Chapter 99 - Chapter 99:

Chapter 99:

There was a Webway Gate on Cadia, and Godzilla had already made his way toward it, brushing past the Titan phalanx of Chaos on his path.

The Chaos Titans panicked. They immediately shifted direction, retreating before they were wiped out completely.

It wasn't cowardice—it was survival. If Godzilla smashed through them, they'd be gone for good.

The destruction of the Void Shield Engine bought Cadia a small chance. With the shield generator gone, Chaos couldn't press the assault as easily, and the defenders had a moment to breathe.

But the Tech-Priests of the Mechanicus just stood frozen before the wreckage.

"It can't be repaired in less than a year."

The damage was catastrophic. With Imperial technology as it was, only a fool would believe such a machine could be restored quickly.

Above, the Planet Killer in low orbit was recharging. A weapon platform of such scale took time to charge its main cannon—hours at the most—but still faster than the Mechanicus could patch up their shield engine.

In the original timeline, it was Trazyn the Infinite who intervened to fix the situation. But now that Godzilla had stepped into this war, the outcome was already diverging.

No matter what happened, his goal was clear: Godzilla was going to claim the Blackstone Fortress.

Meanwhile, in the shattered void above Cadia, where the Imperial Navy had all but collapsed, a new rent in the Warp appeared.

The Chaos fleet assumed it was their reinforcements. After all, Cadia's void fleet was in ruins—any Imperial arrivals would be slaughtered in moments.

But no.

It wasn't Chaos.

It was the Phalanx.

Readers who knew what that meant already understood—things were about to escalate into a battle of giants.

The soldiers on Cadia could only cheer.

The Phalanx emerged from the Warp like a continent of steel. This immense star-fort, this fortress-ship, was so vast that Imperial battleships looked small beside it. It was the size of a small moon, bristling with weapon batteries.

"The Phalanx?!"

Abaddon recognized it instantly. The Phalanx had been a terror since the days of the Great Crusade.

The Shield of Terra. The Iron Fist of the Emperor. Home of the Imperial Fists Chapter.

Its defenses and firepower were second to none. Even the Blackstone Fortress would hesitate to challenge it.

"Damn it," Abaddon spat, rising from his throne. "Now this is a problem."

He cursed again, remembering the "ally" he had trusted. "I should never have relied on that so-called Chosen of the Gods. He couldn't even deal with a Mountain Formation ship, let alone this!"

Without delay, the Phalanx unleashed its full wrath.

Row upon row of fortress-guns, macro batteries, and lance turrets thundered to life. There were too many weapons to count. The entire void lit up as the Phalanx turned its firepower toward the recharging Planet Killer.

Inside, the Imperial Fists prepared for boarding actions, ready to clash with the Chaos warbands and traitor marines infesting the void.

But Cadia's fate was far from decided.

At the Blackstone Fortress, the Webway Gate flared with light. The Chaos cultists stationed there froze, confused.

"Why is it opening?"

"Not the Dark Kin again, is it?"

Where there were gates, there could be Dark Eldar, and the Blackstone was no exception. Chaos troops raised their weapons, ready to repel whatever came through.

But this time it wasn't the Dark Eldar.

A massive claw pushed through the gate.

The floor shook as Godzilla stepped onto the hangar deck of the Blackstone Fortress. Chaos cultists stumbled back in terror.

"Him again?!!"

A mohawked cultist screamed and fled outright. This was his third time seeing the beast.

"Why?! Why do I keep running into him?! Damn you, Godzilla!!"

Others weren't so dramatic, but their hands shook so badly they nearly dropped their weapons.

Godzilla hauled himself fully inside. He didn't strike right away—he looked around first, gauging the battlefield.

The place was so massive that fighting inside was no different than fighting on a planet's surface.

It's enormous, he thought.

I want this Blackstone Fortress.

That thought had the feel of a player about to seize a game piece.

And as if in answer to his ambition, reinforcements came flooding through the gate.

A squad of Eldar guardians and rangers appeared first—every one of them male, twisted and brainwashed by Isis. (She always kept the women for herself. The men? Disposable.)

Behind them thundered the reptilian host—lizardmen and their colossal beasts, smashing through Chaos lines like a tide of flesh and scale.

The clash was immediate: daemon legions of the Four Gods against primitive, savage lizardbeasts. Blood and ichor mingled. For a moment, it was hard to tell which side was the daemon and which was the monster.

Isis herself stepped through, her psychic power no longer restrained by the Blackstone arrays. She casually crushed a screeching blue Horror with her hand and glanced up at Godzilla.

Godzilla answered her with a roar that shook the decks.

Abaddon's head pounded.

"Another one?!"

Even for him, this was too much. Godzilla alone was bad enough—but now reinforcements?

The only weapons that could slow him were Emperor-class Titans. And Godzilla had just destroyed one. How many did he think Abaddon had left?

"He's not leaving me a way to survive!!!" Abaddon snarled.

"Warmaster," an adjutant ventured, "perhaps we can lure Godzilla toward the Spawn-Beast. If they fight, maybe they'll kill each other."

It was true: the Spawn-Beast had been grown from Godzilla's own cells. There was every chance the two would clash on sight.

But Abaddon shook his head.

"And what if they don't? What if they join forces instead?"

He dismissed the plan immediately.

"Summon the daemons of the Four!" Abaddon bellowed, raising his Talon. He pointed toward the Blackstone Fortress. "If the Dark Gods want Cadia, then let them pay the price. Send more Greater Daemons—or Cadia will remain standing!"

The Four Gods answered.

All across the fortress, daemon portals split open. From eight corners, armies of daemons spilled forth—Horrors, Princes, and abominations without number.

The Blackstone Fortress had become the bloodiest battlefield in the war, rivaled only by Cadia itself.
