Hokage Building, Conference Room.
Hyūga Hiashi pushed open the door to find the room already more than half full.
Familiar faces filled the seats—most of them jonin, given the nature of today's meeting.
A jonin assembly was only convened for matters of utmost importance.
The reason was simple:
Jonin were busy. Many were out on missions.
Convening them required days of advance notice.
Even then, absences were inevitable—jonin-level missions were A-rank at minimum, often taking months to complete.
Hiashi scanned the room before locking eyes with Hyūga Hizashi.
As the Hokage's secretary, Hizashi's seat was in the second row—a clear step up from his previous standing.
But Hiashi, as the Hyūga clan head, sat in the front row.
A few others already occupied the first row:
Among them was the newly appointed Konoha Military Police Chief, Mitarashi Genma.
When Tsunade had dug him up from obscurity, it had shocked many.
Yet no one could deny it was a masterstroke.
The most immediate result? The Military Police's authority had fully returned to Konoha's hands.
Besides Genma, the four Hokage Guards were also present:
Hatake Kakashi, Might Guy, Yūhi Kurenai, and Shizune.
Normally, they wouldn't qualify for these seats.
But becoming a Hokage Guard carried symbolic weight—it marked them as potential future Hokage candidates.
And then there was Omoi.
Hiashi's gaze lingered on him, seated dead center—a spot that defied convention.
That was Shimura Danzō's old seat.
A suspicion flickered in Hiashi's mind, though it seemed improbable.
Omoi's too young.
Had he revealed his full strength, perhaps. But as things stood…
Hiashi took his seat in silence.
If Omoi became Hokage Advisor, he'd effectively stand second only to Tsunade—wielding power surpassed only by the Hokage herself.
Perhaps it's time to seriously consider him and Hinata.
Hiashi was no fool. He knew what was best for the Hyūga clan.
"Clan Head."
Hizashi greeted him respectfully.
"Hn."
Hiashi responded coolly. "You've done well lately. Keep it up. Becoming a Hokage Consultant would be your greatest contribution."
Hizashi sighed inwardly but nodded.
When will the Branch Family ever rise above this?
Nearby, Kakashi noticed Sarutobi Asuma.
He recalled the favor Asuma had asked of him recently.
Troublesome.
"Kurenai, haven't seen you with Asuma lately. Something wrong?"
Kakashi chose his words carefully.
Asuma was his former classmate—he couldn't refuse the request.
"No."
Kurenai shook her head. "I just feel we're… not quite compatible."
"Compatible?"
Kakashi blinked. "Mind elaborating?"
"The files from the other day."
Kurenai's tone was clipped.
Realization dawned on Kakashi.
Ah.
The thorough investigation into Danzō had unearthed many buried secrets—including Hiruzen's and Orochimaru's involvement.
Tsunade had hesitated to act, wary of destabilizing Konoha and out of lingering sentiment.
But for those like Kakashi and Kurenai, who'd once admired Hiruzen, the revelations were a bitter pill.
It was like watching an idol crumble—only to find they'd been a fraud all along.
Now, Kurenai couldn't help but view Asuma—Hiruzen's son—with skepticism.
Even if Asuma himself was clean, could she really marry into that family? Face Hiruzen daily?
She didn't think she could.
Fortunately, their relationship was still new. Cutting ties now would be cleaner.
[Due to your actions, the fates of Sarutobi Asuma, Yūhi Kurenai, and Sarutobi Mirai have shifted. You have earned 150 Fate Points.]
Omoi, who'd been zoning out, nearly choked.
What the—?
Did I just accidentally break up Asuma and Kurenai?
He felt genuinely wronged.
He'd done nothing!
Sure, Kurenai was the Hokage's secretary, but he hadn't so much as flirted with her.
Still, free Fate Points were free Fate Points.
Omoi wasn't Cupid. Others' love lives weren't his concern.
(Though if it were Naruto, he might've helped—out of pity.)
His philosophy was simple: Do as you please.
Before long, Tsunade arrived, and the meeting began.
"First order of business: Root."
No preamble. Straight to the point.
At the mention of Root, several faces darkened—especially Aburame Shibi's.
Root had taken two of the Aburame clan's brightest: Aburame Torune and Aburame Ryōma.
Worse, after joining Root, they'd severed ties with their clan—becoming Danzō's loyal hounds.
"Since Root has been disbanded, there's no need to revive it."
Tsunade's voice was firm. "Former Root members will be reassigned as regular shinobi."
Shibi's grim expression instantly brightened.
This meant Torune and Ryōma would return to the clan.
No more losing their talents to Root.
Others shared his relief—some barely resisting the urge to pledge loyalty on the spot.
"Second: The Konoha Military Police's jurisdiction."
Tsunade raised a second finger.
Under the Uchiha, the Police's authority had been steadily eroded.
Even after its revival, it remained a shadow of its former self—unfair to the clans who'd joined it.
"From now on, the Military Police will handle all village security. ANBU will no longer interfere."
A collective gasp filled the room—enough to contribute to global warming.
On paper, it was a simple reversion to the old ways.
In reality? A massive boon for those present.
Tsunade surveyed the room, a faint smirk playing on her lips.
The first two items were just paving the way for the real announcement.
