Chapter 25 - Power of the book of life and skill class tournament

AN; thank you all for 100,000 page views

After an hour of walking back to the dorm, I entered my room through the window and quickly put my gear and back in my closet before checking my side, where i was hit with the wind blade earlier. 'looks like it's just bruised; just some more use of the red medicine till it's healed by tomorrow night.' I thought before going to take a shower.

After getting dressed for the night and checking the time, I see it's already midnight. 'i will look through the book in the morning.' …

I wake up. I get ready for the day and head to the mess hall. "Good morning, Jason," bastion said as he sat down next to me. "Good morning, Bastion. Do you have any plans for the day?" I asked while eating my food. "Nothing too much, just going to be studying some of the decks of the people in our year and you?" he asked as he began to eat. "I'm going to be starting my day with some exercise before reading a few of the books I got from the library the other day," i said.

2 hours later

Returning to my room after practicing the magic, I pull out the two cores, still wrapped by Gleipnir and the Book of Life. "so do either of you have any ideas on what I can use these cores for?" i asked "Those are usually used in the spirit world for making artifacts like my staff or as sacrifices to summon other spirits from other worlds or some spirits who are the same type as the core will absorb the energy to strengthen themselves." Queen said as she started to look at the quality of the cores. "I would recommend turning that wind core into a pen for you to use to make your spell circles; that is what it would be best for, but that ice core could be used for anything; its quality is as perfect as most spirits can get; anything higher would only be held by divine spirits." she said, like a teacher.

"So, by divine spirits, do you mean this one?" I asked, showing her the Raigeki card featuring Slifer. "Yes, just like that one, I can feel the energy coming from that card," she said, stepping back from it. "Wait, the three Egyptian gods are the only monsters to have the divine beast type and divine element, but the way you said it, there are others, so could that mean that any monster that reaches level 10 and above is considered divine compared to other spirits?" I asked, thinking back to what level the Nordic gods are. "Yes, that is correct," Queen said.

"That actually makes a lot of sense: the Egyptian gods, the earthbound immortals, the sacred beasts, and the Nordic gods are all level 10." I said, "So what would you recommend I do with it?" I don't really have any plans to summon a water-attributed monster or spirit," I asked. "I would recommend that you absorb it with your spirit's nature; it can absorb any type of energy to strengthen itself." She said, "I will guide you on how to do this in a few days; when I return, I will take that wind core to my alchemist to turn it into a spell pen for you," she said, picking up the wind core before returning to her card.

After she left, I put the other core back in my bag. I then walked over to my door and locked it. Thereafter, I sat down at my desk with the book of life, which was made from bronze infused with Divine Necrotic magic, giving it an emerald green color. After opening the book, I found that the first page was filled with the names of different gods from across the world, along with those of powerful spirits; the most notable among them are Zorc Necrophades, Doomking Balerdroch, Lucifer The First Darklord, Dread Persephone, and Nyx, as well as many others, each having their own chapters.

As I read through the first chapters, I discovered that many contained the rules of the underworld and afterlives associated with different gods, while those from the spirits outlined the rules governing their respective realms. The oldest beings in the world wrote the next section, which focused on their origins and how life began in their area. Following that, there was a constantly updated list of people's names based on their locations, as I read. However, I noticed that I could not find my name, which suggests that my blessing from Hela has made me invisible to the gods and powerful spirits who watch over the living.

I then found a bunch of lists not being updated, and at the top were the species; a few were elves; they had only a few hundred still alive based on the fact that their names were still lit up and a new name was just added, and I see that they don't have a god updating the list but a powerful spirit. Next were the vampires, just like I was hoping to find; surprisingly, there were two names lit up. The first was Camula Markov, and the second was not a pure vampire but this world's only dhampir; their name was Adam Smith. Looking at the top of the list, I'm not too surprised to see that the person who created the vampires was Nyx, so now I know what chapter to start with.

Skipping to the Nyx chapter, I started to look through her chapters; the first spell was pretty simple, just creating a dark illusion around the caster, making them invisible to people unable to see spirits and most technology. The next was a ritual for summoning spirits related to space, and that was one I would have to use later to make my deck based on my spirits. The rest where useful but situational Finally, near the end of her chapter, I discovered what I had been hoping for: two spells that could help me in the long term. The first spell could turn a human or a vampire into a new vampire progenitor, who would have none of their weaknesses and the ability to summon and command vampire spirits. The second spell explained how to resurrect all vampires that had been killed, but one of the requirements was that it could only be performed by the progenitor.

After reviewing the requirements for both spells, I understand that the first spell is intended for someone to become a champion for Nyx and sacrifice a few souls to her. While I do not intend to be her champion, I believe Camula would accept this role, especially once she learns about the second spell, which aligns perfectly with her desires. The second spell requires many cores from dark monsters to fuel it, but I possess two field spells that consist entirely of dark monsters. I can get those from.

For the rest of the day, I studied the first third of the book before heading to bed. While I was eating breakfast in the morning, Professor Sartyr walked up to the podium, where he gave the welcome speech and said, "Good morning, everyone. I have one announcement to make; if you could please offer me a moment of your attention," he said, waiting a moment for everyone to pay attention before continuing. "Today is mail day, so when you return to your rooms after class, your mail will be placed on your desk. If you need to send anything, please deliver it to my office, and it will be sent out next week on mail day. "Thank you for your time; please have a good day in class," he said before returning to his seat.

… three hours later.

