Chapter 43 - CHAPTER FORTY-TWO

Jenny sat quietly in front of Mikaela, Ellese's twin; she knew they were twins. It's difficult to understand why Jenny wants to talk to Mikaela.

Her brother suddenly called for her; her class was only half-day anyway, and they were in the small room. She didn't know how to start or how to greet the person in front of her.

Jenny just stared at her sibling, who was also silent. They were purposefully determining who would be the first to speak, aiming to break the silence between them.

That's why she let out a soft cough.

"Ah, w---what are we doing here in the corner?" It was the only question she asked her companions. Jenny kept glancing back and forth between Felix and Mikaela.

Her older brother just sighed.

"Ah, so I am Mikaela. Nice to meet you, Jenny." This is what she heard from Mikaela.

"Ah, nice to meet you too, Mikaela." She even extended her hand to shake hands with Mikaela back then.

Awkward. She could only say it in her mind back then.

"I'll just leave you two here." Her brother departed, leaving the two of them alone.

Mikaela was wearing a hat, sunglasses, and a scarf to hide her face; she was also wearing a face mask.

Mikaela is a year older than her, and Felisa is the same age as her.

"Why do you want to talk to me?" That's the only question she had for the person she was talking to now.

She removed her face mask, and for the first time, she saw Fuego in person.

"You have abilities, don't you?" Mikaela asked her.

Jenny furrowed her brow, unable to respond directly to Mikaela's question about her ability.

"Me too, I have the ability. I can see souls that shouldn't be in the human world."

Her brow furrowed even more, making it seem as if her forehead was nearly touching her eyebrows. The events unfolded too quickly; she couldn't immediately grasp whether they were going to discuss their abilities, as she suspected she didn't take pride in her abilities.

"W--- What do you mean?" Jenny could only ask the person in front of her.

"I talked to Ellese, my twin said. You have a special ability." This is what she said to her.

"Y --- yes, I have premonitions." Jenny admits to Mikaela.

She suddenly remembers that Mikaela returned to the Fuego mansion, and she is running away from something.

"I see you in my premonition; you will be in danger if you go back to your mansion." Jenny warned her companion.

"I know that, but I have someone with me. Don't you see that I'm with someone?" Mikaela asked her.

She just sighed at that moment. "It's me." She could only say that she didn't understand why she was there with Mikaela.

Her companion nodded. "I don't understand why I returned to our mansion." She just sighed.

Should I mention that she has something important to get there? That important thing she will take is inside a bag, and that bag contains a notebook with names in it. Jenny wondered in her mind.

"Ask Ellese why you went back there." That's all she said back then.

Her face suddenly fell at what she said. "My twin didn't explain why I returned there; she assured me that I would also remember it, as she claimed to know its location." Mikaela answered her, however, with a hint of sadness and nostalgia.

The premonitions she sees are becoming clearer, unlike before, when they were just images that suddenly appeared in her mind; now, they seem very real.

If Ellese hadn't said that, maybe I should wait to tell her about it. She just thought while staring at Mikaela.

"I don't know what to answer you, because I also don't know the answer. Maybe someday we can answer our questions about why we met and why I was at the mansion." Jenny ended up saying.

"Now is not the right time to know that, Mikaela. I'm just here to help because I got involved in my premonition." She could only laugh softly at what she said.

Mikaela just nodded then.

"Thank you."

Jenny just nodded then.

"Ah, by the way, can we exchange numbers?" Mikaela asked her.

She was surprised by the question. She only nodded in response.

"Thank you." She immediately handed the phone over to ask for her number. She immediately typed in her phone number.

Jenny immediately returned it after entering her phone number.

Her brother just watched. Mikaela stood up, and Felix approached them.

"Have you finished talking?" He asked the two of them.

They immediately nodded in response to his question.

His sibling turned to her.

"Please contact Thalia." Felix told her.

"Why?" was the only question that remained for her brother Felix. She was alarmed and thinking about the possibilities that might happen.

"Chesca will go there." Felix sighed.

"Yes, Ruth? I—I mean, Chesca, what is she going to do there?" Jenny could only ask, confused by what was happening around her.

"Because there will also be a question to answer, and besides, I know they will help each other." Her older brother said.

"Later, sister." Felix said.

Jenny nodded in agreement. "Sorry for the inconvenience. You have an exam today." He scratched his neck while apologizing.

"My exam is over now, brother." That's all she could say to the person she was talking to.

"Pick up Greg first; their teacher texted that they also have a half-day today." He even ordered Jenny.

"We need to leave now…" When Jenny saw that her entire being was hidden. She just nodded then.

"I'm sorry, Jenny."

She just shook her head as if it didn't matter to her.

Jenny was just surprised by the event; she saw her walk away immediately, carrying her phone, and now she was going to call Thalia.

It seemed like fate was bringing her and Mikaela together; she didn't think about it any further. So, when Jenny could no longer see them, she followed her outside and moved quickly.

Their world was becoming too cramped.

Karma. She spoke to herself and just laughed. Suddenly, darkness enveloped her as she walked, leaving her unsure of her location.

Jenny saw a woman carrying a lantern, searching for something in the forest. With the help of the lamp's light, she saw her figure. She thought she was in her thirties. She didn't know what she was looking for in the forest.

Jenny saw a woman who was carrying a notebook back then. She was startled by a gunshot and saw a man with a handsome stature hiding in the darkness and shade of the trees, but all Jenny could make out at that moment was just a shadow.

A man she didn't know shot the notebook-holding woman multiple times before he took the blood-soaked notebook. They abandoned the lifeless body in the woodland, disappearing as if nothing had occurred.

Jenny abruptly returned to the present, struggling to breathe. She was already on the road, and people were looking at her, wondering what had happened to her. She calmed her muscles. She gathered her strength to continue walking so she could pick up her younger sibling.

She could only shake her head. The past now beckoned her. Her mind was in turmoil, and it only got worse because she still had no answers.

She gasped as her mind screamed to rummage through the belongings of her deceased parents. Her mind says that the other answers are there.

So, she hurriedly walked to fetch Greg. She was still dizzy from what happened to her, but she needed to endure what she was feeling now.
