Chapter 112 - What Is A Technomancer

Raven stood before the corroded Mark 8 Electrolight Hydroelectric Generator, her fingers flexing in anticipation. Alara watched her closely standing behind her, Alara's eyes were filled with curiosity and excitement. This is the first time she would see Raven use her Technomancer powers in action. Raven turned to Alara, a playful light dancing across her emerald green eyes.

"Watch this, Alara. Let me show you how impressive your girlfriend really is," Raven said, her voice confident.

Raven stepped forward and placed her hand against the generator's outer shell casing. She closed her eyes for a moment and then said out loud. "Scan."

Alara could feel the shift in the air as Raven's internal energy moved into of the generator. After a few seconds, Raven began to speak Alara about the generators' problems.

"The core turbine is 47% corroded with rust," then she continued saying. "Half of the internal circuitry is completely inoperable due to time and elemental damage. The turbine's core has three major structural cracks and more than a dozen minor fractures throughout its body."

Alara moved her head in questioing manner, her brows furrowing as she tried to process this information as she asked Raven. "Raven, so... your Technomancer powers let you analyze machines and diagnose their problems?"

Raven opened her eyes, turning to look at Alara with a satisfied smile. "Exactly. I can diagnose any existing machine and see every fault and problem down to its very core. I can also create detailed blueprints in my mind for anything I want to build. It's one of the foundational skills of a Technomancer at level one."

Raven looked over at the pile of spare parts stacked nearby, shaking her head slightly before continuing. "Alara, people often think Technomancers just piece together machines from spare parts. But that's a huge misconception. A true Technomancer manipulates matter on a subatomic level. Their only limits are their internal energy amounts and imagination. External parts can help, but they are ultimately unnecessary for the creation or repair of machines."

Raven's fingers became steady as her focus increased. "Now... watch this, Alara. Repair."

Drawing on the vitality of the Lianas vines inside her body, Raven channeled the energy from her twin ability nucleus core. In her mind, she visualized the generator's structure on a subatomic scale. Every section, every corroded edge, every broken electrical connection.

She began to reverse the corrosion, her energy undoing decades of decay. Slowly, the rust melted away, leaving behind shining metal in the same state as if the generator was just built. Raven then shifted her mental focus to the turbine's core, directing her energy into its deepest cracks. The molecular bonds between the metal reformed seamlessly, the fractures disappearing one by one as if they never existed.

Next, Raven moved on to the generators internal circuitry. Using her interanl energy, the decayed copper wiring regenerated into new, pristine strands. The old, brittle rubber coatings covering the copper wiring transformed to be far more durable and resilient, offering protection well beyond their original design.

When Raven opened her eyes again, her breathing was steady, as her hands still glowed faintly with her energy. She turned to Alara and said. "Enhance."

Alara's eyes widened in surprise as Raven's energy once again spread throughout the entire generator. This time, instead of simple repairs, it strengthened and fortified every piece of metal and internal component.

Raven raised her voice slightly, saying. "Fold."

The energy around the generator increased in intensity.

"Fold."

The metal glowed as its durability increased further.

"Fold."

The generator now stood stronger and more resilient than it has ever been before. Raven turned to Alara and smiled, saying.

"Every time I say 'Fold,' the strength and durability of the generator increase by one level. Now, it's three times stronger than when it was first made. Now it will not crack or corrode again, at least not under normal circumstances.

Alara took a step closer to the generator, her eyes shining as she looked at Raven with a mix of awe and obsession. She reached out and touched Raven's hand, feeling the faint warmth still lingering from her energy.

"You're incredible, Raven," Alara said softly.

Raven looked down at their joined hands and then back at Alara, her lips curving into a gentle smile. "I did promise to always protect you, didn't I? And to do that... I have to build a force strong enough to keep you safe."
