Alaric has to set his quill aside after Lenore leaves his study, having boldly asked him to share a bed with her in the most innocent sense once again. He spent so long trying to figure out how to find a way to return to the sleeping arrangement they had in the townhouse, discovering that it now seems strange to sleep without her by his side. Not a single one of his hypothetical options included Lenore being the one to ask him to sleep beside her again. He hadn't even let himself hope that it was a possibility.
