A little girl ran past me in a bright hallway, giggling loudly. Her long brown hair flowed to her shoulders as she ran. She stopped in the middle of the hallway and turned to me slowly.
"Come on, Mom," she said.
I looked behind me, to see who she was calling but didn't see anyone. I turned back to her to see her face light up with a smile.
"Mom!"
"Me?" I asked.
She nodded. "We're gonna be late."
And with that, she ran down the hallway and turned left. I ran after her quickly and paused. I could have sworn she took a left turn, but I couldn't see her.
"Mom," her voice echoed through the walls.
"Where are you?" she asked.
I touched the wall on my left, looking around. "I'm right here. Where are you?"
"Right here," she giggled.
I turned, but found no one.
"Mom!"
Her voice had changed into that of panic and I ran towards it.
"Where are you, child?" I called.
"Help me!"
