Chapter 111 - Chapter 111:

Chapter 111

Everyone thought the battle would end soon.

Without the orbital bombardment of the Chaos Navy, the Cadians were no weaklings against the daemon horde. In fact, the soldiers of Cadia had unmatched experience fighting the creatures of the Warp. Among all the Astra Militarum, they held the lowest casualty ratio when facing daemons.

And the Imperium had brought its own daemon army.

The Cursed Legion opened fire, their weapons spitting fury to suppress the daemon charge.

Not to be outdone, the Godzilla Legion clashed with the daemons of Khorne—the most savage killers of all. One side roared with challenge, the other with bloodlust, and the battlefield became a contest of slaughter.

For a time, the daemons were pushed back. The losses outpaced the reinforcements pouring from the portals, forcing them into retreat. Trazyn, observing the flow of battle, began to think the war was already decided.

But where was Godzilla?

Godzilla was busy chasing down the Chaos Titans.

Inside a Lord-class Titan, one of the crewmen looked back in panic. The towering figure of Godzilla was following them with unhurried steps, every movement carrying crushing weight.

"Damn it—he's still chasing us!"

"The War Dog Titan packs, support us!"

"Support? Against that? Godzilla's immune to almost everything we throw at him!"

Almost? Don't flatter yourselves. Without melee weapons, the War Dogs couldn't scratch his hide. At best, their harpoon guns could restrict his movement, but piercing Godzilla's flesh was another matter entirely.

And harpoons were for armor-piercing. Against living flesh, they could barely scratch him.

"Don't we have bigger Titans? Why hasn't the Warmaster sent them? Did he abandon us?!"

"We're separated by a void shield! Dropping Titans now would be suicide!"

Even Titans needed escorts. Emperor-class Titans most of all—they were so massive that enemy formations could swarm and overwhelm them. Without a full battle group and ground support, even the mightiest war engine risked being dragged down by sheer numbers.

"Damn it, who's going to stop Godzilla? Just buy us some time!"

The presence of the beast was suffocating. He hadn't even unleashed his atomic breath yet, nor was he moving at full speed, but still everyone felt death closing in around them.

"Who's going to fight him? Nobody can stop that monster!"

Just then, a colossal airdrop pod slammed down from orbit. It wasn't a pod so much as a falling fortress.

"Reinforcements?!"

"The Warmaster hasn't abandoned us!"

The Chaos Titans picked up speed, retreating quickly. Godzilla raised his head, eyes narrowing.

'Another airdrop?'

[Careful. That's not a Chaos Titan.]

The pod struck the earth like a meteor. From the rising smoke emerged a hulking beast, shaped in the image of Godzilla himself—though twisted with machinery and Warp-taint. Even if it were thrown into an Ultraman movie set, it wouldn't have looked out of place.

The newest daemon engine, forged by Vashtorr: Gatron.

It roared, a savage metallic bellow that echoed like its fellow daemon engines.

Godzilla looked the creature over. Its dragon-like mechanical head opened and closed with grinding steel. Its arms ended in clawed gauntlets bristling with weapons—twin rotary cannons fused into its wrists. Thick armored legs supported its frame, while a segmented mechanical tail dragged behind.

'This thing's meant for me, huh?'

For the first time, Godzilla felt himself being specifically targeted.

'Doesn't even look like Warhammer 40K style…'

[Stop complaining. At this point, players are already saying GW doesn't understand their own game.]

'GW never understood Warhammer. Look at the new Votann Alliance—Space Dwarfs, eaten and spat out just to sell models. They even recycled the old demi-humans. Might as well have fed them to the Zerg.'

Indeed, Gatron's design didn't fit the usual grimdark aesthetic. But that was no accident—it had been made to counter Godzilla, so its resemblance was no coincidence.

While Godzilla grumbled, Gatron's dragon head split open, spewing a blazing fireball straight into his chest.

'Tsk.'

The blast interrupted his rant, leaving him annoyed.

Godzilla stepped forward, unshaken. Gatron didn't follow up—its first attack had only been to provoke him.

When Godzilla drew close, Gatron's eyes glowed blood-red, firing twin beams into his chest. Unlike ordinary energy, these were infused with daemonic power, and they actually made Godzilla stagger.

But he didn't stop.

'This kind of pain? For someone who's endured Red Lotus mode, it's nothing but an itch!'

Godzilla opened his jaws and retaliated. But instead of his signature atomic breath, he unleashed a torrent of blinding white flame.

The incandescent blaze roared across the battlefield. Gatron flinched, confused—he had never seen Godzilla use such a weapon. Thinking it some kind of trick, he raised his arms to block.

The white fire scorched him, burning his armor red-hot, but it failed to melt through. The daemon engine's body was built to resist heat.

Gatron lowered his arm with a mechanical snarl.

'Boy, does this scare you?'

Godzilla's eyes gleamed with amusement, almost human.

"My god is the same as ever," Isis murmured, watching.

"Do you want me to support him?" Katata asked.

"Are you doubting my god?" Isis snapped. "When he fights, do not interfere! Go strike down those Chaos Titans instead. I'll lead the troops to contain the daemons."

She knew the Warp-spawn were endless, but the Cadians were not. If their numbers dwindled too far, the line would break.

Back on the battlefield, Godzilla's little "conversation" with Gatron was finished.

Now the real fight began.

Gatron moved first, raising his mechanical claw. The rotary cannon mounted in his wrist spat not shells but beams of icy blue light.

They slammed into Godzilla, encasing his torso in thick sheets of frost.

'Hm? Freezing rays? Not bad… but not strong enough.'

With a single swipe of his claws, Godzilla shattered the ice around his abdomen.

"Not strong enough."

Even Trazyn, watching from afar, understood. Freezing weapons could restrain Godzilla, yes—but only if they were strong enough. To truly freeze him would take weapons that could reach absolute zero in localized bursts.

And even then… who could say if Godzilla wouldn't just break free anyway?

Clearly, Gatron was far from that level.
