Lady Theries, the youngest daughter of the Ribendo duke family, is my fiancée. Known across the Kingdom as "The Flower of the Kingdom." Her beauty is said to be unmatched in the entire kingdom of Devoe
Well, unless we are comparing her to someone like Alice. That's a different matter entirely.
I still don't understand why she claims to like me. Apparently, that alone was enough to arrange an engagement.
She also happened to despise incompetence. Naturally, I figured that my worthless act would make her nullify our engagement, instead, she kept coming back to lecture me, to tell me to change, trying to 'fix' me.
I have no idea what she's thinking.
I make my way to the garden. Theries waits there every time she visits me. My steps are heavy, my chest is tight. I don't want to deal with her lectures now. When I arrive at the garden, I see her —Lady Theries.
Her silver hair flows like the moonlight, perfectly framed by the sunlight filtering through the trees. Her sharp and emerald-green eyes carry both elegance and judgment. Draped in a flowing lavender dress, she stands like a lily in bloom—beautiful, untouchable, and entirely too regal for this world.
For a moment, I am captivated by her striking beauty. I guess that's what it means to be the Flower of the Kingdom.
"Greetings to you, Dan," she greets me with proper manners and calls me by a pet name she came up with by herself. Not like I hate it, but it's sort of weird, hearing from a girl I don't have any close relationship with.
She looks over me, her expression indifferent, "I'm happy to see that you haven't changed yet." That's sarcasm, I can tell because I do that a lot.
"What can I say? I have become quite fond of this new lifestyle," I reply sarcastically. Sarcasm for sarcasm.
After my reply, I see her faint smile as if she is enjoying what little time we have.
"While we are at it, when are you going to nullify our engagement?" I have to say it. I don't bear any hatred towards her; however, soon, the world will change completely.
As a key NPC in this God's plan, wait, wait, wait… Am I a key NPC? Well, let's say I am for now. It could be dangerous if she gets near me. Besides, I am a jerk. I doubt she can put up with me.
When I ask for the nullification of our engagement, her expression darkens. "No." She spoke firmly and clearly. "I will not nullify our engagement." She handed me a dagger— it's a golden hilt set with a gem in the chappe.
"I come here to give you this and have a little talk." I feel no rage but sadness in her tone. "But you are to speak about nullifying our engagement. I will leave at once." And she walks towards her carriage.
I doubt my eyes, but I saw tears in her eyes. Nah… must be an illusion. There's no way she shed tears from this… Right??

In the carriage…

Tears ran down my cheeks. How could he, how could he say that? How could he say to nullify our engagement with such a bright face?
I am Theries Si Riendo, age 15 and the youngest daughter of the Ribendo duke family. Since birth, I possess the magical eyes that see through everything, along with my unmatched beauty. For those reasons, I have many admirers but no true friends.
But you, Daniel, however, do not admire or carry my favour. I wondered why.
I still remember our first time meeting. 10 years ago, I was trying to run away from the party.
"Why are they always interested in being part of the family? Why do they not want to be friends with me?"
"IT'S SO FRUSTRATING!!!!"
I shout out of frustration. People I encounter are all only interested in gaining profit from me. I don't like it, I want friends to play with too. I want friends to talk to, too.
"If you shout that loud, they will find you."
I was startled. I didn't think there was anyone else here other than me. And he wasn't scolding me—just stating it like it was obvious. He didn't even look back to see if I was following.
"Who are you? Why are you here?" I question.
"I think that's my question," he answered in complete irritation. He jumped down from the tree that he was on. His face came into the light. 'It's beautiful.' That's the first thing I think of. His face outshone the sun. I forgot why I was mad at him in the first place.
He was not looking at me. He looks frustrated. "Next time, when you hide, don't shout too loud." Only then did I hear the footsteps that were coming. The little time I gained was now came to an end.
"What's your name?" I asked boldly. "Name's Daniel Ra Vindaloo", he replied with a smile on his face, it was bright like a star. I knew I was in love.
From that day, I tried to be the best of myself. The training that I once thought tiring was no longer a burden. I want to have your attention. Due to my training, I became the Flower of the Kingdom. However, I failed to get your attention. I requested the king and begged my father to be your fiancée.
Now, you are talking about breaking the engagement. I will have you know that I am not breaking the engagement. I will win over your love. I will try even harder if you reject me again. Because I love you, Daniel Ra Vindaloo.
