Chapter 215 - Ridiculous, Star-Lord is Actually a God?

"A god's body, but comparable to a mortal?"

Star-Lord stared at the question on the big screen, exclaiming in surprise, "Did this question get messed up, written backward? Shouldn't it be a mortal body, comparable to a god?"

Not just Star-Lord, everyone else present also thought the question seemed strange.

A god's body, but comparable to a mortal? Was the system definitely not joking with them?

Looking at the literal meaning of this sentence, it was saying there was someone who was clearly a god, but was as useless as a mortal. What kind of god would be so useless?

"I know this question might seem a little strange, and different from the questions we've encountered before."

Captain America spoke up, his face serious as he said to everyone, "But the question system's questions won't make mistakes. What it says is what it is. Let's carefully analyze this question."

"Captain's right. Just like some mortals can reach a godly level through their own abilities, then some gods, being useless as mortals through their own strength, is also reasonable, right?"

Black Widow nodded in agreement. "Whether human or god, everyone has different aptitudes. There are geniuses, and there are those with average talent, right?"

"That's true, but I really can't imagine a god being this useless," Thor shook his head repeatedly, unable to comprehend it.

Even if they were useless, they were still a god!

How could they end up like a mortal?

Wouldn't that be a disgrace to the gods?

No matter which divine race it was, if a god like that appeared, wouldn't they be kicked out of the race immediately?

They couldn't afford to lose face like that.

"'With the body of a god' comparable to a mortal, so the person in the options must first be a god."

Captain America's voice continued, as he began his analysis. "Thor and Loki are both gods, that's without question. So, what about the other two options, Star-Lord?"

At this, Captain America unconsciously turned his gaze to Star-Lord, unable to help but size him up.

A god?

This guy?

If this guy was also a god, then everyone in the world would probably be a god, wouldn't they?

That was Captain America's immediate, instinctive thought. There was just no way to look at Star-Lord and think "god."

Even associating him with the word "god" felt wrong.

Not only Captain America, but everyone else present instinctively turned their gazes towards Star-Lord, scrutinizing him, trying to see if there was any chance he could be a god.

But no matter how they looked at him, it seemed impossible.

They even felt it was absurd to suspect it.

Gods, were they really that cheap?

"What's with those looks?" Star-Lord felt offended. "You don't believe... I could be a god?"

"God?" Thor shook his head repeatedly, as if Star-Lord being a god was an insult to him, a god himself. "Gods can't have this much blubber! Just from your appearance, you don't look like a god."

"Thor, commenting on someone's appearance is shallow!" Star-Lord immediately looked displeased. "And what do you mean, 'fat'? I'm all muscle, alright? Bigger muscles than you!"

"Star-Lord, that's just flab."

Doctor Strange mercilessly exposed Star-Lord's facade. "I'm a doctor, and I can tell you with certainty, that's flab! Thor is muscle. You… do have a bit of a spare tire."

"You hear that? That's an authoritative judgment from a healer." Thor grinned smugly.

"Alright… I am a little out of shape right now." Star-Lord was still unconvinced. "But can you stay in shape forever? Maybe one day you'll be a two-hundred-pound fatso!"

"Impossible!" Thor laughed at this. "That will never happen!"

"Star-Lord." Black Widow's voice cut through the air, and she stared at Star-Lord, asking seriously, "Where are you from? Are you from Earth? Because you look completely human, and that thing on your waist… that's an old-fashioned cassette player, something from Earth."

Hearing Black Widow's words, everyone else noticed that hidden inside Star-Lord's jacket was one of those very old-fashioned devices, a cassette player, a childhood memory for many, a relic of the last century.

"This is something I loved listening to when I was a kid. It's got all the classics," Star-Lord said, showing off his Walkman.

"You listened to this stuff as a kid?" Tony Stark glanced at Star-Lord, and his doubts vanished. "Then you really are from Earth."

"What? No, I'm not from Earth! I'm from Missouri!" Star-Lord immediately shook his head in denial.

"Idiot, that's on Earth!" Tony Stark said, looking exasperated.

Then he glanced at everyone present and said, "Star-Lord is an Earthling, so the answer can't be him."

"Wait a minute, Stark."

Captain America immediately raised a serious question. "Star-Lord held the Power Stone with his bare hands and withstood its energy. That's something no Earthling could possibly do."

The scene fell into a slight silence. Captain America had hit the nail on the head. An Earthling absolutely could not have done that.

Just based on that, it was certain that Star-Lord was definitely not from Earth.

But he had just said that he was from Missouri!

"So, Star-Lord is an alien who was born on Earth, grew up on Earth, and also has the face of an Earthling?" Black Widow summed up Star-Lord's situation, and a sense of mystery immediately emerged.

"Star-Lord, who were your parents?" Tony Stark asked seriously after a moment of silence.

"My mother, the most beautiful and prettiest woman in the world. Unfortunately, she passed away when I was very young. Then I was kidnapped by Yondu and taken to another planet."

Star-Lord began to briefly introduce his mother to everyone.

Everyone understood. Passed away from illness; this was clearly an ordinary Earthling.

"And your father?" Doctor Strange couldn't help but ask curiously from the side.

"As for my father... I have absolutely no memory of him. When I was a kid, I used to watch other children playing catch with their fathers and get really envious. So, I told everyone that David Hasselhoff was my father."

Star-Lord hesitated, seemingly reluctant to bring up the subject, but after a moment's thought, he told everyone.

