With the Mark 8 Electrolight Hydroelectric Generator fully operational, all Raven needed to do was flip the switch on the circuit breaker box to bring power back online for the entire bunker. Before she does that Raven stood up from the generator and walked over to the circuit breaker box, placing her hand on it firmly.
"Scan," she said out loud, her eyes narrowing with focus.
Alara stood right behind her, watching closely. "What are you doing now?" she asked.
Raven kept her eyes on the circuit breaker box, her voice firm but tinged with a bit of pride. "I'm scanning the entire internal structure of the bunker's electrical network to make sure that everything connected to the generator is functional and safe. If we're going to run this place as an external force to handle tasks for us, it will need to be in perfect condition or even better than when it was first built."
Alara giggled softly, stepping closer as she teased Raven, "Just admit it, Raven… you're creating this entire force, so I have something to do in my spare time. You don't want me wandering into your movie collection or your hidden anime stash. You're giving me a few responsibilities, so I stop asking awkward questions about your hobbies and your embarrassing hidden past."
Raven's face turned red in embarrassment as she stammered, saying, "No way! You're reading way too much into this, Alara. It's not like from the moment I met you, I realized you would become intelligent, and I needed some distraction to stop you from constantly embarrassing me! That would mean I'm some kind of maniacal mastermind with Yandere-level foresight and planning for our future together! How could I possibly plan that far ahead just to keep you from digging into my shameful past?!"
Alara lifted her head, with a mischievous smile on her lips. "Then why is your face turning so red right now?"
Raven's eyes darted away, her jaw tightening with tension she said, "Repair!" Raven began repairs on the bunker's internal electrical system, pouring her internal energy into the wiring as if her life depended on it lord knows her social life does.
Raven kept rambling defensively, her words growing more defensive by the second. "Come on, honey… you're reading way too much into this. I would never assign you administrative responsibility just to keep you from embarrassing me. That's absurd!"
Alara only rolled her eyes playfully and stepped even closer. Raven, now completely absorbed in her work, kept her hand pressed against the circuit breaker box. "Enhance… Fold… Fold…" she said.
Just as she prepared to say it a third time, Alara suddenly leaned forward and kissed her gently on the cheek. Raven jumped up into the air like she was hit by an electric shock, jumping back three feet, her eyes wide with panic.
"What are you doing, Alara?!" Raven shouted, her voice shy and confused.
Alara smiled sweetly, her expression showing mischief in her eyes. "Just giving my cute little girlfriend a kiss on the cheek for being so adorable even when she's trying to manipulate me. I thought you deserved a little reward for your effort."
Realizing she's been caught, Raven's entire body seemed to deflate. She threw her hands up into the air, her face burning in embarrassment about being caught. "Fine I admit it, Alara! You caught me! I've been planning this for days, even weeks, perhaps before you even evolved. I needed a way to distract you from obsessing over my forbidden emo goth past from high school! I should've never shown you those photos on my phone… Now you make me watch anime and those cringe movies with you. It's so embarrassing… I was only seventeen back then, just a young girl in the prime of her youth!"
Alara giggled, her eyes sparkling as she teased Raven, saying, "Honey… you're only eighteen now."
Raven let out a dramatic sigh, slapping her forehead. "I know! But it feels so long ago… We need to move beyond my past. That's why you need more responsibility!"
Seeing Raven so flustered, Alara stepped forward with gentle determination. She wrapped her arms around Raven, pulled her close, and kissed her deeply om the lips. In the heat of the moment, Alara gently pushed Raven backwards, and in a blink of the eye, they vanished from the generator room, reappearing as they fell onto their bed inside Sanctuary.
