Chapter 169 - Chapter 168: Capturing Jigglypuff!

Kazuki looked down at the pink puffball wriggling affectionately in his arms, then reached out and squished Jigglypuff's chubby cheeks.

With a flick of his wrist, he tossed a Poké Ball, capturing it in one smooth motion. The ball clicked shut—and the newest member of his team was his.

He immediately pulled up its stat panel.

[Pokémon: Jigglypuff]

[Base Stats: 270]

[Level: 32 (Elite Tier)]

[Potential: Quasi Elite Four Tier]

[Ability: Competitive — When any of its stats are lowered, its Special Attack sharply increases!]

[Hidden Ability: Hypnotic Voice — The frequency of its singing adjusts to the opponent's type. If the opponent's level difference is within 30 levels, sleep is guaranteed! Beyond that, there's a 30% chance to inflict sleep unless they have special resistance.]

[Moves: Disarming Voice, Sing, Rest, Echoed Voice, etc.]

Kazuki's eyes widened.

Jigglypuff might only have Quasi Elite Four–level potential, but like Pikachu, it had a rare Hidden Ability!

And what an Ability—it was practically broken!

Of course the pink demon that followed Ash through the whole original script wasn't ordinary.

Guaranteed sleep against anyone within thirty levels? That meant his level-32 Jigglypuff could reliably put even level-62 Pokémon to bed!

With that, conquering the higher Gym tiers would be child's play.

Its potential might only be Quasi Elite Four, but add thirty levels on top of that and it could go toe-to-toe with pseudo-legendaries!

And beyond that, even if the difference exceeded thirty levels, there was still a thirty-percent chance to hypnotize.

In theory, this little puffball could trade blows with the gods themselves.

After binding Jigglypuff, Kazuki released it again, crouching down to increase its affection through a few gentle pats.

"Jigglypuff, your voice is incredible," he said, ruffling its soft head. "From now on, you should sing for me more often."

Jigglypuff beamed, eyes turning into happy little crescents as it chirped, "Puu-puff-puff!" over and over, hopping around him.

Kazuki glanced over at Misty and Suzie, who were still sound asleep. They'd barely rested last night, so he decided to let them sleep a bit longer.

He sat back down, opening his Pokémon panel to review his team lineup.

[Pokémon: Pikachu – Lv.43 – Holding: Light Ball, Electric Booster Disc, consumed Special Grade Experience Boost Potion]

[Pokémon: Pidgeot – Lv.42 – Holding: Swift Wing, Sharp Beak, consumed Top-Grade Swordcap]

[Pokémon: Dratini – Lv.26 – Holding: Top-Grade Dragon Fang, consumed Special Grade Experience Boost Potion]

[Pokémon: Blastoise – Lv.36 – Holding: Mystic Water]

[Pokémon: Bulbasaur – Lv.42 – Holding: Everstone, Legendary Miracle Seed]

[Pokémon: Charizard – Lv.39 – Holding: Charcoal, using Elite Trainer Kit]

[Pokémon: Primeape – Lv.35 – Holding: Focus Band]

[Pokémon: Haunter – Lv.28]

Only Haunter and Dratini were still below level thirty.

Still, both had their strengths—Dratini's boosted experience gain and Dragon Fang made its growth rate insane, while Haunter had mastered Millennium Dark Pulse, a top-tier crowd control move.

Kazuki sighed as he reviewed his lineup. Every one of them had their own specialties—it was hard to bench any of them.

Once you started collecting, you could never stop. Seven slots just weren't enough… and he was already tempted to fill an eighth.

Unable to decide, he shelved the issue for later and focused on his current mission: helping the people of Neon Town finally get a good night's sleep.

He turned and gently shook his two sleeping girlfriends. "Hey, sleepyheads. Time to wake up."

Misty blinked blearily, rubbing her eyes. "Huh? How did we fall asleep?"

Suzie stretched lazily, a small smile tugging at her lips. "Mm… that nap felt amazing. My body feels so light."

Kazuki helped them both up, one in each arm.

Jigglypuff puffed up her cheeks, still sulking a little.

Seeing that, the two girls quickly crouched down to apologize.

"Sorry, Jigglypuff! Your singing was beautiful, really!" Misty said quickly.

"Yeah, we just didn't sleep well last night," Suzie added. "That's the only reason we passed out!"

Now that Jigglypuff knew they were Kazuki's girlfriends, her pout didn't last long. Her expression softened again, and she hummed contentedly.

Kazuki couldn't help chuckling. Honestly, if he hadn't boosted his own mental resistance by a full hundred percent, he'd be out cold too.

Still, it got him thinking. If Jigglypuff could emit her singing as an area-of-effect aura… maybe both my girlfriends would drop right where they stood.