"David Hasselhoff? The guy from Knight Rider... that big star from last century?" Tony Stark couldn't help but shake his head and click his tongue. "You really do have a way with words."

"Star-Lord's father!" Thor clapped his hand. "Then it's possible it is Star-Lord's father! Star-Lord's mother was an ordinary Earthling, right? But he doesn't know who his father is! Star-Lord's ability to withstand the power of the Infinity Stones may come from his father!"

Everyone agreed with Thor's guess. It was a logical conclusion.

"If that's the case, then Star-Lord's father might be a god, so Star-Lord might also be... a god?" Captain America glanced at everyone and made a summary.

"I can't say for sure whether Star-Lord is a god, but mortals definitely can't withstand the energy of the Infinity Stones, so... let's temporarily treat Star-Lord as a god too." Black Widow pondered slightly, then said to everyone.

No one raised any objections, and Star-Lord ultimately became one of the "candidates" and wasn't excluded.

"Ronan?"

Finally, everyone's gaze landed on the last option. "Although we don't know much about him, his abilities are such that he could be called a god."

"So the initial screening conclusion is that all four options are gods, and we can't filter them. We need to narrow it down further."

Doctor Strange shrugged and was the first to offer his opinion. "I don't know about the others, but I think Ronan can be ruled out. He doesn't seem like a mortal."

"Ronan can indeed be ruled out. Besides, I think Loki can be ruled out as well."

Tony Stark chimed in, "Although Loki was defeated by the superheroes, he doesn't seem like a mortal either."

"We can't just consider him a mortal because he failed, right?"

"Stark, why did you rule out Loki first, but not me?" Thor asked curiously. "I'm much stronger than Loki, aren't I?"

"Generally speaking, that's true," Tony Stark said, looking serious, addressing Thor. "But Thor, don't forget when Odin banished you."

"At that time, you were treated like a mental patient and locked up in a hospital."

Recalling this dark chapter, Thor couldn't help but want to cover his face. "Stark, can we not bring this up?"

"No, Thor, I have to," Tony Stark insisted. "It's relevant to this question."

"With a god's body, comparable to a mortal, you absolutely fit that description back then."

"Thor, Stark is right," Captain America said, also looking serious. "You did indeed fit the description in the question back then."

The Thor back then could actually be locked up in a mental hospital, showing how weak he had become.

Moreover, except for a few question answerers who knew about Thor in advance through the answering system, everyone else regarded Thor as a mortal.

This wasn't just comparable to a mortal; he was simply a mortal!

There was no option that more closely matched the description in the question.

"Wow, that sounds like a really interesting story," Star-Lord's eyes lit up immediately, and he couldn't help but ask, "What exactly happened?"

Star-Lord had long been annoyed by Thor constantly showing off in front of him. Of course, he wouldn't admit that it was actually jealousy of Thor's perfect physique.

Now that he saw Thor getting the short end of the stick, Star-Lord felt incredibly refreshed.

"Nothing worth mentioning. I lost my godly powers for some reason and was misunderstood by some people on Earth, that's all."

Thor simply summarized his awkward experience at the time in a single sentence.

Although it was a bit vague, that was enough.

"In other words, Thor's state at the time indeed matched the description in the question," Doctor Strange nodded and keenly grasped the key point. "But that state was only temporary, right?"

"Yes, temporary!" Thor slapped his thigh, and Doctor Strange looked extremely pleasing to the eye. He nodded repeatedly, "Only for a very short time. Later, I regained my godly powers. No, later I became even more powerful than before."

"Even if it was just a short time, it did happen, right?" Star-Lord chimed in. "Guys, the answer to this question is Thor. No question about it, right?"

Everyone was still a bit hesitant about that.

On the one hand, Thor completely fit the description at the time. The person described in the question was, without a doubt, Thor. The answer was indeed Thor.

But on the other hand, now that they knew how powerful Thor was, applying that description to him felt...off.

It was definitely a gross misrepresentation of Thor.

"Guys, how could you possibly pick me for this question?"

Seeing that everyone was seriously considering that option, Thor was extremely displeased. He immediately exclaimed, "This question obviously calls for Star-Lord!"

"Look at him, does he look like a god?"

Whoosh!

Following Thor's words, everyone turned their gazes toward Star-Lord. They agreed with Thor's logic.

Star-Lord, no matter how you looked at him, was just a mortal, without a single divine aspect.

Of course, this wasn't just a preconceived notion about Star-Lord. They had seen his abilities in the images that documented the saving of the galaxy.

To be honest, while he wasn't weak, he wasn't particularly strong either.

He completely lacked the kind of overwhelming power that a god should possess.

"I have to say, Thor makes a valid point," Doctor Strange nodded in agreement. "So the answer to this question is either Thor or Star-Lord."

Thor and Star-Lord were the two strongest candidates.

Loki and Ronan were eliminated without any discussion.

"Even if I don't seem like a god, I'm still more god-like than you, right? Didn't Stark say they thought you were crazy back then?"

"Crazy? You look like a lowlife!"

Thor and Star-Lord started bickering in front of everyone, leaving the others speechless.

"I'm done with this pointless arguing. I'll prove it to you!"

Finally unable to take it anymore, Thor made a decision. "I'll answer this question. I choose C, Star-Lord!"

Thor directly gave his answer on the big screen.

"Dude, your answer is definitely wrong." Star-Lord shook his head confidently.

But then…

Correct answer!
