscious. But one of them managed to tell us he thought the attacker was a guard. He identified the man in the picture."
'Were they specifically chosen? Or was it a coincidence? Could they have been used as camouflage? No… they wouldn't injure themselves so badly… Still…'
"Investigate those students. I want to know if they've behaved unusually in the last few days."
"Yes."
"Continue."
"Okay. The man then approached a student—Hugo Wegner, who's now in the ICU."
"Can he talk?"
"We doubt he ever will..."
"Why?"
"The intruder used a taser directly on his temple. According to the doctors, it nearly fried his brain. He'll live, but… he'll be mentally impaired for the rest of his life."
"Useless!" Miya shouted.
"I-I'm sorry, my lady!"
"Continue!"
"Y-yes. Then the man used Hugo Wegner's identity to infiltrate the party," Joshua explained, showing a picture of Noah.
"Who's the person behind him?"
"A student marked for re-education—Carly Thorson."
Carly Thorson… Miya thought.
"What else?"
"There were no cameras at the party, so we don't know exactly what happened. However, we believe we know what he was after."
"What was it?"
Joshua hesitated, sweat forming on his brow.
"It… it was…"
"Speak!"
"It was a laptop… WS01… ma'am."
BANG
Miya's eyes glowed red as her desk split in half from the force of her rage.
"M-my lady… please calm down."
She took a deep breath.
"Has it been taken care of?"
"Yes. As soon as Mrs. Roxanne began her stream, Mrs. Maria sent a ransom message. We didn't give the intruder enough time to create a backup."
"Good."
Ring Ring
Her smartwatch vibrated.
"The boarding school is calling. Come. We'll be busy for the next few days."
"Yes, my lady."
"Let Maria and Luisa handle this."
"Understood."
"They have one day. If, by tomorrow, I don't have that man begging for his life in my office…"
Suddenly, a blood-red aura engulfed Miya.
"They will know… WHO. I. AM."
Joshua fell to his knees. Trembling, he bit his lip in fear.
"Yes… my lady…"
