Chapter 28 - Masochist Versus Maniac

A white chain like construct was wrapped around both of their necks. Courtesy of Ji Won's 'perk'—[Equalizer] which as its name suggested equalizes everything about them. Down to their very stats.

'This skill lasts for three minutes.. I need to damage this monster enough for him to be satisfied with us and leave...'

Ji Won's throat went dry as he took in a deep breath—trying to keep himself calm and collected. His eyes glued onto his opponent who was now drenched in the rain, just like them all.

Han Dae-sik took a few steps towards Ji Won, letting out a huff before lunging forward—tackling the kid to the ground as he raised his hand high into the air, bringing it down on Ji Won's face, the attack making the concrete beneath the second year's head rubble.

Ji Won tanked the punch—ignoring the pain completely as he grabbed Han Dae-sik's wrist throwing him towards the trees before he took the chain around their neck and reeled back the hunter towards him.

The hunter let himself be pulled back—putting forward his knee as it landed on Ji Won's chest, ribs cracking beneath it but to his surprise. Ji Won didn't even budge.

'This kid. Either he doesn't feel pain, or he just doesn't care.. Good... I'll be able to pummel him even further now.'

Ji Won had the air knocked out of him but he didn't let up, he wrapped both of his arms around Han Dae-sik's waist and tried to attempt a Suplex on him but then-

Crack...

Han Dae-sik had already broken Ji Won's right forearm but now? He had totally crushed the bones into pieces, his arm now completely useless but much to the hunter's shock—Ji Won didn't let out a single squeak or grunt.

He squeezed Ji Won's forearm tighter, veins appearing all through out his own hand but Ji Won didn't care—he just punched Han Dae-sik with his left hand, the only one that is usable now.

Han Dae-sik skidded backwards—he was even more entertained now, feeling more... Enjoyment. Seeing that Ji Won was slowly but surely losing it made him feel alive.

"Kid... Even with this massively strong skill.. You're barely landing even a hit on me! Is this what the Hyuk's have produced even after their last three children were stillborn?! You're a curse breaker! Act like it!!"

Ji Won's cursed arm started glowing red, black veins going up to his neck—then to his left eye, turning it into a deep maroon color, the pupil completely golden.

"Shut up.."

His words were sounding a lot more like growls now, his left ear also turning more like an elf's—seeing that Ji Won was actually becoming a bit.. Crazy, Han Dae-sik ran towards him.

"Make me!"

Ji Won's right arm—which was fully purple and more like dead-weight, suddenly sprouted back to life, grabbing the hunter's collar and throwing him onto the ground, allowing Ji Won to land a swipe of his hand which now resembled a claw.

The shards of the Radius and Ulna bones wanted to knit themselves back together—just needed a small push. And Ji Won- No, something else gave them that push.

Ji Won grabbed Han Dae-sik's hair and bit down on the muscles next to his shoulder—teeth now resembling fangs that dug into Han Dae-sik's flesh, sucking his blood.

But—being the freak he is Han Dae-sik let Ji Won bite down on him. He too ignored the pain albeit not as effectively as Ji Won does.

'This brat's curse.. It isn't normal... I think it harbors a will.. That hag will deal with it.'

The hunter put his arms around Ji Won's neck and tried choking him—but Ji Won only became more ferocious—but Han Dae-sik tightened his grip around the boys neck, both of them falling to the ground.

'Not again, not again.. I won't lose again..'

Ji Won's internal voice wasn't his anymore, it was a lot more like the Elf from the dungeon.

'I WON'T LOSE HERE!!'

He let out a beastly roar, forcing himself out of Han Dae-sik's chokehold and jumping away. Red froth filling his mouth, breaths coming in the form of ragged gasps and growls.

The chain that had bound their neck together was broken—the Equalizer skill had ended but Ji Won's rampage hadn't ended. He dashed forward, his right eye closed completely the golden pupil rapidly dilating then contracting.

