Camden River pressed his lips together, thought for a moment, and then directly picked her up horizontally.
"It's not necessary." Windsor Myres quickly said.
She couldn't put on airs, couldn't deceive herself, and couldn't possibly use this as leverage to demand Camden River treat her in every possible way, always holding her dearly.
But—
Camden River still didn't put her down.
He carried her all the way to the dormitory building.
At lunchtime, the campus was crowded with people; it was imaginable the kind of stir they caused.
But Camden River ignored it.
In the past, he cared about his reputation and would be furious if Windsor Myres pushed him publicly.
At some point, he stopped caring about his reputation.
The facade wasn't crucial, really.
Everyone at school already knew them, and knew he had accepted Windsor Myres. He had no secrets at school.
——
Camden River set Windsor Myres down.
Windsor Myres steadied herself, looked at him, and said softly, "Then I'll go up."