Not that it would hurt them—hypnosis didn't damage the mind. It was just deep, restful sleep. Honestly, letting Misty's overactive brain rest a little sounded healthy.

"Alright, let's head back to Neon Town before it gets dark," he said, glancing at the dimming sky.

"What?!" both girls gasped, looking up. "It's evening already?!"

They quickly packed up and followed him back.

The group enjoyed dinner at a lively roadside restaurant run by a fiery-tempered chef, then stepped out into the cooling night air.

"Phew!" Misty exhaled. "We were only in there for half an hour and saw three arguments break out!"

"Guess the town really does need a break," Suzie said. "Kazuki, let's have Jigglypuff sing for everyone tonight!"

"You two go back to the hotel first," Kazuki said. "I'll handle it with Officer Jenny."

Misty frowned. "The Jenny here doesn't seem to like you as much as the others do. Maybe we should come with you."

He gave her a crooked grin. "If you do, you'll be sleeping on the sidewalk. Once Jigglypuff starts singing, you'll be out cold—and I'm not waking you up."

That convinced her fast. Misty winced, recalling how sore her back was from napping on the ground earlier. "Yeah, on second thought… bed sounds good."

After seeing the girls off, Kazuki headed toward the police station.

From a distance, he saw Officer Jenny trying to break up a shouting match between two elderly women. She looked exhausted.

But when she turned and spotted Kazuki, her eyes lit up instantly.

"Kazuki! I can't tell you how good it feels to see you right now," she said with a tired smile.

They'd only met once before, yet she spoke to him like an old friend.

"The town's been a mess lately," she sighed. "No one's sleeping properly anymore. Everyone's on edge."

Kazuki smiled faintly. "Then maybe it's time we make them all take a nap."

Jenny blinked. "You've got an idea?"

He nodded and released Jigglypuff. "This little one's my newest partner. Her singing can soothe people and put them to sleep peacefully."

Jenny's eyes widened.

"And once everyone's calm," Kazuki continued, "you can propose dividing the town into quiet and night-market zones—keep its charm without wrecking people's rest."

Her face lit up. "That's… brilliant! Kazuki, you're a lifesaver!"

She immediately got to work, calling her staff and arranging for the town's broadcast system to be activated. Efficiency ran in the Jenny family.

Soon, the microphone was set up.

Jigglypuff stood in front of it, puffing her chest proudly. "Puu-puff!"

Kazuki grinned. "You ready, songstress? Everyone's waiting for your performance."

Jigglypuff took a deep breath—and began to sing.

Her voice flowed through the speakers, spreading across Neon Town like a gentle tide.

The restless crowds slowly relaxed. Expressions softened. Feet stopped moving.

One by one, people sat down, slumped against benches, or simply lay where they stood, drifting into peaceful sleep.

Even Officer Jenny couldn't resist—she sank into her chair, her skirt slipping higher and revealing a glimpse of her lace-trimmed black panties under the dim broadcast lights.

Kazuki glanced out the window at the sea of slumbering townsfolk, a mix of awe and amusement flickering in his eyes.

Jigglypuff's voice really is divine.

If he used it in battle, putting enemies to sleep would be effortless.

When Jigglypuff finished, she hopped off the stage excitedly, eager to see how everyone reacted.

"Hold on, superstar," Kazuki chuckled, catching her mid-bounce. "You've done enough for tonight. Let your fans dream a little longer."

He coaxed her back into the booth, deciding it was safer to let everyone wake up before she saw them all knocked out cold.

As the last sounds in Neon Town faded into silence, the familiar chime echoed in his head.

[Ding! Mission Complete: 'Capture Jigglypuff, put the people of Neon Town to sleep']

[Heartfelt Reputation +1]

[Reward: Pink Bow — Boosts Normal-type moves by 10%. Stored in System Inventory.]

Kazuki picked up the soft pink ribbon, smiling.

Perfect fit. Jigglypuff might look like a Fairy, but most of her attacks were Normal-type.

He tied it gently around her neck. "Here. A reward for singing your heart out tonight."

Jigglypuff touched the ribbon, face glowing with joy. "Puu-puff!" she sang, spinning in circles.

Kazuki laughed softly, then looked over his team one last time.

He decided to send Haunter back to the Pokémon Center for a break. Its Millennium Dark Pulse was too intense to use often—it needed time to control it properly.

Letting it relax and play with its Gengar brothers for a while would help.

After finishing the swap, Kazuki stepped out onto the balcony.

Neon Town was finally quiet.

Under the starlit sky, with the faint hum of the sleeping city below, he leaned back on the sofa in the broadcast room—smiling as he drifted off to sleep.