After the first few classes of the day, it was time for a class i was actually looking forward to: after a few minutes of waiting, Dr. Crowler walked in. "Good afternoon, class. Now that everyone has had a few days to settle in and refresh their knowledge of the basics, it is time to put everything you know into practice. You will each be assigned a random monster type to build a deck with, and for the next week, you may only use that type of monster in your deck. Afterward, we will hold a small tournament where you will duel against others using these decks," he said. Then the first person on the class list appeared on the screen before the type assigned to them appeared next to their picture, then after a moment it switched to the next person, eventually getting to Bastion with his typing being spellcaster. "This will be an intriguing challenge," he said as he started to write down some ideas for the deck.

Next was a bunch of people who would not even get past the first round before reaching Chazz, showing he got fairy monsters. "No way! I have to use stupid fairy monsters. Why couldn't I get something strong like dragons or machine monsters?!" Chazz complained before storming off out of class. Then not too long later it reached Alexis, showing she would have to use plant monsters. "Hm, I can work with those; I'm just glad I didn't get insect monsters," she said. Then came my turn and seeing that i would have to use fiend monsters, well, at least i can get the best field spell to go and hunt some down; i will have to stop by the school card shop.

A minute later, it was Syrus's turn, and he revealed that he had to use pyro monsters. "Oh no, Jaden! What am I going to do? "I can barely duel in front of everyone with my deck, let alone a monster type I never used before," he said, worried. "Don't worry, Sy; you will do just fine. We have a week to create the deck together, and we can duel each other to practice with both of our decks." Jaden said with a large smile. "He seems like a trustworthy friend," she said. "Yeah, he is; that's one of his virtues and flaws. He is kind to everyone, but people with malicious intentions can take advantage of this. If his will is not strong, he will eventually break." i said it when i saw Jaden's picture appear.

Next to his picture, it showed he had to use thunder monsters. "Alright, let's get started, Sy." Jaden said this before taking off, with Syrus following him. I then made my way to the card shop. "so ash im going to by the field spell to go to a spirit world for fiend monsters i was thinking about getting a few packs do you want to pick them" i asked. "Yes, I will pick the best ones; trust me," she said confidently, making herself as tall as possible as she flew around. "But before we go to that world, can we play a little bit you and pluto got in that fight and explored that temple while I was asleep and then you spent all day yesterday reading that creepy book," she said, making a small pout and giving me the puppy-dog eyes.

"Sure, we can play the rest of the night and go tomorrow," i said, trying not to show that her tactics worked.

Arriving at the card shop, I walked up to the counter and asked, "Do you have the field spell Mystic Plasma Zone?" "And can I get a few packs of the 'purple pack,' please?" I asked Ash. I said, "Sure," before the shopgirl went to the back to get what I asked for and handed it to me as I paid.

When I arrived in my room i saw that on my desk was a small box and a stack of canvases walking over I put the canvases away before opening the box looking inside i see that it was most of the planet cards, with the only cards that were missing was terra firma and The Supremacy Sun that makes sense; Jaden has terra firma and Tragoedia has the sun. "Tragoedia, we can move on to resurrecting you during this week jaden should not have terra firma on him so this would be your chance to get it from his room and i already have the monster with your heart." " I said out loud, "I know you can hear me through the planet's monsters."

After putting the monsters away in the closet shelf where no one can find them. "Alright, Ash, let's head out to the clearing. I have an idea for a few games we can play and still get some practice in." … arriving at the clearing.

"Alright, here is the game: we will both use our fire manipulation abilities to create different shapes; the more complex the shapes you make, the more points you get," I said."i go first," she said, as a small flame appeared between her hands that slowly shifted into a small triangle. "Alright, that's excellent; that's 3 points. My turn," i said, as i formed a flame into a cone. "Oooh, that's cool, alright; that's five points. My turn," she said as she started to make a large pyramid about the size of herself. "Alright, now we are getting serious. That's ten points," i said. The exercise went on for a while until i felt the beginning of a shadow game.

"Sorry, Ash, but we will have to go check on that shadow game," I said as we ran towards the abandoned dorm. "That's fine; we were beginning to get a bit carried away with the shapes, haha," she said, following along. After a minute, I arrived at the dorm and followed the feeling of the shadow game down to the basement.

Upon reaching the basement, a wall of shadows blocked the door at the bottom of the stairs. After taking a moment, I used the magic that initiated my shadow game with the rare hunter to force my way into the duel; with the howl of a wolf, the darkness dissipated, allowing me to enter the room. I saw Chumly and Syrus standing near a column of the Pandemonium field spell. Looking over to the center of the field, I saw Jaden dueling the rare hunter possessed by darkness, while Alexis was behind him in a coffin. "So, do you two want to tell me what you four are doing here?" i asked.

"Ah, Jason, don't sneak up on people like that." Syrus said as he put his hand on his heart. "I didn't sneak up on you, but anyway, it looks like Jaden is in the middle of a shadow game. Why is a rare hunter here?" I asked rhetorically. "We don't know; we came out to the abandoned dorm to check it out, but we ran into Alexis and heard her scream after we got separated. We ran into him when we found her." Chumly said.

I was observing the duel. "I will activate Polymerization to fuse my Elemental Hero Avion and Burstinatrix, summoning Elemental Hero Flame Wingman. Then, I will attack your Terror King Archfiend." I destroyed Terror King Archfiend with a drop kick. "Now the Flame Wingmans effect activates, and you take damage equal to your monster's attack points." with a flash of fire, the rare hunter's life points drop to zero.

The rare hunter began to be eaten by strange gray blobs after the duel was over. "Help me, please!" he screamed before vanishing completely as the gray blobs sank into the stone floor. Realizing that the duel had ended, I decided to leave while everyone else was occupied. Upon returning to my room, I had everything ready for my expedition tomorrow.
