Brandon's POV:
It wasn't that I was scared of my mum or that I actually cared about her opinion of my love life. Anyone who knew me knew the opposite. I'd never shaped a single decision—relationship or otherwise—based on what she thought. But tonight wasn't about me. It was Chloe I was worried about.
She'd made it clear in the beginning that we needed to be cautious, not fall into awkward situations with my mum, especially since things were still new between us. She didn't want drama or misunderstandings. And the last thing I wanted was my mum saying something insensitive, or giving that judgmental stare that could ruin the fragile warmth Chloe and I were building.
But, apparently, I was worried for nothing.
