Chapter 278 - Iron Man: I’ll Take Hela Down by Myself!

In the vastness of outer space.

Inside a spacecraft drifting beyond the already-ruined Ego Planet—

Whoosh!

Tony Stark, Thor, Captain America, and the others felt their vision blur for an instant. When their senses stabilized, they realized they were back inside their original ship.

"An improper place?"

Star-Lord's voice rang out first, reaching Tony and the others. "Natasha, trust me—what a truly improper place looks like is something you don't even know."

"Star-Lord, we're heading back to Earth immediately." Captain America spoke with a solemn expression, cutting off Star-Lord's enthusiasm.

"Rogers, are you even a man?" Star-Lord protested, clearly unhappy. "This is a rare opportunity! Don't ruin everyone's fun!"

"We just went through another round of questions."

That single sentence from Captain America instantly left Star-Lord speechless.

His expression turned serious at once.

"Okay, buddy. Then I'll take you all out to have some fun next time." Star-Lord didn't waste any more words and quickly began piloting the ship toward Earth.

After another series of nausea-inducing jumps, the group finally returned to Earth.

"Sir, someone named T'Challa left you a message," JARVIS immediately reported to Tony Stark. "He said he's ready, and that you would understand what he means."

It had to be said—T'Challa's reach was no joke. How long had it been since the quiz ended and they returned to Earth? And Wakanda had already managed to contact JARVIS.

That wasn't something an ordinary person could pull off.

"Send the exact location of the Answerers Alliance base to T'Challa. Tell him to keep a low profile," Tony instructed casually.

"Understood, sir," JARVIS replied.

As for Tony himself, he didn't linger. Along with the others, he headed straight for the Answerers Alliance base.

When Nick Fury heard that Tony and the others had gone through yet another round of questions, he didn't dare delay for even a second.

He immediately dropped everything he was doing and joined everyone in the conference room for a meeting.

T'Challa and Strange were still on their way. Scott Lang was who-knows-where and couldn't be contacted for the time being. Rather than wait, everyone began sharing intelligence from the latest round of questions.

As the quizzes continued, the amount of brand-new information they gained was steadily decreasing.

Aside from some "exclusive" intel related to Scott Lang and T'Challa, most of the information from this round served as supplements to what they already knew.

For example—more detailed specifics about the battle with Thanos, the exact process of Hela's invasion of Asgard, and further information regarding time travel.

As the intelligence was shared, the puzzle pieces gradually came together into a clearer picture.

"Oh, right."

After everyone finished discussing the quiz-related intel, Nick Fury shared another piece of information—one that surprised everyone present.

"Half an hour ago, I confirmed something," Fury said, looking around the room. "The Scarlet Witch—no, Wanda Maximoff—has regained her magical abilities."

Everyone wore expressions of shock.

After all, in this timeline, Wanda had never undergone HYDRA's human experimentation.

Logically speaking, she should've stayed far away from all this chaos, grown up as an ordinary person, and lived a normal life.

So how did she end up with magic again?

"Nick Fury," Captain America narrowed his eyes, clearly thinking of something. "What did you do this time?"

In his mind, this was the only possibility.

That old fox Fury must've copied Baron Strucker's experiments!

"I didn't do anything!" Fury protested indignantly. "And you too—what are those looks supposed to mean?"

Why was everyone's first reaction to suspect him?

Did the Bald Eagle really have that bad a reputation?

"Nick Fury, is this true?" Tony followed up immediately. "You didn't secretly run some kind of magical activation experiment on those two kids?"

"No!" Fury shook his head emphatically. "Absolutely not! I understand why you'd suspect me, but if I had done something like that, I wouldn't deny it! This time, you've got it wrong—I did nothing!"

"Come on, those are just kids. I'm not HYDRA, okay?"

After Fury's solemn explanation, everyone finally eased up a bit.

"So… Wanda awakened her magic naturally, without any external interference?" Black Widow asked, her voice tinged with surprise.

"That's what it looks like for now," Fury nodded. "That child is extraordinarily gifted. She's not ordinary."

"What about her brother?" Banner asked.

"Her brother's completely normal. Only her," Fury replied.

After a brief discussion about how to handle Wanda Maximoff, everyone quickly reached a consensus: observe her in secret and do nothing for now.

No matter what, she was still just a child.

No one wanted to drag a kid like that into all this madness.

"Everyone."

Once Wanda's situation was temporarily settled, Captain America spoke again, his expression serious. "According to the quiz system, Asgard will be destroyed by Hela in a few years. I think we should focus on that next."

Only after Asgard's destruction would Thanos move to seize the Tesseract—his second Infinity Stone.

So clearly, Asgard was the more urgent issue.

Moreover, if Asgard wasn't destroyed, then relying on its formidable defenses, even Thanos wouldn't find it easy to take the Tesseract.

