That night, after all the tipsy customers had left, the Boar Hat tavern held its first staff meeting.
"So, Elizabeth is the princess of this country, and she wants to find the Seven Deadly Sins to rescue the king because of the Holy Knights' rebellion.
And the Captain is the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins, who are known as great sinners."
Stella summarized what Elizabeth had said, then said with a determined expression, "What? Those Holy Knights are actually bad guys!
Don't worry, Elizabeth-chan; Drake and I will help you send those guys flying."
After spending half a day together, the two girls, who were both princesses, had become good friends.
Drake had only given Stella a basic overview of this world before, and hadn't had time to go into the specific details.
Now, upon hearing Elizabeth's story, Stella immediately expressed her desire to help.
What could Drake do? Of course, he nodded in agreement. Moreover, whether it was the study of Chaos or curses, it had to be done with the two of them, so providing assistance was a form of payment.
Meliodas smiled, saying, "That's a big help; then the first task is to find those guys.
That's what's giving me a headache; we have absolutely no information on those guys right now."
Drake tapped on the table, saying, "Speaking of which, I do have some information."
Meliodas asked curiously, "What kind of information?"
Drake replied, "Aside from the Sin of Pride, who's whereabouts are unknown, I have a pretty good idea of where the other members of the Seven Deadly Sins are.
As it happens, one of them is nearby; the Serpent's Sin of Envy, Diane, is in the White Dream Forest that the villagers mentioned earlier. It should be easy to find her."
Meliodas couldn't help but give Drake a deep look, saying, "I'm starting to wonder what you really are, Drake; not only do you have such great strength, but you're also so good at gathering intelligence."
Drake smiled, saying, "It's nothing; I'm just a little stronger than the average person!"
Saying this, Drake stretched out his hand, separating his index finger and thumb by a slight gap, describing what he meant by "a little."
Meliodas was an open-minded person, and didn't dwell on Drake's identity, saying, "Since we have information, then let's go take a look tomorrow!"
Everyone had a personality that valued action, and didn't hesitate once they had made a decision. So, early the next morning, the group traveled light and headed towards the White Dream Forest, which was located southwest of Bania Village.
It was called the White Dream Forest because it was constantly shrouded in white mist.
Perhaps because it didn't see the light of day, even the trees here looked withered, making the place even more eerie and terrifying.
Meliodas, resting his hands behind his head, said in a relaxed tone, "I see; the roads here aren't suitable for riding horses, and it's also very easy to get lost. Even hunters and travelers avoid this forest; it's definitely a good place to hide."
Elizabeth, feeling somewhat frightened by the surrounding atmosphere, asked, "But where should we go to find Diane-sama?"
Drake frowned; this mist was indeed problematic, and seemed to be a product of natural magic power. The mist severely hindered magic power sensing, and Drake couldn't sense Diane's location at the moment.
However… Drake turned his head, saying, "Before we find Diane, let's deal with these guys around us first!"
Hawk's ears perked up, and he shouted, "Don't tell me the legendary monsters of the White Dream Forest have appeared! I don't want to be eaten!"
The first half of his sentence was fine, but the second half was emphasized. Even Hawk himself was startled, and turned his head to see five or six "Hawks" that looked exactly like him.
Drake stroked his chin; although the main inhabitants of Britannia were the five major races, there were also many other races.
For example, the Vampire Clan, who had interacted with the Seven Deadly Sins, and various magical beast races.
The creatures before him should be what were known as "Gremlin." These creatures, which looked exactly like goblins from other worlds, were, as their name suggested, best at playing tricks.
Using the environment of the White Dream Forest, they could perfectly transform into any image, in order to scare away intruders who entered the forest.
However, these trick-like methods were only good for fooling people; Drake could clearly distinguish which one was the real Hawk.
After all, Hawk wasn't just an ordinary pig; those tricks couldn't simulate a pair of eyes that could communicate with Purgatory.
Hawk instinctively wanted to run to everyone's side, and the imposters also quickly followed. But their footsteps soon stopped, because they had been locked onto by Drake's magic power.
