When Eugene said he accidentally threw something at his mother, Claude didn't realize Dahlia would have a big bruise on her chest. It couldn't be hidden under the V-neck of her yellow dress. The mother could only cover it with her hand when she breathed heavily.
"Well, it's not like he cracked my sternum." Dahlia chuckled, only to wince. "It's a big-ass bruise, but I'm okay. Thanks for coming to see my son, Claude."
"Do you need to go home later? I'll watch him through the night." Claude walked with Dahlia back to the private ward. "Len is busy, so I have all the time to spend here. Exams are coming up, but I can't concentrate with Eugene not doing well. I brought books so I could read while watching. Please take care of yourself first, Miss Dahlia."
"You're such a good boy." Dahlia chuckled and patted Claude's head. "I'm okay. I don't want Eugene to think that he hurt me too badly. You know how Eugene is."
