Chapter 33 - Monster

Blaine stepped into the Beacon Hill Police Department through the main entrance.

As soon as he entered, he saw the body of the female detective lying on her back, the gruesome wound facing the door.

However, due to his [Mind Sense], Blaine showed no sign of surprise.

Standing before the corpse, he narrowed his eyes slightly.

His [Mind Sense] allowed the entire layout and situation of the Beacon Hill Police Department to imprint clearly in his mind.

So, without any obstacles or the need to search around, Blaine headed straight toward the temporary holding cells.

The lizard monster was guarding the jail entrance, while the werewolves Scott and Stiles were shackled inside, unconscious.

Blaine had no interest in anything else.

Whatever control was exerted over the lizard monster had absolutely nothing to do with him.

His task was to hunt and kill the lizard monster.

That meant all he needed to do was throw its head in front of Pete—everything else could be someone else's problem.

Bounty Hunters aren't babysitters—they don't dive headfirst into a mess just for one mission.

The Beacon Hill Police Department wasn't very large.

In less than ten seconds, Blaine saw the lizard monster on all fours, tongue stretched out, drooling, its teeth like jagged saws—frankly a bit disgusting.

The thing was truly hideous.

Blaine's eyes showed a hint of curiosity.

It was his first time seeing a supernatural creature—and yes, that tied-up werewolf too.

The lizard monster noticed Blaine as well and looked a bit confused.

Of course, Blaine knew what it was puzzled about—why it couldn't smell his scent.

That was one of the perks of the Hunter gear.

It could perfectly mask his presence.

To creatures or people who relied heavily on smell due to poor vision, it was an absolute counter.

But the confusion didn't last long.

The lizard monster let out a roar, and like a wild beast, launched itself off the walls of the corridor, bounding left and right as it charged toward Blaine.

It had no rational mind—just orders from its master: kill or guard anyone who appeared at the Beacon Hill Police Department.

Blaine was no exception.

Facing the monster's rapid assault, Blaine drew his Elemental Bow—not to summon an arrow, but to use the bow itself as a melee weapon. He struck four times at the limbs of the charging creature.

The humanoid lizard monster was instantly knocked back, letting out a furious screech as a vile, overwhelming stench of blood and filth burst into the air.

The lizard monster, after all, wasn't intelligent. It fought purely on instinct, like a wild beast with no strategy and no grasp of its own advantages. Against someone like Blaine, skilled in close combat, it couldn't land a meaningful hit at all.

That said, the lizard's physical strength was on par with Blaine's.

So, the backlash from those strikes left his hands slightly numb.

Meanwhile, the noise of the fight woke up Scott and Stiles inside the cell.

Scott groggily opened his eyes, and then his expression shifted.

"Roar!"

With a growl, he transformed into a werewolf, breaking his handcuffs instantly.

He could sense it—someone was fighting the lizard monster.

And just like that, the dazed little werewolf charged into the fray.

Blaine gave him a mildly intrigued glance.

Well, this trip to Beacon Hill PD had turned out worthwhile—a lizard monster and a young werewolf, both in one place.

But now wasn't the time for research.

Looking at the lizard monster, its hand twitching and its tail swaying, preparing to strike again, Blaine shook his head.

He had originally wanted to use this fight to hone his close combat skills a bit.

But thinking about it again—it really wasn't worth it.

Fighting a mindless beast had no meaning.

As the lizard monster attacked again, Blaine drew his Elemental Bow.

Under Scott's astonished gaze, a faint silver-white glow formed on the bowstring.

As Blaine pulled the string to its limit, a black arrow took shape from nothing, nocked between his fingers.

With Scott's sharp senses, he could clearly see terrifying gray mist coiling around the arrowhead, making his fur stand on end—his instincts screamed to run away from this cursed place.

Blaine let go.

Whoosh—

A sharp sound tore through the air.

The 'Poison Arrow' formed by the Elemental Bow pierced straight through the lizard monster's heart.

Thud—the creature collapsed instantly.

"Jackson!" Scott shouted in disbelief.

As the lizard monster fell, it slowly reverted to its original form.

A Caucasian teenage boy—his name was Jackson.