"Get lost!"
Drake uttered a single word, but that one word alone made all the imposters tremble, and after a puff of white smoke, they reverted to their original forms.
Short bodies, ugly faces, and tattered hoods only added to their eerie appearance.
The magic power that Drake had revealed alone made them sense a deadly danger; there was no way they would dare to stay, and they all turned around and burrowed into the white mist.
Meliodas walked over to Drake, saying, "You're a really terrifying guy!"
Drake smiled, saying, "Shouldn't you be saying that I'm reliable, as a companion?"
Meliodas also smiled, saying, "You have a point."
Stella said, "Shouldn't we hurry up and chase after them? Maybe they can lead us to our target."
Everyone agreed, and quickly chased after the direction the Gremlins had fled.
In the distance, the figure of a girl lying on her side appeared before them.
"Is that a girl?" Elizabeth asked in confusion; how could there be a girl in this kind of place?
Hawk guessed, "Are they going to attack that girl?"
Elizabeth said worriedly, "How could they do that, she's so petite…."
Elizabeth trailed off, unable to continue, because that girl was anything but petite.
The girl lying there was like a small hill; she was probably at least nine meters tall when standing.
Having been awakened from her slumber by the Gremlins, and hearing them say that the Holy Knights were coming, Diane's morning grumpiness had completely exploded.
However, she quickly recognized the person she was holding, and didn't drop Meliodas on the ground.
This time, because it wasn't just Meliodas and Elizabeth alone (Hawk: Don't ignore me!), Diane didn't act up with Meliodas.
Of course, Drake thought that Diane would eventually notice Meliodas' special attitude towards Elizabeth during their upcoming journey.
Of course, the fact that Diane had mistaken Hawk for a souvenir that Meliodas had brought and almost roasted him wasn't important.
And so, the second member of the Seven Deadly Sins, the Serpent's Sin of Envy, had successfully rejoined the group, and the Boar Hat's next destination was the Baste Prison, which held important prisoners of the kingdom.
Because of the spear that Drake had returned to Gilthunder, he was still recovering from his injuries, and naturally wouldn't come to the White Dream Forest. Meliodas also wouldn't deliberately injure him in order to extract information, like in the original story.
But the Baste Prison was guarded by Holy Knights, so a battle was inevitable. Drake naturally had to make some preparations.
There was another interesting setting in this world: Sacred Treasures.
King, the Grizzly's Sin of Sloth, had once used lake water to describe magic power, and tools were the way to draw water from it. Among them, the tools that could perfectly display the effects of magic power were called "Sacred Treasures."
In other words, in order to unleash their full strength, they had to have their Sacred Treasures in hand.
This was also one of the reasons why Meliodas' current strength was so low; the broken blade he used was a high-level magic tool, a fragment of the Coffin of Eternal Darkness, but it didn't even qualify as a weapon, so how could it unleash much power?
Diane was also the same; she had carelessly lost her Sacred Treasure, and the combat power she could unleash now was limited.
Although he knew that both of them would eventually find their Sacred Treasures, they needed a substitute in the meantime. There were many battles waiting for them, and they couldn't possibly be willing to hide behind Drake all the time.
On the way to Baste Prison, Meliodas stood on the lookout tower, waving the short rod in his hand, saying, "It's pretty handy! I didn't expect Drake to have such skills."
Drake certainly wouldn't be inside the moving Boar Hat; transportation whatsoever was something he detested.
So, Drake used flight magic to follow the Boar Hat, with Diane, who was playing with her new gauntlets, beside him.
Considering Meliodas' inner turmoil, Drake hadn't created a sharp weapon for him, but had only given him a short rod.
And Diane had received a pair of gauntlets that protected her hands.
Although he didn't know what the Sacred Treasures of this world were like, creating weapons that could unleash their power wasn't a problem for Drake.
Diane bumped her fists together, saying, "This is a big help; with these, I can easily send those Holy Knights flying!"
Meliodas inserted the short rod into his belt; as expected, his intuition had always been accurate, and Drake was indeed an excellent helper.
