Rein's POV
It was that cloaked man. Hearing his voice closer to me made me realize who it was.
"So this was all a trap," I said as realization dawned on me. Everything had been too easy to be true.
"Obviously," he replied. "How do you expect me to leave a girl I knew had power without extra protection or guards? And why would I return your property? It might be useless to me, but I wouldn't just give it back to you."
"Because I knew you would escape," he added.
"Why are you so sure?" I asked, wondering what gave him such confidence.
"Because I know you. I know you well enough to predict your moves before you make them." I could tell by his voice that he was completely confident.
"So what are you going to do now that you've caught me?" I raised my hands as if surrendering, though my mind raced for an escape plan.
