"Boss!" his men called out from a distance.
He didn't respond. Instead, he stood there, grinning like a madman, clearly enjoying the chaos.
"Let's go. We'll head back for now," he finally said, slipping on a dark, hooded jacket. His subordinates remained speechless.
So, you're alive, Chesca. Giovane thought silently.
I know Mikaela is alive too. You're both in hiding, but sooner or later, you'll resurface.
And when you do... I'll make sure to list every single person who helped you. Dad will be thrilled to see you soon.
"Boss, your father's on the line," one of his men called out.
He motioned for the phone and answered immediately.
"Hello?"
"How's the task I gave you?" his father asked on the other end.
He smirked. "Don't worry. You'll be surprised—and pleased—with what I uncovered today," he replied, wearing a twisted smile, his eyes gleaming with greed.
"What is it?" his father asked.
"Your stepdaughter has been confirmed alive."
"I told you that woman—Ellese's twin—is still breathing," the older man replied sharply.
"I can't confirm the other just yet, but if Chesca's alive, then Mikaela must be too."
"You know what to do."
"Yeah. I know." His grin deepened.
"Keep me updated. I'm itching all over to kill those two," his father growled.
"I'll keep you posted," Giovane muttered, then paused.
"By the way, Dad…"
"What?"
"You know Jake, right?"
"That bastard!" his father snarled. Giovane chuckled at the rage in his voice.
"What about him?" the man asked, still seething.
"Easy, Dad. "Relax," Giovane said mockingly. "Jake Diego Roman—my oh-so-righteous cousin—is a real thorn in our side."
"Is he involved in all this?"
"He works behind the scenes. The black market's been vanishing, and I have a strong feeling he's behind it."
"But we don't have proof," his father countered.
"Not yet. But I'm telling you, he's playing a game with you."
"Cut the nonsense. I want results—real ones. When you call me again, it better be with those two women in your hands. They're the ones who can ruin me."
"Don't worry about Jake. I'll handle him. He's not the one who'll take your throne down."
"You're scared of those sisters," Giovane teased.
"Work quietly. That's all I'm asking. I'm busy."
The line went dead.
Giovane let out a loud, maniacal laugh. His subordinates looked away, choosing not to react.
"What now, boss?" one of them asked cautiously.
What now? Giovane thought. Same as always.
"First, dig into the background of that woman—Jasmin. She's been a hassle. We need to silence her."
He smirked. I can use her. Her death will flush Mikaela out. Chesca didn't recognize me earlier…
It was time to return to the city.
Jake Diego Roman… What will your next move be? I'll play along until the end.
As he walked along the forested path, he stared at the trees.
He didn't believe in or fear people with "abilities." In his world, only the strong survive.
He craved chaos. He thrived on power. He loved the thrill of the game.
That's why he became his father's henchman. Killing didn't bother him. If someone begged for their life, it only amused him.
He had already spilled so much blood.
Maybe I really did inherit my father's demonic nature.
He dialed a number, calling his right-hand man to take over for a while—he had something more urgent to do.
"Old habits," he said, almost to himself.
"Okay," was the only reply.
He remained quiet, calculating something dark in his mind.
Should I wipe out that woman's entire family?
Pity was not a word in his vocabulary. He didn't kill because he was ordered to. He killed because it gave him peace.
I'm a murderer. I don't know what conscience or mercy is. I hear their final breaths, their screams... and it excites me. I don't believe in karma or ghosts. If they want revenge, let them come. I'll play with them too.
I kill to satisfy my addiction.
He had a long journey ahead. There was still so much work to be done.
He was the mastermind behind the disappearances of countless women—those who turned up dead or dismembered.
Now, who will be my next victim?
He smirked.