After all, Asgard was a divine realm—one of the most powerful planets in the entire universe.

Even if Odin were to die by then, a starved camel was still bigger than a horse.

Everyone exchanged glances. No one raised any objections.

At this point, due to the quiz system and their shared enemy, Thanos, Earth and Asgard were already tightly bound together.

Strategically speaking, Earth couldn't afford to ignore Asgard's impending catastrophe.

Killing Hela wasn't up for debate.

The real question was how to kill her.

"First point," Tony Stark spoke up naturally. "We absolutely cannot let Hela return to Asgard. Her power there is infinite."

"Agreed," Captain America nodded heavily. "We must ensure the battlefield is outside Asgard."

"Okay," Black Widow swept her gaze across the room. "Let's assume we fight Hela on another planet. What then?"

"According to the intel, Hela can fire blades endlessly. Her physical body can withstand Thor's strongest lightning without a scratch."

"She can even regenerate instantly after being impaled."

"In short, Hela has terrifying offensive power, terrifying durability, and terrifying regeneration."

"As discouraging as this sounds, I don't see great odds with just us."

Hela had effortlessly crushed Thor at his peak.

Even if that was due to Asgard's power boost, it still said a lot.

Outside Asgard?

She could still crush Mjolnir with her bare hands.

Facing a monster like that, confidence was hard to come by.

Looking at the roster, only Thor and Hulk could truly contribute on that battlefield.

Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye—they'd be practically irrelevant.

As for Tony Stark, unless he had his future nanotech armor, his current suits wouldn't make much difference either.

"Vision."

Banner suddenly raised a very constructive point. His eyes lit up as he spoke. "If we include Vision, our chances increase significantly."

Everyone's eyes brightened.

Vision had a full vibranium body and wielded the Mind Stone. In terms of raw power, he was no weaker than Thor or Hulk.

With someone like that joining the fight, their odds improved dramatically.

"No need for all that trouble," Tony Stark said casually. "I can take Hela down by myself."

The room froze.

"Stark, we're talking about someone who crushed Thor's hammer with her bare hands," Star-Lord said, speechless.

This guy's ego was truly incurable.

"Stark, let's stick to something realistic," Hawkeye added.

"You think I'm bluffing?" Tony shrugged and stood up. "Your thinking is too limited. You're all obsessing over how strong Hela is, how to fight her head-on."

"You're focused—but on the wrong thing."

"You haven't figured out the real priority. Want me to spell it out for you?"

"Stark, stop teasing and get to the point," Nick Fury urged.

"I'm not teasing," Tony replied smugly. "I'm enlightening you—teaching you how to think scientifically."

"Our objective is to kill Hela, right? But you're all talking about fighting her directly."

"Killing Hela doesn't require direct combat."

"You're losing me," Star-Lord frowned. "Aren't those the same thing?"

"With your IQ? Sure," Tony sighed. "But they're not."

"Did killing Ego teach us nothing?"

"What does Ego have to do with this?" Star-Lord asked.

"Stark… you mean we can kill Hela the same way we killed Ego?" Fury suddenly realized, his single eye gleaming.

"Finally, someone who understands English," Tony said proudly. "Exactly."

"We plant enough explosives on a planet, lure Hela there, detonate them—and done."

Silence fell over the conference room.

Everyone was stunned.

Because the plan was completely viable.

In fact, it was the safest, simplest, and most effective way to deal with Hela.

"Brilliant, Stark!" Thor burst out laughing, giving Tony a thumbs-up. "That settles it—Hela's dead!"

"I think Stark's plan is workable," Banner agreed. "No matter how strong Hela is, she can't survive a nuclear-level explosion, right?"

"I can handle picking the planet," Star-Lord jumped in. "I know plenty of uninhabited worlds that are perfect for this."

One by one, everyone joined the discussion. The atmosphere grew lighter and more optimistic.

The plan to deal with Hela was set.

They went on to discuss the finer details.

First—the bombs. To ensure Hela's death, they unanimously agreed on using nuclear weapons. Some even suggested multiple nukes.

Second—backup plans. Just in case.

Thor, Hulk, Vision—all would be on standby, ready to engage if, by some miracle, Hela survived the blast.

Even though almost no one believed she could.

But preparation was still necessary.

More than two hours later, the initial plan against Hela was finalized.

The members of the Answerers Alliance left the base one after another to carry out their respective preparations.

Thor would return to Asgard to persuade Odin and arrange for Hela's release on a suitable planet.

Star-Lord would scout the target planet.

Nick Fury would leverage his connections to secure nuclear warheads.

Tony Stark, Captain America, Banner, and the others all had their own tasks to handle.

Thanks to "How to Pick a Username" for the reward.