Not that she was losing out.
While it seemed to favor the clans, the true winner was Konoha itself.
The first decision was self-explanatory.
The second? ANBU had overstepped.
Handing security to the Police freed ANBU to focus on intelligence and the Hokage.
Plus, with Genma at the helm, the Police wouldn't spiral out of control.
"Third: Appointing Omoi as Hokage Advisor."
Tsunade's tone brooked no argument. "His contributions in dismantling Danzō's faction, combined with his strength and lineage as a Senju, make him more than qualified. Any objections?"
Silence.
Many instinctively balked at Omoi's youth and inexperience.
But the smarter ones—like Nara Shikaku—saw the bigger picture.
Tsunade's strategy was clear: Sweeten the deal first, then drop the hammer.
Her stance was unshakable.
"Don't oppose it."
Shikaku murmured to his allies—Akimichi Chōza and Yamanaka Inoichi.
The Nara were the brains of the Ino-Shika-Chō trio. Even if the others didn't understand, they'd follow his lead.
"Just as I thought."
Hiashi's eyes narrowed.
Perhaps he should be the first to voice support.
Uncharacteristic for the Hyūga, but he was the only one who knew Omoi's true strength.
Decision made, he stood.
"I support this."
Ignoring the surprised glances, Hiashi continued, "From what I've heard, Omoi proposed both the Secretary Corps and the Police reforms. Coupled with his abilities, an exception is warranted."
Tsunade gave a measured nod.
(Internally, she was surprised. The Hyūga had been unusually supportive lately.)
Is Omoi already being treated as a son-in-law?
With the Hyūga's endorsement, many dissenters reconsidered.
"I see no issue."
Genma rose next. "This is the younger generation's era. Another Danzō would only harm Konoha. Omoi is among our finest—let him prove himself. It might breathe new life into the village."
Shikaku followed suit—a tacit nod from the Ino-Shika-Chō alliance.
Of course, opposition came from the Sarutobi and Shimura clans.
Tsunade ignored them.
With the majority's approval, Omoi officially became Hokage Advisor—though without Root, his authority paled next to Danzō's.
(Which was precisely why so many had agreed.)
Combined with Tsunade's concessions, opposing would've been ungrateful.
Being Hokage wasn't about strength—it was about politics.
—
Post-Meeting.
As secretary, Hizashi promptly announced the three decisions.
Omoi's appointment stole the spotlight—making him the youngest high-ranking official in Konoha's history.
(Even Minato hadn't achieved this so young.)
Meanwhile, the man himself was escorted by ANBU to a sealed chamber deep within the Hokage Building—home to the Forbidden Scroll.
"Lord Omoi, proceed inside."
The ANBU bowed.
"Thanks."
Omoi entered alone.
The room housed many treasures, but he ignored them.
(Why steal from his own village?)
His focus was the scroll at the center.
Unfurling it, the first technique leaped out:
Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu.
The very technique Naruto had "stolen" under Mizuki's manipulation.
In hindsight, it was clearly Hiruzen's doing.
No way a rookie Naruto could've breached this vault otherwise.
And zero punishment for stealing the Forbidden Scroll?
Anyone with half a brain would've smelled a setup.
(But Naruto wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.)
Omoi already knew this jutsu, so he skimmed ahead.
Four Black Fangs Formation.
Danzō's signature.
Pass. With Uzumaki Ena around, he had no need for sealing arts.
Next: Edo Tensei (original version).
Flawed and limited. Omoi had the improved variant from Orochimaru.
Eight Gates.
Powerful, but grueling to master.
Omoi wasn't that dedicated.
Besides, its potency varied by user.
Might Guy's eighth gate far outclassed Might Dai's.
Dead Demon Consuming Seal.
A suicide technique. Hard pass.
Spirit Transformation Technique.
Now this was interesting.
An S-rank soul jutsu that allowed the user to separate their spirit from their body—attacking enemies from any range, possessing targets, or invading minds.
Soul techniques were as rare as space-time ninjutsu.
Or in simpler terms: Astral projection.
Omoi memorized it. Could come in handy.
Finishing the scroll, he was mildly disappointed.
While it contained several anime-original forbidden jutsu, most were either too costly or too niche.
No hidden gems.
—
Omoi's New Office.
Danzō, as Advisor, had operated solely from Root's base—no dedicated office.
Omoi didn't care either way, but Tsunade insisted on formalities.
His office neighbored the Hokage Guard's.
"Ino? What're you doing here?"
Omoi found her inside, wearing an apron.
"Omoi-kun!"
Ino beamed. "Shizune-nee asked me to clean your office!"
Omoi sighed.
Poor kid. You got scammed.
No doubt Tsunade had delegated the task to Shizune, who'd then pawned it off on Ino.
Grabbing a broom, he joined in. "Let's finish faster."
Ino's eyes sparkled. She treated it as future practice.
"By the way, Ino."
Omoi swept lazily. "Shouldn't you call me 'senpai'?"
"Huh?"
Ino blinked. "D-do you prefer that, Omoi-kun?"
"Not really."
Omoi chuckled. "Just stick with what you're used to. Feels more personal."
"Okay!"
Ino's cheeks pinked.
He said we're close!