Han Dae-sik however was now smirking—not out of confidence, but he was now fully satisfied. Knowing that he had completed his purpose long ago.

"Alright. Goodnight Curse Breaker."

He appeared above the hunched over Ji Won in an instant and slammed his fists into the back of Ji Won's head—knocking out the cursed child almost immediately. The curse retreating from his eyes back to his elbows.

His eyes flickered over towards the club leaders, all of which were on the ground except Sae Jaehyun and Soo-jin. The latter basically unharmed by the hunter.

'Oh yeah.. That girl exists as well.. She wasn't fighting but I guess I should at least punch her twice.'

He thought to himself as he approached Soo-jin. Ignoring Sae Jaehyun completely—but that was a small mistake he made.

The Blood Assassin stepped in front of Soo-jin, holding a pair of blood red, crystal like daggers in his hands as he slashed them both at Han Dae-sik who as expected dodged due to his pausing of time.

But Sae Jaehyun wanted exactly that.

The club leader managed to pierce the hunter's skin with the tip of his daggers before time was stopped again—Sae Jaehyun had figured out Han Dae-sik's weakness.

'Oh? Interesting.. This kid knows I can't stop time for a split second after using the Pause skill.. Well, I'm running late. I should just end this...'

He took a step forward—time stopping, not just for a second this time. The students were frozen, unable to move. The surroundings a deep gray. The hunter walked over to Sae Jaehyun.

'I've barely used this skill. I can stop time for a whole minute now.. I can use it a few times a year... First time.'

He punched Sae Jaehyun in the face a few times. The student like a statue. Unaffected—but once time started passing normally, he would feel the affects instantly.

Then Ryong Il was next, just a kick to the neck was enough—then Pan Sooyun. a slap. But when he got to Soo-jin.

Before he could attack her, a golden arm of light sprouted from her back, unaffected by the time stoppage as it tried to attack the hunter.

Han Dae-sik's eyes widened to the size of saucers—he grabbed the fist before it could touch him but then he realized something. Soo-jin definitely wasn't your average summoner.

'A Spirit Summoner.. She can't summons monsters, she can summon elemental spirits—since their unaffected by time and all.. My skills are near useless.'

He pushed the fist back with ease—even if it was a spirit. He was still far too strong for a summoner like Soo-jin to overpower him without a high level Spirit.

He kneed Soo-jin in the stomach, a little bit more gently in fact—he wanted to see her sprout to her full potential, not die because of him being too strong.

Byeon Min-ki was crouched on the ground. Haven given up after a failed attack. His expression showing that he was deep in thought. And this absolutely annoyed Han Dae-sik. The hunter walking towards him.

'This brat's an Elemental Archer but he hadn't even used an elemental skill.. Stupid. I think he'll become a failed star.. He's now Jupiter, strongest of the weak.'

Byeon Min-ki was hit by a simple punch. Han Dae-sik wasn't one to waste his energy on someone who gave up.

Just when the time stop was about to run out, he turned around and what he saw—definitely was the most surprisingly thing he saw this day.

There he was, Ji Won. Standing—paused in time but standing nonetheless despite having injuries that would make people feel hopeless, he still wanted to fight.

He ran forward—headbutting Ji Won. Not wanting him to lose control like he did. He was already running short of time.

'Hyuk Ji Won.. Sae Jaehyun, Han Soo-jin, Pan Sooyun, Ryong Il.. I'll remember each of these names. They'll grow a lot stronger, maybe even strong enough to reach the Special SS-Rank..'

Time started—everyone falling to the ground, injured and definitely unconscious. The rain stopping as the sun peeked out from the clouds. Illuminating Seoul Hunter Grounds once more.

The sound of a lone person approaching was heard as Han Dae-sik turned around, an excited look in his blank eyes as he took his sunglasses off—putting them in his front pocket.

"Oh my.. If it isn't... What's your name again?"
