Chapter 329 - Tang San’s Attempted Resistance

At midnight, when all was silent,

Oscar arrived at Tang San's room right on schedule.

The interior had clearly been rearranged. Tables, chairs, and other obstructive furniture had all been stacked against the walls, leaving a wide open space in the center.

In Tang San's left hand, dozens of Blue Silver Grass strands extended along the floor, ceiling, and walls, spreading outward in every direction.

At his will, they could instantly form an airtight cage, sealing and binding anyone inside completely.

In his right hand, he held a Zhuge Divine Crossbow aimed at the doorway. The specially forged metal bolts gleamed under the lamplight with a bone-chilling cold radiance that made one's heart tighten just looking at them.

After returning, Tang San had thought for a long time.

In the end, he decided he couldn't remain this weak—handing over everything others demanded. One day, there would be nothing left to give, and at that point, only death would remain.

Rather than losing a city today and land tomorrow—being slowly carved apart by soft knives until he was powerless to resist—

It was better to gamble everything now, while he still had strength. Perhaps there was still a slim chance at survival.

He was not a useless, spineless piece of trash like Prisoner Gangzi.

He had strength. He had methods.

Most importantly, the Flying Immortal Trial was his final and only trump card. Once handed over, he would have no remaining value. After being used completely, the other party would stab him in the back without hesitation—and he would have no means of restraint.

Moreover, even if Oscar cultivated the Xuantian Technique, he was still only an auxiliary-type Soul Master—with no attack power and no defensive capability.

If Oscar could be controlled or pinned down, the nail Nangong Lingyun had left beside him would lose its function.

If successful, he would immediately break free of the cage—

The sky would be high enough for birds to fly, and the sea wide enough for fish to leap.

The moment Oscar opened the door,

Blue Silver Grass hidden beneath the floor, above the ceiling, behind the door, and along the walls surged forward all at once.

In less than half a second, Oscar was wrapped up like a dumpling.

His mouth was stuffed full of Blue Silver Grass as well, to prevent him from shouting. His cheeks bulged unnaturally on both sides.

Seeing the first step of his plan succeed, Tang San finally let out a heavy sigh of relief.

Other people lived in neighboring rooms—if there were too much noise, it would definitely attract attention.

Under normal circumstances, something like this should have been done in a remote, uninhabited wilderness. Acting here was far too rushed and dangerous.

But today was an emergency. He had been pushed onto a volcano—there was no choice but to move. No matter how risky, he had to gamble.

Just as Tang San was about to speak, he suddenly felt something was… off.

Only Oscar's eyes were visible now. His Blue Silver Grass had been crippled long ago, and with this many layers of binding, an auxiliary-type Soul Master had absolutely no way to escape.

And yet—

His gaze was still arrogant.

Even mocking.

"It must be bluffing," Tang San told himself. "Oscar has always been clever. He knows he can't escape, so he's trying to scare me. He wants me to think he still has a trump card."

Tang San's heart trembled with fear.

If he failed, death was guaranteed. Faced with Nangong Lingyun's supreme divine might, there was absolutely no chance of survival.

But since death awaited him either way, he forced himself to believe—

Better to die struggling for survival.

What if… what if it actually worked?

He refused to believe Oscar wasn't afraid of death.

A food-type Soul Master with full innate soul power, now part of the Dark Division, with a girlfriend and a bright future ahead—

Someone like that might already have had their will eroded by a comfortable life. A little threat, and they'd break down crying and submit.

Tang San hypnotized himself with these thoughts.

Taking a deep breath, he tapped the Twenty-Four Bridges to the Moonlit Night with his right hand and retrieved a strange blue-green vial.

Inside was his greatest achievement from nearly a year of work—

A slow-acting poison that would inevitably lead to death after a certain time unless treated with a specific antidote.

Depending on the dosage, the time of death could be precisely controlled—up to a maximum of one month.

In his previous life, the Tang Sect had several similar poisons.

Before every mission, subordinates would be forced to ingest them. Only after returning would they be given the antidote.

That was precisely why he had risked his life to steal the Xuantian Treasure Record back then—because he knew death was inevitable. Either die on a mission, or die at the hands of his own people. Resistance was the only option.

Tang San slit the veins in Oscar's wrists and ankles with a dagger, then carefully dripped the poison onto the wounds.

Based on past experience, noticeable discomfort would begin in about fifteen minutes.

Next, he grabbed two large roosters from the corner, their wings bound tight, and dripped a small amount of poison onto each of them as well.

Twenty minutes later, both chickens collapsed onto the floor, twitching violently.

A clear bluish tint began to appear on Oscar's youthful face as well.

Tang San fed the antidote to one of the chickens and watched it recover fully. The other, without the antidote, gradually stopped moving.

Satisfied that the demonstration was sufficient, he leaned close and growled in a low voice:

"I've planted a deadly poison inside your body—a mixed toxin made from multiple rare poisons. Unless I personally treat it, even the greatest poison master can't cure it.

"If you understand what I mean, and agree not to shout, not to move, and not to make trouble, blink three times and I'll loosen the bindings.

"If you don't… this chicken is your future."

When Oscar blinked three times as instructed—

Tang San was so excited he almost jumped into the air. In his heart, a little figure was pounding its chest wildly with both fists.

"He submitted! He really submitted! He's afraid of death! I succeeded—haha! Ahahaha!"

Two minutes later, Tang San calmed himself and removed the Blue Silver Grass from Oscar's mouth and head.

However, his torso and legs remained tightly bound.

Oscar didn't seem panicked at all. He asked calmly:

"If I die, you'll die too. His Majesty doesn't need evidence.

"And if you give me the antidote and let me live, I will definitely report you. Even delayed-action poison won't matter—once I'm in front of His Majesty, divine power will erase it effortlessly.

"So tell me—what's the point of these ridiculous, pants-down-for-nothing tactics of yours?

"You should have other methods to control me, right? Go ahead. Use them all."

Tang San's face stiffened.

He couldn't help but smash a punch into Oscar.

He did have other methods—but Oscar's complete lack of fear, panic, or pleading filled him with inexplicable rage.

Wasn't he supposed to collapse in despair and beg for mercy?

Still, after the punch, Tang San laid out his true plan.

"I won't control you with poison forever. One or two days will be enough.

"The prayer ceremony is over. We won't need to stay in the capital to maintain order anymore. Tomorrow, I'll apply for an external mission.

"When the time comes, I'll use the poison to force you into committing an unforgivable crime. I'll keep the evidence and fabricate testimony for you.

"From then on, if you ever dare show me the slightest disrespect, I'll present the evidence and make sure you die without a burial."

The moment he finished speaking—

Oscar burst out laughing.

"Wow. What an exquisite plan," he said cheerfully.

"Why don't you untie me so I can give you a round of applause?"
