Luka watched the library doors close with an inscrutable expression, all alone in the library. Cielo had arrived and left in such a flurry.
Maybe he had misunderstood the Bianci, and Cielo wasn't petrified of him… Luka didn't remain at the library for long, dematerializing to his room to sit with his thoughts.
He had achieved what he'd wanted, no? He had returned the books to Cielo and glimpsed the truth that the Bianci didn't truly despise him. It should be easy to return to his usual life at the castle.
Luka didn't realize how long he spent ruminating on the scene at the library until the early hours of the morning. He forewent sleep completely because Housekeeper Attica chose that moment to report to him that the guests were about to depart.
"Their horses are at the ready, the carriages already stationed outside the gates." She reported calmly, her sharp gaze studying the young Duke.
"Very well." Luka waved a hand dismissively.
