The group quickly spurred into action as they left the office.
President Momo ordered some guards to prepare limousines for travel quickly, as well as security escorts. President Momo told Serena to take care of the people at the University while she was gone. They had no idea how long they would be away from the campus, so it was safe to leave somebody trusted to manage it.
Riku, Shin, and everybody else made their way outside the front doors of the University.
They then quickly got into their limousines, and the guards in their armored cars followed suit.
The sleek black limousines glided through the quiet streets of Tokyo, their tinted windows shielding the occupants from the curious gazes of pedestrians. Inside, Shin sat beside Doctor Yuna, her presence a comforting anchor amidst the uncertainty. Across from them, Riku conversed quietly with Misaki, their expressions mirroring the tension that hung in the air.
The convoy pulled up to the imposing structure of the Japanese UW Branch Hospital, its modern facade gleaming under the morning sun. Uniformed guards awaited their arrival, their stances rigid and alert.
As the group disembarked, the guards formed a protective perimeter, escorting them swiftly through the hospital's clean corridors.
The familiar scent of antiseptic filled Shin's nostrils, triggering memories of his previous stay. In a way, it was comforting. He didn't remember too much of his life before he was awakened, except the good parts. It just felt like this place was his new birthplace.
The sterile white walls, the soft hum of machinery, and the distant murmur of medical staff were all unchanged. He recognized the hallway leading to the room where he had first awakened, a stark reminder of the journey that had brought him here.
He smirked as he remembered how passionately he fucked Yuna, Rei, and Misaki.
They were led to the Director's office, a spacious, familiar room adorned with minimalist decor. Director Sayuri stood as they entered, her sharp gaze assessing each of them. She gestured for them to sit, her demeanor as composed as ever. She nodded as she met Shin's gaze.
"Thank you for coming on such short notice," she began, her voice steady. "We've been investigating the MKS Organization further. Our findings suggest a vague link between MKS and the World Headquarters. While the evidence is not conclusive, it's enough to raise concerns."
A hush fell over the room as the weight of her words settled in.
Doctor Yuna spoke up. "What does that mean then for us?"
"Given the failed assassination attempt, it's plausible they might strike again. To ensure your safety, I recommend both of you remain here at the Japanese UW Branch for the next couple of days. During this time, you'll undergo training in various firearms and self-defense techniques. Your assistants are welcome to stay with you at the hospital," the Director replied back with a slightly cold, nervous tone.
Shin and Riku exchanged knowing glances, nodding in agreement.
The Director would know better than they would on the right thing to do in this situation.
"We'll make the necessary arrangements," Director Sayuri concluded. She seemed relieved, which gave Shin the impression she was nervous if they had declined the idea. Was the Director herself afraid of us? Shin thought to himself.
The group was then escorted to their respective quarters where they would rest.
As Shin walked through the corridors, memories flooded back. Each room, each hallway a testament to his past experiences. He paused briefly outside the room where he had once awakened, the door now closed. His cryo-pod still was there, lying open as if stuck in time.
He sighed and continued on his way.
Shin thought about what life would be like if he was still in that cryo-pod. Only for a moment.
He entered his assigned room. Shin found it modest yet comfortable. A single bed, a desk with a reading lamp, and a small bookshelf lined with various titles. He selected a book and settled into the chair, immersing himself in its pages. As the day progressed, the words blurred together, his mind started drifting.
Night fell, casting long shadows across the room from his window.
He reached to the side of his nightstand and turned on a lamp light.
Shin set the book aside and prepared for bed.
He went into the bathroom and started brushing his teeth. He reflected on everything that has happened so far as he looked at himself in the mirror. Good looks and a confident personality aren't enough to get him through all of these problems. He has to think of more ways to grow so he can obtain the power necessary to protect everyone.
He tightened his fist around his toothbrush as he remembered the lead vehicle exploding in the air with the encounter from the MKS Organization. He knew it wasn't his fault, but in some way, it still felt like it. Damn it, he thought to himself as he finished brushing his teeth and flopped himself onto the bed.
The events of the day weighed heavily on him, but exhaustion soon took over.
Any more reflection could happen tomorrow. For now, he needed to rest. After all, he had some pretty intense training coming up tomorrow. He wasn't going to let him being tired and his negative thoughts get in the way of it. Tomorrow he would improve his skills.
He turned off the lamp light.
As he laid down back in bed, the soft hum of the hospital enveloped him, lulling him into a deep sleep. The last thought on his mind was wondering how much sleep he would be allowed to have before starting training.
He will for sure need it.
