Chapter 19 - Plotting

For a moment, a dangerous gleam flashed in Caleb's eyes.

How could he forget?

The man who had sold off his hard work like it was nothing.

It had to be fate that I got to meet him first... And he'll be the first person I kill.

Caleb's eyes glinted with malicious intent.

He couldn't regard Nathan in this case at all—not only was he an asshole in his previous life, but he was also one here.

Caleb could feel every fibre of his body craving that sweet revenge.

"Do you know him?" Naya asked after the long silence from Caleb.

"No, he just looks familiar," Caleb replied with a warm smile as he picked up the document to go through it.

As for the former part... Caleb already knew most of it.

It was completely the same sequence as my timeline... Not much difference, at least until he got the card, Caleb analyzed, going through the document with an intense gaze.

Even Naya was shocked by the seriousness he showed.

Now, it was on a more personal note.

In this world, he is a model... Not just any model but a really big one, had a lot of partners... And was the front page of XL Wealth Magazine.

His profile was much higher than Naya's.

Which raised the question:

"Aren't the two cards meant to have the same effect? Why does it seem like his was stronger than yours?"

"Well, that is because it is... The cards aren't exactly the same. Each card has its own tier, and that can also determine the types of abominations one would face in the dream."

Caleb gave a slow nod. "Makes sense…"

He closed the document, looking at the name on the file one more time before turning his head back to her.

"So how do you want to make him come?" Naya asked, her gaze fixed on Caleb.

She had suddenly grown confident in his abilities.

His confidence rubbing off on her.

"It won't be simple... He doesn't look like someone who would be stupid enough to fall for just any trick."

Caleb knew Nathan quite well... At least the Nathan from his world.

He was a careful and refined analyst, always finding weaknesses among his competitors and using them to ruthlessly drag them down.

That was what made him excel in his business empire.

He would do whatever it took, as long as his end profits justified the loss.

He has surely seen Naya's fears... He's using them to push her to the edge, Caleb thought, rubbing his beardless chin.

"To get him hands down, we have to make him think he's won. If he was able to track you yesterday, that definitely means he has his eyes on you... Looking for any slight opportunity to come in and claim your life."

Naya shivered slightly.

Caleb was right. She had failed to notice!

To be able to cut her off on the road, when she was coming back from the party...

He definitely knew she was there...

...Does that mean he should be somewhere around here as well? She looked towards the window warily.

"No, he won't be here... He'll probably need some time to re-strategize after his first attack," Caleb said, as though reading the fear on her face.

"He'll definitely want the next time to be a direct kill, so he'll take his time on that... And we should be prepared as well."

Caleb looked at the folder again.

A smile formed on his face.

"We'll be giving him the opportunity he's looking for... And we'll do it in a classic way."

"What do you mean by that?" Naya raised her brows in curiosity.

If there was one thing Caleb learned from Kevin... It had to be the fact that money was the greatest form of strength.

And looking at the last notification that popped up on his phone, Caleb's smile widened.

Naya's curiosity deepened, her mind racing with possibilities. What was going on in Caleb's head?

Caleb's eyes twinkled as he leaned slightly forward. "If you don't mind, I'd love to have a date with you."

Naya's eyes widened... Her cheeks flushed red.

"Y-you idiot! What do you mean by that?"

She stuttered, thrown off by the strange flutter in her chest.

"How can you be talking about a date now? How does that have anything to do with this?!" Naya was flustered,

Stunned by Caleb's shamelessness.

She didn't refute outrightly or attack like she usually would.

Rather, inwardly, she was actually wishing it could happen.

Caleb let out a soft chuckle, the weight in the room momentarily easing.

"Of course it has something to do with the current situation. If not, why else would I bring it up?" Caleb asked with a mischievous smile.

"Then what is that?" she asked, this time anger flashing in her eyes.

Does he think this is all a joke?

Caleb ignored the angry look on her face as he continued.

"He is still planning his next move, but let's present him with an opportunity... It won't be bad if the famous supermodel decides to go on a date with the son of Jin Monrrow."

Naya looked at him with an annoyed gaze, still not getting his point.

"If we go on a date together, it'll definitely draw the attention of everyone... Including Nathan. Presenting him with the perfect opportunity for his next attack."

Naya's eyes brightened with realization.

"Exactly! He won't let a chance like that slip by." "Which is exactly why we make it irresistible... a trap dressed as opportunity."

The plan seemed flawless, almost as though there was no way he would be able to tell it was a trap.

But then... There was still one problem.

"Group X can reframe everything in public, but even then... Nathan definitely won't want to kill me in the open," Naya said.

"Well, that's where I come in... Buying the entire hotel space for a day doesn't sound like a bad idea if I'm with the right woman."
