Chapter 244 - Chapter 244: Skill Breeds Boldness!

Leo immediately ordered the nearby BND agents and enforcers to move, locking down all major intersections around the museum.

These operations had been prearranged by Leo and kept extremely well-hidden. Even Zhang Yang hadn't noticed anything unusual when he arrived.

Back when Zhang Yang first reached Country D, the BND had already dispatched large numbers to track down Kaitō Kid.

Now that Kaitō Kid had taken action, there was no way Leo would rely solely on the team at the museum.

But Zhang Yang wasn't trying to leave the museum at the moment. Instead, he was following right behind Leo's team.

This new opponent intrigued him. Zhang Yang figured it was worth taking the time to study him more closely.

"Search!"

"Kaitō Kid likely hasn't left the museum. We have to find him!"

From start to finish, Leo hadn't seen even a glimpse of Kaitō Kid.

Now a treasure had gone missing, and there was still no word from the agents stationed outside.

As soon as Leo gave the order, all the BND agents kicked into action.

Zhang Yang, bold as ever thanks to his skills, blended right in with the search teams—completely serious as he combed through every nook and cranny of the museum.

Passing by a window, Zhang Yang spotted dozens of surveillance drones flying outside. They were the same model as the four he'd taken down earlier.

"Clever Leo. So he was still holding back a trick or two."

Only now did Zhang Yang start to sense that something outside might be dangerous.

"There were other drones the whole time, but he didn't use them to track me. Only after the heist did he bring them out to seal the perimeter."

Zhang Yang kept a calm expression as he continued searching the museum. Right now, there was no reason to rush.

Leo didn't suspect a thing. One extra person inside the museum wouldn't raise any red flags. At this point, staying inside was probably the safest choice.

About ten minutes later, Zhang Yang heard a very familiar voice echoing from the first floor.

"Hello, Director Leo!"

"So, any sign of Kaitō Kid?"

He didn't hear that voice often, but it left a strong impression.

"Holmeska?"

"So, he really came after all."

Zhang Yang chuckled lightly. This so-called contest clearly wasn't limited to France.

Holmeska had chased him all the way to Country D.

When Holmeska entered the museum, someone in the crowd recognized him instantly.

[Who's that guy? Why's he allowed in? Is he some BND director?]

[Wait! I think I've seen him online—he's a descendant of Sherlock Holmes, and a private detective too!]

[WTF? A private detective coming to catch Kaitō Kid? Are you kidding me?]

[Pay attention, folks. He's a descendant of Holmes—not your average PI!]

[Oh my god! Harrison didn't show up, but a private detective did?!]

The crowd outside and netizens in the livestream chat were stunned.

As Holmeska's identity became public knowledge, the buzz surrounding him only grew.

Sherlock Holmes' descendant, stepping onto the stage with a built-in spotlight.

[Holy crap, he actually convinced BND to let him join the operation!]

[Holmes was a legendary detective. Out of respect for him alone, they'd let his descendant help.]

[No clue what level Holmeska's at, but catching Kaitō Kid isn't easy!]

[If he really captures Kaitō Kid, he'll surpass Holmes in fame for sure!]

The livestream chat was blowing up. Sherlock Holmes' reputation was legendary, but if Holmeska actually managed to catch Kaitō Kid, his fame would definitely surpass Holmes himself.

Everyone pretty much agreed on that.

Sure, Holmes solved tons of near-perfect cases in his lifetime—but in front of the world's number one master thief, those criminals seemed like small fry.

Zhang Yang had expected Holmeska might come chasing, and maybe even Harrison too. It was always possible they'd show up in Country D.

But what he hadn't expected was that Holmeska would actually get in touch with BND—and even join the capture operation openly.

"Holmeska might be trouble. I'll have to start taking him seriously."

Before, Zhang Yang hadn't seen him as a real threat. Just someone to keep an eye on.

But now that he'd officially entered the game, it was time to treat him as a serious opponent.

"This guy's got sharp logic. If he guesses right, that could ruin everything."

Zhang Yang's concern wasn't misplaced. As soon as Holmeska met up with Leo, he started asking for a full breakdown of the incident.

It only took him a few seconds to form a theory in his head.

"Director Leo, if Kaitō Kid is still inside the museum, what do you think he'd do to keep himself safe?"

Leo frowned and thought about it. After a moment, he shook his head in frustration.

"Holmeska, we've just about torn this place apart!"

"Every corner's been searched. Unless he can turn invisible, he's not here!"

At this point, Leo was starting to believe Kaitō Kid might have already escaped.

After all, they had already swept through every inch of the museum—nothing had been left unchecked.

Holmeska gave a cold smirk.

"No, he can't turn invisible."

"But he's a master of disguise. And he's damn good at it. How many BND agents are currently inside? Who exactly are they?"

"If he's pretending to be one of your own, you could take this entire museum apart and still never find him!"

Leo froze for a second—then everything clicked.

"Holmeska, you're absolutely right!"

"How the hell didn't I think of that? Fuck!"

He had known Kaitō Kid could disguise himself well. Back at the entrance, he'd even been checking everyone's faces.

But he forgot one crucial thing: Kaitō Kid wasn't just limited to blending in as a regular civilian. He could disguise himself as a BND agent too!

Zhang Yang heard every word of their conversation loud and clear. Holmeska's quick thinking really caught him off guard.

"Figuring out they need to check their own men… Holmeska's the real deal."

Zhang Yang couldn't help but be impressed.

Before this operation, he hadn't hacked into the BND system. He didn't forge a fake identity.

So if they did a thorough internal check now, there was a good chance he'd get exposed.

'No guts, no glory.'

"Holmeska, let's see what you've really got."

Zhang Yang chuckled softly and started looking for a target.

Soon enough, Leo's voice came over the earpieces, ordering all BND agents inside the museum to gather in the first-floor lobby.

Just then, a BND agent stepped out of the second-floor restroom. Zhang Yang's eyes lit up, and he walked straight toward him.

"Director Leo wants everyone in the lobby—now. You'd better hurry. He's not in a good mood."

The agent thought Zhang Yang had just come out of the restroom and gave a friendly reminder.

Zhang Yang nodded casually. As they brushed past each other, he quickly turned and pressed his fingers lightly against the back of the agent's neck.

The man collapsed silently into Zhang Yang's arms.

"Thanks for the tip. I'll get right on it."
